Also they did this with the casting of Annabeth in the new Percy Jackson show. She a good actress but she's going to get hate because she Black, playing a white character. Which is weird concerning the author of the series writes all of his stories with diversity (race, skin tones, nationality ,lgbtq+, disabilities etc) in mind.

My issue with the Snow White remake is that, instead of taking the opportunity to make a positive representation of dwarfism, they just avoided the topic entirely and make CGI "magical creatures" that look... like uncanny caricatures of people with dwarfism. What's the message here, that they can't be shown on screen, that they are creatures that shouldn't exist in real life? Whoo I'm so not up-to-date with pop moments of the year, thanks for the recap! But I'm making a recap of my biggest project to date on my channel : remastering old anime to bluray quality before they get lost to time. So proud of myself ngl haha, I have to talk about it

honestly I'm not knowledgeable about the people with dwarfism, so I don't have an opinion, but Disney has always been not so great at representation in general, and their business practices too... Oh I'm glad to hear you're doing that, it sucks that so many shows become lost

@@LisaFevral I'm no expert on it either but I have read people on the subject, and yeah you can't expect nice things anymore.... It all started with my favourite anime : Ojamajo Doremi. All we had from the dub was (and still is) an old TVrip with mono sound because no DVD were ever made, so basically once the potato quality was unwatchable it became lost media. And today I'm proud to say that not only it is bluray quality with cleaned up sound (as much as I could...) but we also found the lost episode that was missing since 2008!

You would think Rachel Zegler pissed on everyone's cereal and pushed their grandma down the stairs with all the hate she's gotten. All she did was have a bad take about an 86-year-old movie. And the hate she got for the SAG-AFTRA strike comments is just idiotic. "She wants to be paid for every second she wears that dress?! And every time her movie plays?!?! Wow, so entitled!!" as if "wearing that dress" wasn't her job, and that movie wasn't her (and PLENTY of others') work. Everyone should compensated for every second they work, and every time that work is shown. That's one of the big things the strikes were about. People were just mad that Snow White would be played by a Latina actress and latched on to the first "valid" reason they found to hate her.

The thing with Rachel is so wild to me, especially the fact that it has nothing to do with the comments she made. I personally do find those types comments and fake feminist takes on disney princesses annoying, but it's really not a big deal, people were just trying to find an excuse to hate on Rachel because they already hated her for being an outspoken poc woman playing a previously white princess and that makes misogynistic racist people mad. I personally would like it if Snow White kept her romantic and delicate personality, and would really like a developed love story between her and the prince, and I don't like the constant girlbossification of female characters. With that being said, it has nothing to do with Rachel, if that truly was the issue they would be directing their anger at Disney and the whole weird "feminism" thing it has going on, because Rachel is just doing her part. But no, because that is not their problem, they just want an excuse to hate on her without confronting their racism and misogyny.
@LisaFevral11 ай бұрын
yeah, I'm more annoyed by shallow writing than characters being "girlbosses"(these phenomena are closely related though), and even if the writing is creating a shallow girl boss, it is still created by the writers/directors/and ESPECIALLY producers, not Rachel. So you are 100% right, they're just pissed that a young poc woman speaks her mind, and I can't stand that people are so quick to jump on that misogynist bandwagon, without even noticing that they allowed themselves to be so easily tricked into being hateful towards yet another woman

yea disney has gone down hill and i have a theory that i noticed that everytime they try something new or add a women or a brown person the writing is like lazy ? and bad ,,,,like the little mermaid was genually shocking that is was good and even then there where odd choices in that movie. like they dont know how to write someone thats not white and straight and just freaking ai chat fill in scripts. so if it bombs the rascist win and it" looks" like they tried . example doctor who ,yara ashed as tinker bell and so many more. like adding brown ppl in already flawed stories is never gonna be as good as actually writing for us.

