Exactly. These meds and surgeries are great but need to be reserved for ppl who have lots of weight to lose, who have made the dietary changes. Benefits are supposed to outweigh the risks with any medical treatment. This isn’t for ppl wanting to lose 30 pounds.

Where were all these “warnings” when Ozempic was just out for diabetes only? You didn’t hear anything bad until it was also used for weight loss. It’s the same medication. Same delivery of it. Same everything.

Exactly and long term affects of the meds is scary ! And big pharma is making trillions so the manufacturers aren’t going to pull the meds even if ppl die because there’s warnings and it kind of reminds of when metabolite weight loss pills came out yrs ago I did take em lost alor of weight yet serious side affects n perhaps other things were reported from metabolite usage so the pills were discontinued yet Ozembic is a huge huge cash cow so I’d think the Ozembic won’t be pulled anytime soon for weight losss n it’s not new as used for diabetic patients so ppl just really need to use common sense my feelings are that I’d never use it no way !

Ozempic and Rybellsus are simply diabetes medications given to people who don't have diabetes, because of their side effects, which are the desired outcome for weight loss; ie. Diarrhea. People should not be on them. They are not safe.
@forallthestupidshit3550
@forallthestupidshit3550 Жыл бұрын
@@Cynthia-f4ydon't do it. Ozempic isn't a medication to cure the "illness" of being overweight. It is a diabetes medication that causes diarrhea, so it has been marketted as a weight loss drug, due to the fact that us causes diarrhea. Diet and exercise are the best, most effective way to safely lose weight. Don't be fooled by marketing. Ozempic is a repurposed drug that they woyld give you in order to force your body to have diarrhea. You can do better than that for yourself. I believe in you!

I friend of my family died recently after she suddenly started losing weight at a rapid level and they could not figure out why. She got so thin she looked skeletal and then went into a cardiac arrest. Turns out she had bariatric surgery many years ago and the situation Dr DuBrow described happened with the scar tissue. Thanks for talking about this Dr D!! People need to know about the risks of all this stuff and especially the Ozempic risks. The word about this stuff needs to get out there!

I have taken Ozempic for diabetes for two years. I have had no side effects until I went to a double dose so I went back down. I have lost a lot of weight but the most important thing is that my A1-c has gone from the diabetic range to normal range and it has stayed there. Because of Ozempic, I don’t have to worry about the foot ulcers that resulted in my aunt losing both her lower legs, or macular degeneration that made her go blind. I took Metformin for years and it did nothing. Ozempic may have literally saved my life. It really upsets me that these already thin people are using a medication to lose a few pounds and in the process, making it harder for diabetic patients to get.

Thank you for sharing your story. Ozempic and Mounjaro are game changers for type 2 diabetics and PCOS patients with insulin resistance (which is what causes weight gain). That said, they’re still drugs, and they need to be treated as such. I think the problem is that people are taking these drugs irresponsibly (too high of a dose, drinking alcohol when you’re not supposed to, mixing medication), and the health practitioners (not all, just the greedy ones) aren’t paying attention.

I had gastric bypass surgery and a few years later went on Ozempic for diabetes. After almost 4 months, I'm pretty sure I was on the brink of pancreatitis, so I stopped taking it. My sister takes a very low dose of it with no serious issues and excellent results for both her diabetes and weight loss. Please tell your friend to pay attention to her symptoms. Upper abdominal pain and persistent nausea are serious signs she should not ignore.

I wasn’t ever on Ozempic, but I had several adhesions form from a hysterectomy. The pain went beyond anything I could ever describe! Nothing showed on any type of x-ray or sonogram. They finally , reluctantly did exploratory surgery. When I was awakened, the surgeon apologized and said he could definitely see why I was in so much pain. He also said that had this been a few hours later, the outcome would have been completely different. My one remaing ovary was completely necrotic along with several portions of my intestines. It still angers me that nobody believed anything was wrong, because they couldn’t see it on on any kind of test.! I’ll never forget screaming to the point I had literally no voice left and nobody seemed to care….It’s not like I was ever any kind of drug seeker. Just complete incompetence. I know a few people taking semiglutide. They have lost weight and two no longer need their diabetes meds. That in itself is a great accomplishment. People criticizing skinny people taking the peptides isn't really fair. One of my friends I really didn't think she looked like she had much to lose but her 35lb loss has her free from meds now. She also admits that any time she had a problem with it it was because she had a meal rich in fats, but when eating clean foods she never had a problem. Also, there's a little bit of a myth about people taking these meds for weight loss and making it hard for people to get it who need it to help with weight loss for diabetes. There are all kinds of online doctors prescribing Semiglutide and some the name brands. There's also a few you can get them online without a doctor.

