April, I love that you're babysitting your grand baby. I heard all kinds of sweet talk from your grand baby. So precious are the moment's you get to be with your grandchildren. My grandson's are in South Carolina. I've seen some pictures, but never have been blessed to see them in person. They're 9, & 7. Maybe one day I'll be able to visit them. Til then I send them lot's of chocolate. What a Wonderful quilt, thank you for teaching me how to make it. I'm so excited to make it. Well, bye for now I'm off to sew, & eat chocolate. Love you.

O my gosh...I have pretty much all of Suzanne mcneills quilt books....she even has one for accuquilt....I have made my daughter a quilt this way using charm packs and I used a complimentary fabric for the centers then Cathedral rolled over the edges with a different fussy cut coordinating fabric. It took for ever. It's not harder using charm packs it's just more time consuming...i made a pillow case with yardage and a 16in pillow with this method....i put a couple borders on the pillow to fit a pillow form.....she got it for Christmas. She was 5 then and she just turned 10 this month and it's a twin sized quilt. I have made her more quilts through the years but the only one that's on her bed is that one lol.....the diamond you create in the center requires much more patience than the layer cake squares.....I also cut that bulk off the back so the block would lay more flat and I wouldn't break a needle when quilting on my sewing machine. I ABSOLUTELY love her patterns and I have made just about all of them....thank you for bringing back memories. 😁😁

I thinking a piece of raw or turned edge applique shape in the middle of the middle square. Something from the collection to coordinate or contrast. Sapws such as hearts 💕 stars 🌟 or seasonal things like Christmas trees 🌲 🌳 🤔 Even hand sewn buttons for a cushion or pillow for embellishments. Get really keen and do piping in your seams with other squares. I think that is a big enough list. 🇦🇺💜🇺🇲🖐🥰
