This is really useful! You're so right, you have to let go! Drawing is much more about muscle-memory than a mental perception, and sometimes that gets in the way! I'm definitely going to try these exercises. Thanks, Liron! 🙂

Now I know this is 4 years ago, but like holy cow this has made me feel somewhat more comfortable to draw circles and even lines I want to thank you so much for this tip because I've been gripping my pencil or pen has HARD as possible to get that accuracy and stuff, but after what you just implied in this video has made me feel like i don't even want to grip the pencil or pen anymore. Thank you for this video so much.

Excellent video, Liron! I have definitely found that doing very fast and loose sketches every day (just silly little quick sketches of household objects around me) has improved my ability to get better and more accurate results. It's almost as if we have to leave go of the pencil with our calculating brain and pass responsibility over to our more intuitive hands. As they often say, if you think consciously about what all your muscles are doing when you walk, you'll fall over - only by leaving it to the subconscious will you manage to walk a straight line .... or perfect circle, if desired :-) Thanks for the video and enjoy the rest of your week, Brian.
@LironYan5 жыл бұрын
That is a PERFECT way to word it, my friend 😁👍🏼 You nailed it! It's about developing intuition and muscle memory, and delegating the drawing process to these elements, rather than deliberate awareness of each and every muscle.

HEEHEEHEE! "I'm too good to be deliberately bad." Love it!! Thank you for this excellent video. I'm sure it will help anyone trying to improve their drawing skills. I think a good idea for the New Year would be to devote a certain amount of time each day to do this kind of thing, even if it's only 15 - 20 minute chunks--both hands, too! :)

Came for the lessons on drawing circles. Came away with and understanding of just how important losening up my shoulder is. Not lying, I tried focusing on losening up my shoulder and my curves and ovals got better instantly, even though most of my focus was on my shoulder.

You probably won't even see this comment, but I want you to know this video helped me out, A LOT! A couple years ago, I was obsessed with drawing a perfect circle. You would see videos with advanced artists doing it, and they say they practiced, but how? What method did one use to get to level? So, upon a couple weeks of realizing I could never be like that, I let art go...Until a few days ago! Few weeks into the same dilemma, I stumbled across your video. Tried your method on 3-4 notebook pages, I was pleased to say it worked! So, from the depths of my heart, THANK YOU!!!

@@ronaldpagar6513 Haha that's the most abbreviated sentence I've ever seen 😂 If your purpose is to paint a face, for example, the circle doesn't have to be perfect - because it's just a guideline you'll cover later. On the other hand, if you're an industrial designer, and are creating a sketch for a product design - the circles in it (if there are any), are a part of a finished product - so I would even use a round template to make sure they are 100% perfect. Makes sense? (:

Why not just use a tool like a compass for a perfect circle
@LironYan5 жыл бұрын
For just a perfect circle I see no problem in using a compass / a premade shape template. But for drawing an oval at a certain angle, this skill is really important 😉✏️
