I use this technique to fill in around squares on tshirt squares when they aren't all the same size. I bought a quilt panel at a quilt show with no extra fabrics to go with it. Now, I can make it.

I really like my June Taylor shape cut I bought both sizes! (Joanns with a coupon) Makes cutting your own jelly roll strips or binding easy with the big one cause the slots are 2 1/2" apart, no chance of getting one the wrong size. The colors you chose are so cheerful, I'm with you on the framing, it makes the panel pop and gives your eye a place to rest. So enjoy your sense of humor!

What a good idea for panel pieces. I have some panels that I have not really been sure how to use and this could work with them. I have a ruler like the one you used and I love it it has made my cutting so much better although I was a bit concerned about Oliver’s swishy tale at one point!

The wide block could have been kept as wide as printed and borders on the top and the bottom to make it as tall as the other blocks. Then put it in the second row down from the top, making the side blocks smaller so that the row is the same size as the other rows.

There are some tutorials out there on how to straighten them. I just go with it and add to the sides. It always seems to work out in the wash. You can trim the panel to be even after pressing. You will just lose some of the edges. April
