My favourite choice in this game is the one where Buzzo tells you that you either kill 3 of your party members or he... cuts off one of Buddy's nipples. What's good about this choice is, that it's the only choice in the game, where one of the choices has absolutely no impact on the gameplay (as far as I can tell) and the other is the WORST (gameplay) choice to make by far, because you probably have your favourite team with you and you'll lose ALL of them. There's no reason at all to kill your party members. And yet it feels... wrong. It feels horrible to let Buzzo cut off her nipple. What is worse is that you get it as an item. And it's a horrible item at that.

I love Brad’s design. He looks so tough and aggressive but when he looking down, slouched, or laying down he looks sad and somber, like when he is up and ready to go he wants to show his tough side so he can look intimidating, while when he is alone and or walking around without wanting a fight he shows his true colors, a sad lonely boy that gets picked on and bullied.

You missed a few things. You can take fall damage from being on the bike, it just has to be from a higher place for you to take damage. The withdrawal effect happens regardless of whether you take Joy or not. You're kinda forced to take it anyway. The importance of the cliffs being where they are is that you need to pay attention to what you're doing, and treat it with a pair of tweezers. [SPOILERS] Quite an assumption to make that he doesn't care about anyone else other than his second chance. I always just saw it that he didn't want everyone to take advantage of her, as he explains towards the end of the game. I don't like how people hate on Brad, like it was his fault for anything that's happened to him. Sure, he took Joy, but it was because he wanted to stop feeling miserable. I'm sure there's a lot of people who share my sentiment. I, for one wasn't satisfied with the poor ending that Brad met. Poor soul.

Also during the entire time, even since he was a karate teacher, Bernard Buttfart (Buzzo) was torturing him. He blamed brad for lisa’s death, and when he found buddy, it was actually buzzo setting her there, just to help buzzo torture brad.

I just finished this game and here's some advice for people who want this game: Even if it means looking at a walkthrough, try to 100% everything on your first go, the bad ending leaves you so empty inside. The game gives you a warning for the point of no return, so I'd recommend looking at a walkthrough at that moment.

SPOILERS Another incorrect statement: "I'm not talking permadeath or anything, because when a character falls you can just revive them." I'm guessing you didn't come across any of the numerous mutants that, yes, CAN cause permadeath! They literally wipe out your character. It's a lot rarer and happens later in the game but it's totally 100% possible.
@NitroRad7 жыл бұрын
I meant "Not permadeath" as in if a character dies, they don't permanently stay dead. Death being inflicted, wiping out the member forever, is a separate, different thing.
@headphonic87 жыл бұрын
NitroRad Oh yeah, I mean not in every instance but permadeath is definitely possible for your characters in battle (the status effect "dead", caused by some attacks like Fatal Chomp). It's not just something that can happen in cutscenes. I think saying it doesn't happen in general kinda understates just how unforgiving the game it.

Gotta imagine how hard it must have been to code in all the systems unique to Lisa... For those wondering, RPG Maker VX Ace's standard systems function similarly to an old Dragon Quest game. Top down visuals, and when battle hits, the enemy is right in front of you. Now, they obviously kept the second part as is, but the change from the small top-down map to a much larger sidescroller map, and the addition of a combo system... That must have taken a while to code in.

Trust me, making a side-scrolling game in RPG Maker is insanely difficult. Hell, making a simple RPG game can also be hard, depending on what you want done.

TheDarkSpion Huh, I always saw Brad as loving Rando a lot, and he felt like he failed to protect Rando when he got hurt, so he thought that Buddy was his second chance at being a father, hence his EXTREMELY protective attitude. I really loved Lisa. The Earthbound vibe was really great not only in the "quirky" way, but in the way that the game presents itself. The text/prose that was not expository, but like a friend telling you something. Great humor, too, so the more dense stuff hits really harder. It was inspiring, too. If one man could do all that through only effort (and still having a life outside of the programming, like, having other hobbies) everyone could do it, too.

playing this game made me step back from the pressure of choosing the “right” path in a video game, and simply just choose things to experience the story in my own unique way. A lot of the times I was worrying if giving up certain party members would hinder me in the future, but I slowly accepted that I would have to make choices and they probably all have very interesting outcomes. I’ve never experienced that acceptance in an indie RPG before. It’s very clever

...Shit, man. This the first video I've seen from you and... Damn. I don't ever admit to something like this, but I wish I could look like you. o-o'" Aside from that this review was very well done with great editing, sound quality, and overview. Plus you actually reviewed LISA, which in and of itself is worthy of points. Subbed.

My party i us (that is amazing) is, Jack - magic guy, Birdie - drunk guy, Nerd - you know that son of a bitch. Magic guy/Jack does damage to an entire party and does fire damage he and Birdie are by far my favorite. =]

Speaking of characters that's also one of the unique aspects, since the only repeating enemies are wildlife and those shadowy figures, along with reusing some Rando Soldier skins. Other than those every enemy is unique, with their own names.

Sad thing for me. My growing up was just like Brad's. My mother is better now. I went through abusing boyfriend after abusive boyfriend. Sister going through shit (not rape, thank God.) I ran into the most abusive boyfriend of my mom. And told him to fuck off. He made my life hell. I'm personally glad he's on the run from the cops. Fucking Travis. But thankfully, I discovered your channel around this time of my life. You helped me go through life more optimistic-like. I thank you. You also introduced me to all my favorite games. We all love ya James. Don't ever stop doing what you do. You have any inspired me in every way possible! I know you won't see this but I just wanted to throw it out there.

You've mentioned EarthBound a bunch of times now, but have yet to actually give your opinions on the game. Do you plan on taking a look at it; or any games in the Mother series??

NitroRad How about Mother 4? It's a fan-made game that looks EXTREMELY promising and has been through development for 2 years. I remember seeing it when it was first announced and was like, Okay. Now im like; Holy SHIT, this game looks amazing.

i played every ounce of content in undertale but just recently bought LISA and i already feel like it's better than undertale ten-fold
@gygiselysse63725 жыл бұрын
Why?
@corvidaesapiens5 жыл бұрын
@@gygiselysse6372 because LISA has a deeper meaning, deeper plot, better characters... is a better game. Undertale has its strenghts - the dynamic battle system and the music, but LISA is just simply better in many people's opinions.

Awesome review nitro, I might have to check out this game now it has intrigued me and sparked my interests, just thinking about the premise gets my head going, what would you do in such a scenario?

12:40 Because it's easier on the developer's part. Think of yourself as the maker of the game. Would you rather make a lot more bosses with unique designs and details or just raise the HP on an already existing boss?

Good review, but in the wrestling area, you can farm all you want (I did it, actually, I leveled everyone in my party until they learned they last skill, except seven characters, because they entered my party too late, or I didn't found them) and recieve 2000 XP everytime you win. Luckily it's a really late area, and guess what, I expended 9 hours for four or five more important fights!

you know, after seeing this review ages ago. finally playing the game after so long, i get it now, everything that he said, its strange to think that i played this game that ive been wanting to play for like 5 years ago now. I even looked up some other lisa fangames to play as i assumed there were more then 2, and there was, i hope you review this sometimes as those 4 videos have always been seen by me as your best videos you've made.