Dr Dubrow is very straightforward. This is very informative. You just knew as soon as everyone started using a shortcut to weight loss that you could see the commercials for class actions years from now with lawyers asking, did you take Ozempic? And then the laundry list of complications that people were going to have from it. Not the least of which is potential thyroid cancer. It absolutely makes sense that this could happen because, from someone on YT, who is on it, the food just sits in your stomach for days. That’s why you don’t feel hungry. It’s awful that this happened to her. Probably a combination of many factors. Opioids stop the normal GI plus all the other things. RIP Lisa Marie.

This helped me to get going in October and I subsequently started working out and lost 35lbs I have had follow up lab work and my creatinine levels were slightly off but nonetheless no other significant issues and I pray that none develop in the future 🙏

I went on ozempic for weight loss and I was so miserable. Nausea, diarrhea with constipation, stomach pains, tired all the time and pancreas pain. I was on this for 2 months and had to stop. I lost 16 pounds, but I couldn't function. I decided to continue to eat healthier, more exercise and back to fasting. Also i was pre diabetic, this was one of the reason i decided to do ozempic. And for the ones who will say just do the work to loss weight, i was walking 3 miles a day and trying to make better choices eating and fasting, just wasnt seeing results. I been off ozempic for three weeks and i feel so much better. Im still losing weight, by the right foods and moving more, i added weight lifting this time. I have about 20 more pounds to lose.

I'm a bariatric dietitian and bowel obstructions are a possible complication, but it is uncommon. I think the opioid use is a bigger player than Dr. Dubrow implied. She might not have noticed as much if she was on very high levels of opioids.

Agreed. She would have been on some strong meds to stay away from the hospital as long as she did. Pain is a signal our body is sending to alert to a problem. Using drugs are just a temporary bandaid. And a normal healthy human body should be having several bowel movements a day to flush the system. If you are not, there is an issue to be addressed. Can't believe how many people believe going several days without a BM is normal.

I had seven surgeries (not bariatric or for weight loss) over the years that caused scar tissue to form in my abdomen. I suffered occasional small intestine blockages many times from that scar tissue and was hospitalized. I was lucky that the condition resolved itself each time without more surgery. I haven’t had a blockage in 3 years. Here’s why: I have a neighbor, a Chiropractor, who I ran into one day and he asked how I was. When I told him about my recent hospitalization he suggested I try shockwave therapy to break up the scar tissue. I figured I had nothing to lose so I signed up for a series of treatments. It worked. I haven’t had a bowel obstruction in the 3 years since the treatments. Medical doctors need to think “outside” the box more often.

I remember sitting in on two autopsies for a masters program that I was completing at a hospital. Our class was so large that each day a different group would see a different type of autopsy. Some saw still births, some saw accidents with children etc. this gave me so much anxiety because fear welled up inside as the days grew closer for our observation day. I felt lucky on the day our group went though because our two cases appeared to have died of natural causes. There was one woman who had passed in her sleep. Easy peasey, she looked like a fake Hollywood dummy. I only say this because I assumed a dead person would look super gruesome and scary. She did not and everything went by the book. Second one, an inmate who passed in his cell after complaining of horrible stomach cramps for days. This one scarred me. When they got to his stomach the whole floor began to wreak. They pulled out his intestines and over half of it was completely black. They literally stretched it across the room to find where the necrosis/infection started. The pathologist was so angry because in the notes it stated that the prison Drs assumed the stomach cancer he had previously had come back so instead of properly checking him they started giving him chemo meds. The bowel obstruction caused a horrible infection which seeped into his blood stream and killed him. Sepsis. The pathologist yelled out “they killed that man.” . As students you can imagine we were scared as heck. We were ushered out not long after that but the smell I will never forget. It stuck to us all and we had to shower to get it off. Silly me I didn’t wash my hair. I very quickly regretted that because my hair stunk to high heavens. 1. I’ve read about intestines being so long but to see them in person will blow your mind. 2. To see anything black come out of someone’s body is so scary. 3. That smell will forever be etched in my psyche.

I’m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I recently started my raw vegan journey a few months ago. I take no medications and have perfect blood work. I weighed 120 pounds back in college in my 20s. I practiced vegetarianism because I disliked the cafeteria food. After moving back home to care for my elderly patients and my grandmother, I began to slip back into the Standard American Diet and gained weight. Since becoming vegan, I lost some weight. But now in my senior years, I am better able to control my weight and my blood pressure with a raw food diet of fruits and salads and juices. I’ve already lost 18 pounds and have 30 pounds more to reach my target weight of 120 again. I’m patient. Maybe lose a pound a week or a little less at my age. I would encourage people to be patient when it comes to weight loss. Also, as we age, we cannot get away with eating like we did when we were younger. Metabolism slows down. Blood thickens. Circulation slows down. All part of the natural process of aging. Don’t let food control you to the point that you are desperate and will try anything to lose weight. No one can control their weight and have healthy arteries long-term consuming animal products. Go plant-based and be patient. In time, you will be very happy you did. RIP beautiful Lisa-Marie. ❤️🙏🌹

