Thanks for that comprehensive comparison. Not sure how it's possible, but at the LCBO in Ontario, we get the RB 21 for $250CAD and the Tyrconnell for $100, way cheaper than you paid. Either way, the tropical fruits on that Redbreast make it one of my favourite drams ever. Cheers

Great review. My dad passed away a year ago and left me a bottle of Bushmills Millennium Malt 25 year. I drink a little every few months after watching reviewers to see how far I've come with my tasting abilities. So far it is still way beyond me but lately I can find a very unique grassy taste and a kinda marzipan sweetness. I really appreciate all the videos which have often helped me decide what to buy next =)

@@LiquorHound It is great, I truly love the Teeling company and commend them for their quality guarantees - no artificial colouring, no GMO's, looking forward to trying the single malt & single pot variants. As the Small Batch one sits in my closet ATM, starting a collection. Just opted for the Small Batch Four Roses bourbon, and thoroughly impressed by their products as well. .. Do you have any recommendations as a new whiskey connoisseur that I must try?

Chris, enjoyed your review of this range of Irish. Maybe I'm part Scottish / frugal, but haven't spent much money on Irish and enjoy the bog-standard Black Bush and Jameson Stout Edition at under $25. My wife bought me a bottle of the RB 12 and loved it. And will move up to their CS in the future. But I get more flavors, smells and texture out of bourbon, rye and scotch. Cheers!!

I went with the Jameson Stout Edition last night with my corned beef and cabbage. Pretty solid for the price. However, For under $50, I believe the Bushmill's 10 is my favorite Irish Whisky. Red Breast 12 CS is my next Irish purchase. What are your thoughts on Knapogue Castle? Great review as always, sir.

Nice video as usual Chris...I'm happy you selected that beautiful 10 yo Madeira cask finish Tyrconnell, I love it...and also these early heavily peated Connemara's (from the same distillery for those who wonder), alas many expressions of them are discontinued (like I said in my same theme recent video/live) since Beam Suntory took over & I regret it...(especially the Cask strength one in my opinion, the best of all, with some single casks). Cheers ! PS : I heard a lot of good , things of this now stopped Creative Whisky company indie bottlings so I believe you if you selected this as a nice whisky. I can also advise your audience to search for some nice usually undisclosed BlackAdder or Cadenhead, or The Nectar Irish malts bottlings, often very good. Also storepicks for The Whisky Exchange are often first class stuff..

The Sexton single malt Irish whiskey (NAS) I felt was surprisingly good for a modest price. I got it on sale for $16 and is on sale again by me for $20. Typically sells for around $25. It's supposed to be a sherryed whiskey, and I do taste a bit of the sherry and though it's only 80 proof, is quite flavorful considering. If it was bottled at 46% abv (and perhaps a little more barrel time), I think it would be outstanding. I've read that it likely comes from the Bushmills Distillery, but not really sure on that.

I’ve always wondered, do you know what the difference is between redbreast 12, yellow spot, and powers john’s lane? They’re all 12 year old single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton yet they all somehow taste pretty unique from each other.

@LiquorHound4 жыл бұрын
At $245 it was a decent deal but now at $330 it’s reaching the tipping point. Of course we don’t know what their inventory looks like, so maybe it’s getting short and that’s part of the reason for the price increases. Cheers!
@rostislavtraps71484 жыл бұрын
LiquorHound Why you think all Irish whiskey seems to be overpriced? In Alberta, Canada RB21 is CAD $190 and Yellow Spot and Green Spot Finished are only CAD $78. Those prices are more normal.

Wow, that Red Breast 21 is way over priced. Ranges from $190 to $250 Canadian coast to coast. I picked up my last bottle for $192 all in Cad. The Tyrconnell 16 bourbon cask or 16 Sherry/Moscatel are must buys.
@inf0phreak4 жыл бұрын
Part of the reason why the price of Redbreast 21 went through the roof is that Jim Murray made it his #2 whiskey in the world in 2018. As usual that meant it was vaccuumed off of store shelves.

Cannot comprehend where you get 4 to 7 years old for Jameson. It is no older than 3 years and one day. Seriously????
@LiquorHound4 жыл бұрын
Well according to their website it’s aged “aged for a minimum of 4 years.” I’ve also heard through other sources that the range is usually between 4-7 years old (but you’re probably correct to assume it’s heavy on the 4). Cheers!
@cliffnorman1784 жыл бұрын
@@LiquorHound I think my negative bias towards that Jamesons just over rules everything for me. I will not believe that the volume of production being millions of bottles in every batch rules out anything older than the legal requirement of three years. It is one of the worst whiskies ever made, but that is only my opinion. But it is good in Irish coffee.
