Much appreciated! Since Reckless is a love letter to the fan developers in the LISA community, the game will show an occasional nod/reference as a show of appreciation to their games. Fortunately, we're also aware folks want an original story within the universe. About 96% of the game's characters, plot, sprites, (etc) is-and-will-be completely original. The other 3-4% are the quick references. This includes Ern (a passing nod to Torrrington's team's game) for extremely brief moments.

@@SoloBlue-ee2hw in general, it's pretty bad form to wholesale take other people's assets, seemingly without any permission from the devs for your own project. As is, these don't read like cameos and little tongue in cheek references to other fangames. They're gonna ultimately be a bigger detriment towards the reception of your game than it'd actually help it, 'cause they're just stolen assets soiling the rest of the content.

Its a free fan game, I doubt anyone felt the need to ask Austin to use assets from painful, so why does assets from other fangames be any different. I personally feel that if they give credit then it should be fine. But your thoughts that the cameos/references could be more subtle is valid.

looks good! father/son bonding is an interesting place to take this universe - excited to see how it ties into the core of the rest of the game. for what it's worth, i like the little nods to other games. i'd be a little concerned if they were done without running it by the original creators, but assuming that's the case i think they make the world feel smaller, in a good way. good luck with the project, you've got me excited

fingers crossed on this one aside from liking what i see so far it would be cool to get some confirmation if this is still happening. so many fan game projects for this fanbase tends to have promising starts and then something happens, cue empty internet drama or the people who are working on it get burnt out or IRL drops a steaming one in their lap and they have to deal with and if they ever come back that's another story altogether. now i'm not trying to be super negative but i really want to see something new succeed that's not just a joke mod/perspective mod for the millionth time. i wish all who work on this good luck and looking forward as always to new stories set in the world of olathe.

Though, understandable, is it confirmed that they were used without permission? And for some reason I never really see this issue brought up with other Lisa fan game. I don’t think the creator means any Ill-will, seems to just be references. I would like to see some confirmation on this though. Because if this is the only issue, I don’t really see why people are still getting so upset.

That intro was genuinely good. I for a moment there was really invested in the story told there, despite the mother's death being predictable with it being a lisa game, It still hit me. However, I am begging you to please remove the ern cameo after the dialogue intro. It took me out of the moment so badly and lessened some of the investment that was built up to that moment. If their inclusion at best doesn't add anything meaningful and at worst feels completely jarring and out of place then what's the point of having them? Obviously, the game hasn't even come out yet, so we can't really be 100% sure on if the references in the game genuinely say something meaningful, but so far, from the references that we have seen, they seem like they don't really serve any other purpose besides being a nod to an already existing piece of media. And you know what, that's fine! If you wanna have a nod to something you love, then go ahead, it's your game! But don't have it be completely out of place and draw attention from the focus of your scene, and instead have it be something you could miss, like in a optional side area.
