LIRR Montauk Branch 4th of July Weekend “Horn Fireworks!!!” 7/3-7/7/24

We capture LIRR action on the busy Montauk Branch on the 4th of July weekend. We were trackside east of Babylon on 7/3, 7/5, 7/6, and 7/7. (I was busy on 7/4) We covered areas between Bay Shore and Eastport. The horn action and quality on this busy weekend was superb. The trains were long and frequent. The K5LLA horns were well represented as well as some of the best K5LA horns associated with engines #405 and #518. Many K5L’s and K5LL’s are heard too. With a few exceptions, it was one of the most rewarding audible experiences I’ve ever had.

You were actually close, but not quite. That was a Caltrain horn. I dubbed that into that scene because I cant stand listening to our cab car horns.

It was unusually good wasn’t it??😁😁😁😁. I felt like fooling around on that shot so I edited in a Caltrain.P2 horn. I think I synchronized that very well.

How do the LIRR lights work? I'm confused by their function. They don't turn red like the original ones after the train passes. The color stays the same,
