One of the reasons I've always enjoyed your channel is because of how wonderfully expressive your style is, which is completely opposite to my style. I've always wanted to find a way to focus less on details and be more expressive too so both your usual content, and now this, is a great help. Thanks as always Liron :)

I got a van gogh water paint palett for my birthday last week, ive previously only used regular pencils and thick paint to do my art and now when i started on trying to figure out how to get good with watercolors i realized ive always been sketching and adding details straight away when using what i usually am confident with. But now when i see your videos i see that there is so much more to it that u have to think about and different techniques and brushwork w both water and paint! Its so interesting and it has made me more interested in starting to do art again since i got bored of the same old ways of doing it.

Judy, his gift wasn’t God given. He spent a lot of time, research, effort building his skills. This God given idea is a myth that lazy people tell themselves about skilled people. Not meaning to call you lazy. Obviously you’ve persisted for 2 years but just saying keep your mind out of the ditch of “poor me” vs “ lucky them”. It’s not accurate.

Fabulous! Love how you simplify even what you teach and loved the repeats of different subject matter. One of my favourite realism animal portrait artists is Robert Bateman, h stated that he starts with finding the abstract design in the painting. When I read that I was shocked, but you just said it again. Shapes and Ian Roberts “Mastering composition “ also going slowly into my brain. Your video is icing on the cake! Loved the idea of painting what I don’t like!!! I will do them as shapes and abstract form, not river buildings.. you are one of the best!! Thank you and happy holidays!

Great, practical demonstration, Liron. I need to get back to this type of process. I’ve been lazy in just printing out a black and white of my reference photo, which helps with establishing contrast, but doesn’t help with eliminating unnecessary details. The process you demonstrated does. Thank you! Would love to see the final color version of your river composition as well.
