"Sometimes, love is a 6-way plug". That is a key quote in this entire podcast. Life is short, and the one thing we could all hope to find as humans, is someone that understands us to the point to where no one else outside would understand us. That is when you know, you are living at the pinnacle of life regaurdless of your personal successes, or your wealth.

Both Lex and Lisa were trained within universities. That does not represent all they are or all their knowledge but university can be a great place for training in your chosen field. You get to meet many professors, almost all of which are deep experts in their field. Moreover, both conducted their research within a university. Years of research and reading changes you in ways that are hard to predict.

2:15 just listen to the lengths she went to to find a husband after she had secured her career (!) and was already divorced once (!) - and then, after how many (?) failures / fallen through candidates she is finding the man who she’s plunging into multiple hour long conversations with (>20h/ “equivalent to five dates”), meets him in person, introduces him to her friends and then still denies “love at first sight” - (Lex is our hero and is saving my day / my world model by being insistent here until she comes up with “The rock and the ocean” / Maine in December story.) 20:56 The rock and the ocean (- and a bit of prelude of “I feel like I’m falling in love with you”) 23:20 still no love at first sight? “Well... the brain is a predictive organ... - it’s filling in all of the gaps.” But isn’t that what love is? 24:38 always see the best in each other 24:58 when you find somebody who not just appreciates your faults but loves you for them, maybe even doesn’t see them as a fault 26:01 “the optimal margin of illusion” / “When someone says ‘You’re not who I thought you were!’ - Well, whose fault is that?!” 28:48 does knowing how the sausage is made distract from the experience / make it less magical? vs Babies in the park 32:19 The two rooms (- Lex answering his own question differently than Lisa)

Love is a commitment. Faults are places to improve. Things that are less lovely to most which are appreciated by a spouse are quarks. Love is a connection that you have to develop. You will be surprised what can work if you keep yourself as charitable as possible. Being humble and selfless doesn't hurt. As long as you are matched with an equally committed person who seeks the same kind of relationship. It begins and ends with commitment.
