LIRR AM Rush Hour at New Hyde Park. 9/30/24

This was one of the more enjoyable AM Rush hours that I did as it wasn’t too cold, and I had spectacular sky and lighting conditions. The trains were fast and furious with several drag races!! I likely won’t do any more of these as it will be getting chillier in the mornings, but we shall see.

3:35 can tell that startled you. Sure surprised me. Sure did look like a lightning strike. 5:49 definitely a gorgeous view of the sky. And I know that saying from watching the Deadliest Catch. Lol 10:46 sounds exactly like the sound a HP laptop computer makes when you disconnect something from it's USB port 11:55/12:32, 22:30/22:58 M7 echo! 12:55 😂🤣 exactly my thoughts on the acceleration sound of an M9. Another good one, Tim. Will be added to the playlist

I mean the acceleration on an M9 doesn’t sound terrible but if you’re high on that M7 sound like you are, I guess it would be pretty unbearable. The C3 K13A horn is ghastly. It sounds so bad that I occasionally dubb in audio of other more pleasing sounding horns.

@@3985uprr Yeah, M9s are ok. I'm glad they're not the majority of MUs. And it will be a sad day then they're around with no M7s. And I'm in agreement with you about the C3 horns.

That M-3 came in with both sets of lights on. Back in my day that meant the train was short. Wonder if that still applies !

3:35 That cannot be normal. Arcing does happen every once in a while but I’ve never seen it THAT bad. Awkwardly placed shoe perhaps? Edit: Also if you were to stare at that as it was happening, you could literally go blind! Sounds crazy but arcs contain ultraviolet rays, which are notorious for causing blindness. So it’s like directly staring into the sun! 😳

That’s the central branch, which is used pretty much.

Seems like no issues on the line. Unfortunately for me, the A and C had significant delays this morning because someone got hit at Rockaway Ave.

Since when the MTA having LIRR trains terminate at Westbury on the main line? That sounds more crazy to me than the MTA having the LIRR terminate at the following stations: Freeport, Seaford, Wantagh and Massapequa on the Babylon branch.

That’s something relatively new but the train originates out of Hicksville as equipment.

@@3985uprr I know, but it sounds crazy and the fact that it makes all local stops up until Woodside, is surprising. For me my home LIRR station is Hollis and that would be useful for me.
