Excuse me. I learn English. Can you please explain the difference between this two words: singing and songing? I understand these are two different forms of one word, but what does it mean in this case?
@michellepreston97994 жыл бұрын
The difference is a black lingo term Meaning that she didn’t just sing the song she went above and beyond what a normal singer would do. The passion the adlibs the power the strength of the performance is showing through. So we hen you see a comment like she put her foot in it or she didn’t just sing she sang that song that’s what it’s meant to imply.

First of all, Lisa was never comfortable being in the limelight. There are a lot of insinuations here by many people. Her debut album “So Intense” was #1 on the Billboard R&B Charts, 3 songs from that album were top 20 hits with “How can I ease the pain” reaching No. 1, so it wasn’t like she wasn’t grinding out hits or not selling any records, she was. After winning the Grammy for best R&B Female Vocal Performance, she went back to singing backup for her good friend Luther. A nice long stint with the Rolling Stones, and Tina Turner, some projects here and there, soundtrack for the motion picture, Made In America with Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson. Lisa is a very humble person. It was Luther that encouraged her to go solo. But she loved being a back-up singer to her friends.

I can attest to the fact that she is a beautiful and humble human being. I've been to the last two concerts she held in my city, and each time I spoke with her she was so warm and attentive. The first time I met her she held me in a warm embrace for what felt like a long time, then she let me go and engaged in a dialogue with me for a few minutes before moving on to the next individuals who were waiting to meet her. She never rushed and she always paid attention to what you were saying...She truly is a gift to the world. My wish is that people who get to see her in concert, get to experience that Lisa.

Lisa use to sing background for Luther Vandross and if you look at some of Luthers old concert videos, you’ll see Lisa and you can still see her singing background for The Rolling Stones sometimes out front with Mick Jagger, she never really wanted to be a solo artist, these are her own words. She won a Grammy for this song in 1991, there was no such thing as auto tune then, what you heard in the studio is what it was, auto tune wasn’t created and available until 1997, the late 90’s ….

I recall a comment Patti Austin once made when asked why she didn't tour more. She said "Why should I? I can make a half mil a year and sleep in my own bed every night." In a lot of ways that was Lisa Fischer's attitude as well. She was perfectly happy being "The A-List Call Voice" and her career reflected that. It still does. Lisa is a "singer's singer", a Stradivarius in a world of fiddles. No doubt about that.

The reason Lisa is not mentioned in the same category as Whitney or Mariah had nothing to do with her lack of talent or machine pushing to make her successful. Lisa was huge when she released her #1 album and her #1 single (How can I ease the pain). Lisa started out as a background singer (which she loved doing) and Luther Vandross felt that she had the chops to be a star. Luther encouraged her to do an album, so she put out a very successful album and even won a Grammy. Lisa said that she felt like she accomplished the ultimate goal that a singer strives for (Winning a Grammy) so there was nothing else to prove. So she left the spotlight while she was still on top and returned to singing background. She has said that she enjoys that more than being a solo artist. So even though we love and appreciate her gift she CHOSE to step out of the spotlight. If she had continued to do solo music she would definitely be in the same category as Whitney and Mariah.

Her Skills on this song was such a threat to other female artists to step there game up + her label didn't know what to do with her great sounding voice. There were 2 others i can remember in the 90's were in her kind of in her range were Christina Aguilera, Shirley Murdock when she did her solo career. After the mid 90's the females With true skills, range & that gave true emotions died. Today i only found a few artist that show some emotion in there music are Niia, Yuna & Bonfryre. But not at the level of the 3 i commit on. Which i don't we'll here again. Thank god we still there music/videos to lesson, reminisce & to enjoy. Keep up doing a good job.

Lisa Fischer join the Rolling Stones in 1989 at the principal back up vocalist, and has been tour with them since then. The album deal came about pretty randomly, and she wasn't really interested of motivated to complete another album. It was really her choice. Secondly both Houston and Carey are POP artists not R & B, they were not signed to be R & B artists, they were not cross over artist, despite what BS you might read on Wikipedia. They were signed and marketed for the Pop charts. Lisa was not, she was signed to be an R & B artist.

A vocalist looks relaxed on stage. Doesn't struggle with difficult passes or upper range issues. Look at her. Completely doing what comes natural to her. As opposed to others **cough Mariah** who look like they're in pain when they sing....and i use that term loosely when it comes to her.

Oh you tried it though. Lisa Fischer, I love the women and she's one of the greatest who's up there with MARIAH and many others! Now, difference is yes Lisa is older BUT Mariah's been doing this solo for 30 years, not as a background singer but as the lead artist, 15 studio albums she has recorded with countless takes, remixes etc, 1000s of shows etc. And yes it may look like Mariah is up there singing while in pain and that's because she is 🤦♀️ she has nodules and has had them for her entire life ever since she was a child but the fact that sh managed to even create 15 albums and still have a career 30 years later and is one of the greats is beyond incredible, she did the impossible while suffering. So don't try and bring Mariah down just do you can uplift Lisa. Mariah isn't only a skilled vocalist who's had to sing around her nodules but us also one of the best female Songwriters/producers and in the top 5 of all time.
