One of the things I realized today after watching this video, is that once you figure out that the person criticizing you is a narcissist, why would even care anymore what their opinion of you is... Think about it like this: imagine a person that you have a lot of respect for, could be anyone who you know is a healthy person, this person tells you that you're excellent and that they're very impressed by you, this makes you feel good... now imagine that you're walking down the street and for no reason at all some random bum laying on the ground looks up and tells you, that you're a loser and a piece of crap... would you care? No, because clearly the bum laying on the street is in no position to tell you who you are... The narcissist is a bum emotionally and internally, even if they look healthy externally. So once it clicks in your mind that the person you're dealing with is a narcissist, you can see them as that bum, then their opinions and put downs should have no effect on you.

I am a person who acts if I see injustice towards anyone. As a result I became a target of a narcissist work colleague. I applied this tip after years of abuse from him while continuing with my call. I would just ignore the person and continue giving others my attention. I would just act as if he doesn’t exist, no greeting or acknowledging him. All of a sudden boom... I don’t exist to them too. He applied the same strategy on me and I love it because we stay out of each other’s way.

This video is so valid. I just walked in the house where I'm the full time caregiver for my abusive narcissistic grandmother and after putting her groceries away she immediately came after me b*tching at me for something she messed up. She called me a liar over and over again when I told her it was her issue not mine. She's now sitting on the couch pouting. It's crazy how one person can cause so much trouble and cause crazy making drama and still believe they are never wrong. My grandmother is 93 years old. Narcissists and the abuse they inflict never gets better, they only get worse with time. Get away from them as soon as you can and don't look back!

As someone who studies (violent) crime I would like to mention that the moment no contact starts (with a violent partner)... the next 2 years are the most dangerous time in such relationships. If contact occurs, the 2 year stretch starts over. Get out of violent relationships as soon as you can and if possible; make sure you have help staying safe for the 2 years after leaving. I agree. A NARC doesn't want to let go. They blameshift onto others their own vomit and project. They troll and cannot apologize, even when they are caught. They are unable to see, how insensitive they sound and act towards others. They point fingers, not noticing that three of their fingers are pointing back at them, and their monkey see monkey doers follow. Simply mad thinking and crazy making circle talk.

That was one of the important signs I had that made me realize the toxic situation with a now ex-friend. I spent a summer away from them living my life (they were my housemate for years and so I could rarely escape them for longer periods of time) and I was so at PEACE! I had more self-esteem and energy to interact with others, to work towards my own goals, to get healthier (I even lost weight in a healthy and fulfilling manner and didnt even notice it happened), my acne cleared up! That was a wake up call.

@airari244 жыл бұрын
@@princessak21 That's difficult! When that happens I feel like a disturbance or burden was put on me; like I've expressed I want space etc, but they keep contacting me from time to time and I feel that puts one in the position of having to do more emotional labour than them right then. Like, you have to figure out your feelings and reign them in enough to respond how you wish, you have to phrase things a certain way not to set off a huge issue but make your point, you have to make clear that you don't want to deal with them without putting yourself in an incriminating situation (my ex-friend would twist things to other people), you have to maturely respond and push aside any jabs/triggering things they throw your way, etc. Good luck, and remember that peace and self-growth are much better than giving in to their attempts to reel you back in. The advice towards the end about becoming boring to the narcissist and taking away their satisfaction of seeing you react is the background explanation I so craved as a child when my mom told me to ignore people who hassled me at school as a solution to the taunting.
@debhadden2054 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Very much needing the tools you are presenting right now. Two family members have severe Covid which is forcing me to be in contact with the individual who engages in very narcissistic control over the whole family. The games have begun and as her sister-in-law, married to her most accommodating brother, I have had to slip in the background to keep the family drama down from my end. Even though I have been in the family for well over 30 years, I realize I am only an accessory. You have given extremely valuable information to be boring. Naturally, I would very much like to be an active force for healing in the family, but to do so would make the narcissistic feel challenged, so I'm going to just have to let it go for peace's sake. Thank so much Lisa!!!!! I believe your advice has literally rescued me with a new focus that will preserve both my mental and physical health, and also the health of my marriage.

I stayed away from controversial subjects and politics. I declined ALL get togethers and events. If they asked about something that I attended, I’d say it went well and change the subject to the weather. The relationship dissolved, why because the Narc NEEDS supply. A rock doesn’t and won’t ever serve as supply.

Thanks for explaining how to go on leaving any narcissists behind still in narcissism swamp. I had no choice when developing a thick skin. Now my biggest problem is after finally admitting it that I take after my dad in that I can at times when bored feel less attentive to my immediate surroundings like the space that would be on my sewing machine desk in front of me and instead feel more drawn into any kind of chaos happening around me including just outside of my door down the hall or the other floor under my feet just in hopes that I too can maybe be one of the problem solvers there too. My eldest son told me off not too long ago about that by saying, "You have to learn how to mind your own business better". And so I better start working alone on my own internal conflicts first more often until I take on any new major project again.

I work with several narcs. One of them developed an inappropriate crush on me and tried to groom me. I set boundaries and they think “I’m rude” now. This person even saw me get into a car accident after work and drove away unaffected. Insane.

Could you please explain how being co dependent as a child and for a very long time.....After with a husband, no comment..., We are boring people so much seeking (absurdly) for some kind of affection or friendship. Silly isnt it? Now I try to keep far away from people not to ennoy them and also to be at Peace. Namaste 💖 Lisa .

Hi Lisa been married to an alcoholic and an narcissistic person for 18 years . Which I have only just discovered, since she left the family home 8 months ago. I done everything frobringingng up my children on my own to taking her and giving my heart. Now she wants a divorce. Since watching this channel I have leant what gaslighting means, how she has controlled everything. I am an empathic person. I know why she told me 20 plus years ago I picked YOU. I feel so hurt, used. She is not living in house, as she been arrested for attacking me whilst intoxicated. She blames me. From the UK.

You have to put the focus back on yourself and screw them , what goes around come around for each syllable and each word that they speak will come back on them three times over karma

There's un big bunch of ex jw's who are making fun about me. My English is bad. Not that bad for a second language after brain aneurysm ruptures. People are making fun about me, I can't change that! It is hurting me bad, it is from the people who are supposed to understand where I come from. The ex-jw community. I will erase all those idiots who are acting like a 2 years old. I was 17 when I wrote my dissaciated letter. Sometimes, it hurts. They are supposed to know! I think that lots of them are still : mentally in. . . !

You are free! Every wise person in history attracted ridicule from unhappy folks. Socrates. Heraclitis. Moses. Buddha. Jesus. St Francis. Lincoln. Gandhi. Li Po. Han Shan. MLK. It's normal. Stay free & bless the world. I think you are terrific!