Any abdominal surgery can cause scar tissue; not just bypass surgery. Having had bypass, I developed adhesions nearly 30 years after the surgery. I can’t imagine someone would not know something is terribly wrong. The pain is the worst you can imagine and definitely blood pressure through the roof. Not even sure it’s the drug that caused it (I never took ozempic; but I am on a regimen for spinal issues from a ruptured disk). but definitely being able to have access to really strong pain killers to ignore the problem would be where my thoughts would go for someone who is trying to ignore that kind of pain. Even on my pain meds; the pain was incredible. A 30 minute laparoscopic surgery later; I was like brand new! I am so thankful to the amazingly ER I went to, because they knew immediately what was wrong, but of course I was put on ‘no food’ for nearly 7 days because of ‘insurance’ protocols in ruling out an obstruction first. But I had all the morphine I wanted and even that didn’t cut the pain or lower my BP, so of course, I had all the meds to prevent having a stroke too. So if you have had abdominal surgery and you or a friend start having these symptoms, GO TO A GOOD Dr!!! Now; not later!!!

Your post is well received, but I disagree with your notion of "baby steps" and "willpower". Unfortunately we live in a culture DOMINATED by marketing and psychological conditioning. People have become to accustomed to the idea that hard work is no longer necessary because we humans, in all our brilliance, have the ability to make a magical pill for EVERYTHING. This leaves a brainwashed people with two choices. Make better choices and work towards a goal, DAY AFTER DAY, month after month, or, take a pill and exert NO EFFORT to get the same result in a fraction of the time. Perhaps a pedantic difference in word choice, but willpower and baby steps cannot be made without first making the CHOICE. Choices are what our entire existence on this planet boil down to at the end of the day.

Your suggestions and motivation are appreciated but many people just can't do what you're suggesting. You can't just simplify things, saying that everyone can do it - you're not appreciating the fact that some people just have permanent injuries, damages and physical handicaps that completely prohibit them from your advice. These are the ones who have to figure out other ways to lose weight- and it's then easy to fall for weight- loss gimmicks, which can be very dangerous, or resort to major bariatric surgeries to achieve weight loss, which, btw - has lead to much success for many people! Surgery ALWAYS comes with a risk/s though, so it should always be well researched, discussed at length were your doctor and much thought given to all aspects of the surgery, especially an ELECTIVE surgery, before you commit.

I had this happen. I had bad stomach cramps every time I ate. I lost 75lbs in 9 months without trying. Doctors said I was fine. I woke up one day and couldn’t even drink water. Three days I puked so badly I couldn’t get out of bed, no joke. We to the ER they said you go a bowl blockage but we would have to do exploratory surgery. They were sending me home to die. I called my bariatric surgeon he said don’t leave, no matter what don’t leave. He called them and they flew me by airplane to him. He said if I went home I’d have died. I’m not on ozempic but I do take a pain medication that slows my bowels.

I had my experience myself . I think Doctor is hundred percent right .people has to record their experiences with Ozempic and weight loss surgery in secure websites because no one listen at least it will be documented somehow for future listeners

I'm 52 now so some things don't bother me as much but after listening to this, I'll just stay a little thick. No harm done as long as I'm healthy and happy with myself

THANK YOU! THANK YOU for sharing this. I find it so concerning that that these medications are heavily advertised as 'solutions', but the risks of are not properly disclosed.

I was on Ozempic for T2 diabetes , had extreme nausea and felt constantly "stuffed" as if I'd just eaten . This was due to your metabolism was slowed down and it's what makes you loose weight. Never taking that again !

The same thing happened to my sister but a friend found her passed out on the floor and called an ambulance. She was dead for a few minutes but was revived, she lost all of her hair etc from having died. She said her only symptoms were like having the flue for three days before she passed out.

This definitely needs to be brought to everyone's attention so they can make an informed decision on whether or not they should start using ozempic, and how long they should take it.

2 years ago I was on Ozempic for a month for Type 2 diabetes. Woke up the day after taking my 4th injection not feeling good at all, just thought it was some kind of side effect and it would pass. Was taken to hospital, 5 hours later I was in having an operation where they had to remove part of my bowel. I will never, ever touch that stuff again. What is scary is a lot of doctors aren't educated on the risk and I have had a few tell me to go back on it.

I’ve been on Wellbutrin for awhile. Long story short, I was prescribed Naltrexone about two years ago. Those two together made me lose a ton of weight. I was never hungry. When I was, I’d take three or four bites and feel full. I thought I was dying. My husband figured out what was up. I stopped taking Naltrexone. My metabolism is still a little faster because of it. But, I do feel more in control. I hope I’m ok.
