No joke, I get compliments on my makeup quite often, and I truly credit you, Lisa, as I’ve been a faithful watcher since 2011. I recently told my coworker that I spend most of my time blending and perfecting, rather than, to your point, piling things on. She said that sometimes she can’t tell what I’m wearing because the edges all are blurred together, and so I explained that blending is the key. A few days later she proudly showed me her eyeshadow application, which she said she spent ample time blending in. It really looked significantly better, and she was glowing, she was so happy! Thank you for being a true professional and reminding us that we don’t have to pile on 17 layers of product to achieve a beautiful face! ❤🎉

She does this because she is an actual artist. The same philosophy and technique works with fine art as well- you create dimension and images with erasers and scraping tools as much as you do with pencils or paintbrushes. Negative space is as important as the space that is filled, and this works for blending and depth in makeup as well. She's amazing! 🎨💄

Exactly, and that includes silence in music, or stillness in performing. [Edit] actually her first sentence by Coco Chanel is basically how I go about interpreting music. First I write on the sheet everything I feel like doing, and as I work the ideas into the piece, they become a lot more minimal and refined to really complement the piece rather than overpower it.

Yes! 100%! This is something I've realized as I've gotten 'wiser' (I'm over 55). Good prep, good moisture, light application, and good blending truly go a long way to accentuating my features in a kind way. Another tip I've learned is to mix moisturizer with foundation to sheer it out and add a dewey finish.

My glamourous nana always had a clean 2nd powder puff and brush to do exactly this, so as a little girl, sitting on the floor watching her, I absorbed this technique and have always done the same ... it really makes a massive difference .. I even keep a small set of 2/3 clean brushes in my car so that when I see myself in the rear-view mirror I can correct quickly thrown on make-up especially around jawline/neck (tide-lines my nana called them!!), I am LOVING your new skin-tint BTW, it is fantastic .. I even use a small amount as concealer when using your foundation because it doesn't crease and blends beautifully!!!

I love this idea - going to pull out my unused brushes to see which ones will do this job! My tip: When I’m all done with my makeup I always crumple a tissue into a ball and ever so lightly tap around my face - it picks up makeup that may be just sitting atop the skin as well as doing a final tap-buff - it’s also great throughout the day just on the parts of the face that may get shiny

Blending but also not excessive amounts of makeup! I can’t believe when I see tutorials how much foundation and concealer they pack on. I clicked on this video so fast to learn a coveted Lisa tip and instead I was validated that my clean brush technique I've been doing for years make a huge difference! I've even had a young college girl ask me how I blended out my blush because it was so natural and I told her about using a clean brush to blend out the edges and soften it up. I started using a clean brush after my base many years ago because I wanted to to smooth it out and absorb some of the moisture before applying my powder products! Thank you Lisa for all the wonderful tips. Edit to add that I commented this before I finished the video and I love how you address us finger appliers! I myself love using my fingers and yes it makes a big difference :)

Blend. Blend. Blend. Soften and slightly wipe away. Blur it out. I sometimes at the absolute end take a little hand cream and apply it to the apples of my cheeks and the bridge of my nose for a little glow and tamp down any setting powder. Great video topic, Lisa!

Dear Lisa. I got your palest foundation last week and it is absolutely beautiful. I always have to use the palest shades available in any foundation, so I was absolutely delighted that your foundation matched my skin tone perfectly. I have been watching and learning from your videos for a very long time, especially when I want to use coloured eyeshadows. You always give a wonderful tutorial on how to use jewel toned eyeshadow to suit all ages. You are so, naturally, beautiful that you can use yourself to model any particular look you want to achieve. However, I do love when you have a guest to show how certain looks can be achieved, like the Elizabeth Taylor look. It was absolutely stunning. I also love when you do Eva Green's makeup. The finished look is always stunning and so full of imagination. I find watching your videos, and listening to you voice, very calming. Congratulations on your beautiful makeup line and I can't wait to see more videos from you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us and I wish you even more success going forward. 🎨🖌️💄💄👄👄🌹🌹💐💐

Such awesome synchronicity Lisa! I literally didn't like how my base was looking afew weeks ago after applying a few pumps, then grabbed my clean kabuki brush and went over it, and said "Voilà!" Now, that you've confirmed how great this is, I know it was meant to be! Thank you!❤🌺🙏

hi lisa, ive first started watching you in 2013, and as a young man with zero knowledge, your videos are such a godsend. i still wear makeup daily, i take care of my skin so i can get away with just concealing, but everything i do, from spot concealing to identifying and painting the shadows away to subtle highlighting, i learnt from you!...my mates are amazed i use sooo little but with maximum impact. and probably as a srudent of your philosophy and approach, i do my own hack, which is washing my hands, leaving them damp and actually using the fleshy parts of my palm and back of hands to both blend and.lift off the "excess" or whatever that feels too much. It really does make a world of difference. my kit is small but formidable, thanks to you! ilu so much!

Thank you Lisa. Great tips. I normally apply my foundation in a very thing layer. Don’t like when foundation looks like a mask. But will definitely keep a clean old brush for blending edges etc. XO 😊

I love this. Thank you. In the same vein, when I use powder foundation, which I often do in very hot summer weather, I use a damp, completely wrung out face cloth, and press it into my face after the powder foundation, blush, bronzer and highlighter have been applied. Melds everything together and removes excess. Also sets it. But I never had a hack for liquids and creams. Thanks for the video!💚

Brilliant advice about brushes. I also prefer to enhance the natural look. Being 62 I have to use more make up than ever just to look as though I have a face but I would never cake on foundation or use 6 products just to create the base as I see some you tubers do. I hope you have a retailer in Australia. Looking forward to trying your tint, and your foundation.

I use a few of my older brushes for the inevitable eyeshadow/eye area products that love to end up on my upper cheeks. Depending on if my blush choice is powder or cream determines the brush/tool I prefer for the final blending phase of my face/neck. I have been told by a select few that my application process was doing way too much. I'm glad that I could just laugh it off and not give into the peer pressure, because everyone's relationship with makeup is unique. I loved that this video provided several confirmations as well as a few new helpful tips, ty

Thank you, Lisa, this is great, I''ll definitely try ❤️ I'm brush & sponge girl, for some products I use only fingers, so little bit of everything. Only one thing I'm actually doing is bouncing sponge on every layer of make-up and on edges (bronzer, blush, concealer), it is same sponge I use for base 😉 I really enjoy your technique pin-point concealing (hope I wrote it right) - it is PERFECT ❤️ Have a nice day, looking forward on next video 😊🖐️
