It's possible we only knew part of Dr.Yato's plan. It's likely that Yato knew about the flash before it happen as he was one of the only ones that was in contact with women after the flash. Buzzo even says at one point that "Buddy would have been an asset to the women" implying that Buzzo and Yato had more women stashed away

3:44 This bit of lore was actually canonized after I brought it up when someone asked why Yado had a vaccine. I said that a God complex implies superiority over the beings one rules over and thus not wanting to be one of them, which is why Yado would keep a vaccine around to not turn himself. Austin liked it and said that it'd now be canon. Which was one of my proudest moments, to add to my favourite game series of all time. Even if it's just a footnote to a potential plot hole. I ain't picky. I could probably find the twitter exchange where I brought it up if I went digging.

He probably designed the mutated subjects to be soothed by the melody of his trumpet, and kept that detail to himself to be their sole ruler. Hell, you could even argue that he is costantly guiding Brad subconciously since most if not all the overworld themes have trumpets sound in it.

Yado...We know so little about why he created Olathe...what drove him to end the world...we can only guess... Was he a scientist whom felt like he had the means to rule the world? Was he a man whom felt under appreciated in the military and felt cheated by the failure of his project? Was he driven mad by its failure? Makes you wonder what he would have done if Buddy didn’t confront him in Joyful. Would he have become a big deal? A mysterious warlord whom could “control” the monsters? We can only speculate what Yado could have become if his plan gained momentum without Buddy’s interference... Yado fills the role of behind the scenes villain perfectly, with the small encounters we get from him in the game he seems like a very entitled and prideful man of science, whom is driven by a warped mentality of megalomania. Nice vid as always Squatch! Keep it up and stay Joyful!

Hell, I could make a fan game where big Lincoln and buddy bake cookies for 30 years and it’d be considered canon.

The one issue i have is that Yado’s wife must have died recently due to the fact how her body is still, well, mostly intact. Meaning that she had to have died fairly recently to the unfolding of the events of the Painful and Joyful. But if that’s the case, why would she let Yado take Nancy away and wait years to kill her. Seeing as she’s in a small room, i’m assuming Yado kept her as a prisoner. Another point is who is the researcher who was hung in the nice neighborhood? Why was he still alive until the recent unfolding of events? Also thank you for explaining all of this. My dumb brain couldn’t understand everything in the story.

Haha. Thanks, man. I was a little worried about this one, to be honest. I had to flesh out some of Yado's story myself, and I thought some people may be upset by it, but it's seems to be well regarded so far!

@@SquatchGamingChannel Truth be told, most of the plot of lisa went by too fast for some people, and not all of it was analyzed right. Heck some have written Yado off as a last minute villain, but I never thought about what he was actually going through. This is probably the only flaw of the story being told through the protagonist and not knowing what the bad guy are really up too. It's recommended to play the game blind first and search for theory video s later.

I personally always felt that his not fighting Buddy was due to the typical cowardice expected of him, as Buddy comments. He's a scientist, not a fighter or even really a commander, which is why he's unsure as to what he's supposed to do when he's directly confronted with nothing to throw between him and his adversary.

I could see that argument, but I would argue that he didn't hesitate to gun Nancy's Mother down, and the battle with Buddy shows that he DID have something to throw between them as he used his throne to attack her in the battle. I didn't get the feeling that he was afraid of her, but was holding back.

A small comment on the joy trigger: The trigger wasn't violence exactly. The trigger is tied to the person's personal greatest desire. And the trigger comes in two types for two different results: 1. The person successfully achieves their goal of getting what they want. They then transform into a fully content beast that is in eternal bliss, or Joy. 2. The person receives some kind of confirmation that it is no longer possible to ever achieve their goal, no matter what they do. This results in the violent Joy mutants who are constantly angry and sad. These are the ones that will lash out and hurt anyone that gets near.

Just a small thing but exponentially is not used to describe that something “grows a lot” or “fast”. It’s used to describe something that grows faster and faster, think of it as “the bigger it is the faster it grows”. Understandable why you would think so though as a lot of politicians and other official roles use the word in that way. Just remember that they are good at talking but that’s about it. Great video though, especially as LISA videos are kinda rare!

Good Question! In the "Joyless" ending of the Painful, Yado is talking about the "failure" of the Joy experiments with Buzzo, and he mentions he's going to use "her" to achieve his goal, that "her" being Nancy. Buzzo then says something along the lines of "Jeez, Yado. You can't do that. That's your daughter." Then Yado himself admits to Buddy that he's her Father, which would mean her name is Nancy. But even if you believe Yado to be untrustworthy in that moment, when you look at the big picture (all he needed to achieve, his hesitation in killing Buddy when he had no issues killing her mother, his willingness to help her when it was clear his plan was going as expected), there's a extremely heavy implication that Buddy is Nancy. Hope that cleared things up for you!

I had a similar thought; I believed it could have been his wife, but Ding-A-Ling (the developer) actually confirmed that Sweetheart, unmutated, was a character that wasn't introduced in the games.

Squatch Gaming Official Dang, I thought I was onto something when I booted up the game for myself and went to go check Tiger Man's Head equipment to check if it could be called a mask, but even the game's description of the Tiger Head is "Is this even a mask...?" I'm privy to think the whole world since it seems rather unlikely that just one country would become a wasteland without aid from other countries for many years, but no other regions are ever mentioned so I can't say definitively. Maybe Olathe IS the world, and there are no other places! What do you think?

I think so too, but the main issue is that I think the whole concept of having all women (or at least most of them) die off in one night to be really weird and unrealistic, it should've been explained better. Also thanks for replying, your story videos are very enjoyable.

Yeah, that's the super weird part. I've seen several theories trying to explain the Flash, from a weapon that only affected those without the Y-Chromosome (only women) to systemic extermination of the women through unspecified means (perhaps the Creeps who are hinted to be violent to women), and that's before getting into the idea that women are alive but are in hiding (Buzzo mentions Buddy would be an asset for the women), but it's always left a mystery. I've always just accepted that the story isn't about explaining the weirdness of the Flash, but of the struggles of a Parent trying to protect their child from the messed up world they have to grow up and live in. I think yado’s meant to be some sort of parallel to buddy, the whole wanting dominion and conquest thing and both fantasizing about being worshipped buddy and yado would probably look the same from the perspective of anyone who doesn’t know anything about either. I don’t know if that’s considered obvious among the fans or not but I haven’t seen anyone mention it, that’s just my guess though

Btw any chance you could do OFF, at some point after your done with the lisa series? Because theirs a lot of stuff in that game that was written off too quickly compared to undertale's genocide route. Like say for example, is the whole world telling a meda story through a Purgatory fever dream, about how Hugo really died and for the reason. Maybe the Batter ending, portrays him turning off his sons life support, to end his suffering.

@@SquatchGamingChannel Well the game is free to play and there when you want to experience it, but the puzzles are insane to solve. But yeah the story is something worth experiencing. Heck, I found it interesting enough that I made the batter fight brad in one of my video's on my KZbin. Just to note if you watch it theirs a lot of cringe voice acting but the fight itself was my best work in that video.

Whats the deal with buddy and her baby. When buddy gets to decide if she drops rando or not will determine if she has a baby in the end. But if you drop rando she has a baby and if not she gets molested but doesnt have a baby. It always confused me
