Hi there, Liron here! And in today's episode of Painting Masters we'll look at works by Jasmine Huang (also known as Huang Hsiao-Hui).
Jasmine is a very skilled watercolor painter. She is a master of both technique and vision.
I am particularly fascinated by just how much her washes are connected, and the level to which she exploits wet-in-wet with masterful control.
She is also, coincidentally, Chien Chung Wei's spouse (:
Their styles do share some similarities. but are still quite distinct.
Let me know if there's an artist you want me to feature in this series (I'm always happy to add new ones to the already-huge list).
I hope you enjoy this one!

Liron, that painting at 22:38 of an artist’s work area might also be David Chauvin’s work. I looked up KZbin videos to check out his work and saw that painting there. The video was posted by Alex Ivanov.

Thank you for introducing another painter I hadn't heard of. Her control of the mid values is extraordinary. In the first painting, the turquoisy hue of the windows and elements of the left building seem to match the hue of the water and it ties the whole scene together. Love the lighting on the people and the varying edges of the boat.

Gorgeous depiction of (and control of) light in all of these paintings, Liron - as well as the expert merging of washes that you pointed out. My word, you do have a knack of finding such interesting artists that we might otherwise never have heard of. Really enjoyed this one ... ... except for the sad fact that it caused to me to throw my last 300 paintings in the trashcan (only joking!). I've also just finished watching the video where you painted your girlfriend and her friends studying in your apartment and I think I now have just one of your extended-length videos to catch up on. You've really spoiled us with with some truly excellent material recently. Many thanks and warmest wishes from Florida, Brian.

Thank you so much for introducing her to us. She is definitely my new favorite watercolorist. The granulation she achieves is incredible. I wonder if she uses granulation medium. I bought some from WN recently but haven't experimented with it. I also notice that a few of her pieces have a "spider web-like" look. There is a book by Frederick Wong called Oriental Watercolor Techniques (got it on Amazon). He talks about watercolor painting on masa paper (rice paper I think). The technique includes crumpling the paper and then straightening and the paint sits in the creases. Really cool, but won't work with regular watercolor paper. Thanks again...so great. And I LOVE your channel! Thank you for all the work.

Hey Liron - as always, brilliant job - I really enjoy the painting masters series. I would love to see you do one on Maxfield Parrish, an illustrator in the early 20th century. Though he worked in oils, he built up his paintings layer by layer with glazes, and his paintings are glowing! I am virtually certain that if you were to Google him, you would recognize some of his work. Thanks!

Thank you 😊🙏🏼 Yes, can be a bit of a challenge. But once you learn how to apply that to specific scenes it's easier. Once you can "see the path", so to speak, to the specific scene you are working on, it gets easier. Will talk about it in a future video.
