two hopefully helpful tips for fighting the Senones : 1, don't try and take on their elite sword units in a confined space. Wait for them to come down off the walls so you can swarm them instead of basically feeding infantry units in one-by-one. 2, The Senones were the first 'barbarians' to sack Rome, so assume they're meant to be a major threat and don't under-estimate them, even the low-tier units.

''Cursus honorum: the Ladder of Politics'' - Chapter 2 Having left the office of Quaestor behind us, our aspiring politicians will seek for themselves the position of Praetor. A very important point to make is that most Roman politicians only ever achieved the rank of Quaestor. Very few made it to Aedile (next episode) or Praetor. Most ex-Quaestores had to make do with their seat in the Senate, a seat that would make them important symbolically, but practically powerless. In the ancient world, judicial powers were usually tied to monarchs. Kings, Queen and Archons (ancient Athens) were the usual ''juries'' or ''supreme lawmakers''. In the famous Apology of Socrates, written by his student Plato, Socrates is supposed to have mentioned godlike judges: ''For if one who arrives in Hades [the Underworld], released from those here who claim to be judges, will find those who are judges in truth -- the very ones who are said to give judgement there, Minos and Rhadamanthus, and Aeacus, and Triptolemus, and those of the other demigods who turned out to be just in their own lives -- would this journey be a paltry one?'' Philosophers like Socrates argued that fearing death was unnecessary and even a sin since judgement would not be given by mortals, but by referred judges, whose judgements could not be false, while Socrates' contemporary Athenian judges could very much be wrong. In Rome, Praetors were solely responsible for the judicial system of juries and judgements. Before the Republic, these judicial powers lay with the absolute monarch, the King. It was mindblowing to other people at the time, that Romans decided to give this kingly power to elected officials. Absolutely bonkers. Our modern judicial system is very much based on the Roman one. A Praetor was effectively the Judge, who presided over court cases. Oftentimes, a jury of Roman citizens would choose either to absolve or to condemn the defendant. In the latter case, the Praetor would decide a fitting punishment. Every Roman citizen that did not hold a political function, could be called to court. This meant that Praetors would very often preside over cases involving fellow Senators. This, in turn, made Praetors very influential and very corrupt. Condemnati -- meaning ''those who were condemned (by law)'' -- could be punished in only a few ways. Fines and corporal or physical punishments were the most common. For more serious cases, the condemned could be exiled from the city. This was especially devastating to a political career since all of Rome's political activity was in Rome. One also had to be physically present in Rome to stand for office. Lastly, a condemned could be sentenced to death. This punishment is rather self-explanatory. Oddly enough, however, the Romans lacked one major modern form of punishment: prison. The Romans did not have, maintain or use prisons. Thus, Praetors were often forced to choose between letting people live reasonably comfortable or killing them mercilessly. This was, of course, were Roman political gangs, mob violence, corruption and bribery came in. From Praetor, we will be going to the office of Aedile. While this position was not necessary -- in this case meaning skippable -- for a political career, it was vital to the functioning of the Republic. Till next time!

Hello Lionheart, you should let your slingers slinger when their skirmishers are busy skirmirshing your troops, so they won't use their shields that wel l and you will end up inflicting more casualties,

You are doing wonderful on this series. I recommend securing the Southern boot of Italy before moving North. You have allies in the North to act as a buffer. Marching south with a new army should give you the ability to secure and hold all the South before turning to face your Northern enemies.

lionheart btw if other family takes hold in a province for example latium, if you dont finish up that province for 20 or so turns they will not take hold in other provinces, but after 20+ turns they will leave that province to you and in turn they will grab other provinces, the amount is based on number of turns :) so you can do this if you want to grab wealthiest of provinces :)

Make Camillus your faction leader by assassinating your current faction leader. If you have a civil war your highest gravitas general in your family (that isn't your faction leader) will break off an form a new party. Also don't forget the value of dictators/consuls to buff replenishment, morale, public order and loyalty for that faction. Also, if you need a quick fix for loyalty, marry off the heads of rival factions, their wives can be promoted and do all the intrigues thus boosting loyalty by 1-5 based on what you do. There's a tech that boosts loyalty by 10, for all parties, permanently called "Praetor" in the Via Magisterium (blue) tech tree. Also as a side note the Champion has a loyalty boost in one of the skills while deployed; the talent is called "Praefectus" and provides +1 loyalty per level of the skill while deployed, its a small amount but can be a nice bonus when combined with edicts, intrigues and other agents. Every little bit of loyalty bonus is useful so you don't have to constantly spend "secure loyalty" in order to squash political problems.

Spent the last 3 days catching up on all these videos lol LOVE the campaign right now, I love this game in general (I love playing as Sparta). But anyways, man from how things are going your northern border is pretty secure with your allies, I’d take the factor leader to the south, leave the other army behind for extra protection of the north, form a third army near your southern border and then conquer on. FOR ROMA

Lionheart, don't push too far into north, probably would be good idea to stop in firmum, then focus on south, acording to technology, you already have some problems (small for now) with negative public order, maybe it would be good idea to focus on getting some buildings producing possitive public order.