Okay but you’re 100% right about american football. I can’t name a single american football player and I live in a place that gets quite a lot of american immigrants and visitors. I’m assuming there’s like at least one called James or Chad or something but idk. Ngl for years I thought it was just football but they wear pads. Before I found out it was serious I thought it was like a running joke in movies about how they have to wrap up their precious baby boys in bubble wrap before they’re allowed to play sport or something. Now all I know about american football is that a) it’s real and b) the pads actually lead to more injuries because the psychology of wearing them makes players feel more protected than they actually are. And one of my friends showed me how to hold and throw that kind of ball, it’s a little bit different to a rugby ball

Nitpick, but the idea that Snow White was a child and the prince was an adult is actually a very modern, ragebait take. In all of the stories they're the same age, and in most of them they actually know eachother and are in love before the events of the story but don't acknowledge it because they're afraid. The kiss was originally framed more as them acknowledging the feelings that were already there, because the prince was pushed into a corner where it was like "Acknowledge your love for her or she basically dies," and for some reason the Disney version removed all of the exposition that made it make sense.

+ the beginning scene with them interacting is made to stabilish that they have feelings for each other, and the kiss is supposed to just be a symbol of his affection(+the bitterness of them never being able to actually live their love, etc) . This means more than the original tale, where the prince IS just a rando that wanted to take a beautiful girl's body to the castle, but ended up saving her by dropping the casket by accident, making her spit out the apple. Despite the very real issue with consent, the "true loves kiss rule" kinda sets up that there can be no ill intention behind said kiss, and both characters must have a very deep connection beforehand. Only true love saves.

I also wanted add to the Rachel conversation as a black woman ( who’s also is a lesbian). Even if she fully thinks “ the princess needing to save by a prince” and “princess that don’t fight” are played out , I’m not surprised. WOC ( plus the intersection of queerness) have to fight to be seen as feminine everyday. It’s no surprise to me she does not resonate with the original snow white. We constantly deal with our femininity being strap away from us by men and white women. One example of this is ppl speculating if Serena Williams was a man or not throughout her career. A lot of women like us have never experienced being saved by a men. Out of everyone I get oppressed by it’s usually in men and out of my community. Out of all the girl-boss media there is like “girl math” and jokes about lobotomies, what she said is definitely not my biggest concern. People will take any excuse to belittle and demonize WOC every time !

doja wants to be irreverent so badly, i dont get her, no one has hurt her as much as herself, everything she says is against her.

Also, people had high expectations for Disney and Snow White because Elle Fanning did such a good idea with Aurora, who is very similar in nature to Snow White.

I always felt something was off with the hate on the Snow White actress, but you said it perfectly.

Rachel Zegler is truely so talented and will be joining the list of talented girlies who get shat on in their first few years in the industry only for everyone to turn around and love them. Why do people care more about her saying an OPINION they don’t agree with in one interview than male celebs who have histories of abuse/ toxicity etc lmao like it’s actually insane

I love your rants this video was so funny to watch i agree with the rachel issue it was just another case of people being racist and misogynist 🤢

Does anyone know where I can become more educated on the Gal situation? I was a fan of her as Wonder Woman back in the day & I’m only aware of the Imagine video & some problematic elements in the Wonder Woman 2. Has she done anything else problematic I’m not aware of?

She is a VERY hardcore Zionist and supporter of Israel and the IDF (the Israeli army)

Probably for refusing to justify a ceasefire in Gaza after the October 7th massacres, she said that it’s impossible to even consider a ceasefire when people are being held captive on there. People used to try and cancel her for ages for simply being Israeli tho so it’s probably just antisemitism
@violetception11 ай бұрын
@@eyalshelly2682 people have been upset with her for years, primarily for her staunch support of the idf (after having served in it herself). her stance on the ceasefire is really nothing new and is a position she's held for a long time. people aren't happy that hollywood has given a platform to someone that unequivocally supports apartheid and the murder of civilians. i'm sure she's received some level of antisemitism, as it is a worldwide issue, but a vast majority of mainstream critique has been how she defends and justifies the atrocities committed by israel.

27:40- 27:56 yeah it’s kinda like culture differences cuz celebrity culture here is parsing almost anything celebs do like the same way with the royal family in the UK. You will come across fans who’s either a fan of kpop celebs or western celebs (or both) and they’ll say “is this a movie, or dream” and more other stuff they say. It’s okay if you don’t get it cuz you’re not that into celeb culture and see them as regular human beings who’s rich and popular Ps the footballers name is Travis Kelice but you’re gonna forget it after reading that 😂😭
