Thanks Liron. Your running comments are so helpful, especially, for me, in your portrait videos. Very helpful to have honest reflections on your own experience and challenges! Much appreciated!

I also found the loomis method very accurate for drawing heads - and the most understandable for me - since I always struggled before with getting the proportions right, and so the likeness also suffers as a result.
@LironYan4 жыл бұрын
Yes! I have a similar experience (: It can be tricky in a way to get both the likeness and geometric simplification and cleanliness. I hope to focus on likeness in the future and perhaps learn how to better combine the two

Thank you. I too have to repeat again and again it also takes me longer than anyone else to grasp new ideas. I am now 66 and learning how to draw and paint the one thing I now have is time on my hands just as well considering it takes me longer than most to just get it. Cheers from Australia.

Cheers! Keep up the good work 😁 Learning-wise - we may have low acceleration, but our top speed can be quite good (:

How good you are not only with watercolour but also at drawing. You are several steps ahead of me - and your repeated advice about the repetition is absolutely sound 🤗

Can you please make a couple of this kind of sessions? Finding it so helpful to follow and draw along with this! Huge resource for those who don't go to art school. It is like sitting in a class with a friend who draws way better than you and learning from him by following his steps! Thank u. Draw along practice sessions are such a blessing.

Liron, I found the method you used for the heads was something I’ve never seen before! I was concentrating more on that than what you were saying actually although what you said was very valuable. I’ve always liked drawing faces, bit by bit, which is laborious and not always successful but I’d love to see you do a demo explaining about the circle, how you cut it up etc. I was fascinated. Thanks

Haha, I'm happy to hear! 😁 This topic is covered really well by Proko in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3azf4yNmqqZZ7c But I will try to also cover it in the future! 🙏🏼

Love your videos! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and talents. It is also very good and generous of you when you mention other artists and their videos when it relates to the topic you are covering and you believe it too may be of help.

I've tried Loomis method and failed every time, just don't understand and I would probably need some extra explain for it. Never had a problem to draw people intuitively just watched proportions but with Loomis I'm focusing more on geometry and effect is a disaster. Just don't get it.
@edzejandehaan92654 жыл бұрын
Strange. I find it the most straight forward method. Effective without overcomplicating matters. Did you look at Loomis' books? They are in open domain, and you can download them legally for free.

@@edzejandehaan9265 I've got the book and I tried to draw every picture from it after read but all my pictures looked not right I think worse than I draw from life. I can't explain why.

If you have an easier time learning from vids - have you checked out Proko's vid on the Loomis method? kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3azf4yNmqqZZ7c I found it very helpful and clear, in terms of the geometry. Let me know! (:

@@LironYan Thanks I will do! Edit: I think I'll start to draw lots of pictures with shapes of the head first without eyes, ears, etc. in different angle. Just head with marked proportions, after that I try next step as Proko advised. Thanks 👍

One day I do great heads, the next its a disaster. I am just not consistent enough.
@LironYan4 жыл бұрын
It's really like that in the beginning. I sometimes find that I have a good week or so of quality results, then a terrible one 😂 But consistency does increase with frequency of practice, in my experience!
