Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 Lisa, I’m new to Procreate but have used Photoshop years ago. Could you please let me know first if this is a good kit to start with? Also does the kit come with brushes for Procreate and Photoshop? I’m thinking about getting Photoshop again. At the moment I have Procreate in my ipad. Also can you use Procreate on a laptop? Thank you for your lovely videos your an excellent tutor. 😊
@Lisaglanz Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes the Character Drawing Toolkit is definitely compatible with Adobe Photoshop. If you are new to drawing I would recommend also having a look at the Easy Peasy Animal Drawing Kit, it might be a better intro for you. You can find it here: www.lisaglanz.com/shop/easy-peasy-animal-drawing-kit-draw-cute-animals/ and here is a tutorial on how to create your first animal character: www.lisaglanz.com/blog/drawing-adorable-animals-is-easy-peasy-with-the-animal-drawing-kit/ I also used the Instant Artist brushes in this tutorial, unfortunately they aren't compatible with Adobe Photoshop. At the moment Procreate is only compatible with Apple iPad. Hope that answers your question. If you have any other questions at all, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Hi Lisa, I am drawing for the very first timen Procreate, using your lovely brushes. When I want to start filling the head in whith white, it just paints over the eyes , nose and linework. (12:42 min). Do I need to do something special to prevent that (I'm on another later, so that isn't the problem ;-)
@Lisaglanz Жыл бұрын
Hi Femke! It sounds like the white layer is above your line work layer. You can change the order of the layer by tapping and holding your finger on the layer, then drag it up or down, in this case you will probably need to drag it under the line work layer so that it sits above your colour fill layers. Hope that helps!

why when i use my clipping mask it changes the ink pen colour, if i leave the clipping mask off the colour is much richer?
@Lisaglanz2 жыл бұрын
Hi Diane, When you clip something to a layer it will only show on the areas that are painted on the original layer - it will also take on the opacity/translucent properties of the layer you're clipping to. And because some brushes are a bit translucent (especially watercolour brushes), ie. it’s not solid, the clip layer is not going to be a solid colour but rather take on the properties of the translucent layer underneath which will give you a "faded" result. This is why the results look different if you painted on a normal non-clipping layer vs a clipped translucent layer. You can duplicate the clipped layer to intensify the results if you like. Hope that helps!

I wish i understood how exactly you did the second sketch layer...i found it very confusing and difficult to replicate.In fact I wasn't able to
@Lisaglanz3 ай бұрын
Hi! I'd love to help if I can, can you elaborate on what you mean by confusing and difficult? Are struggling to follow along? You can always slow the video speed down if you need to. Or are you struggling with getting light sketch lines?
@ioanascozycorner3 ай бұрын
@@Lisaglanz Hello! First of all i want to thank you that you took from your time to answer me. In the 2 nd sketch layer,there are indeed fine lines that you added.They also contribute to a bit more shadow which is cool.It looks very easy to do but , it's really not😂, it's visible you are a pro,and you got "that touch".I tried and it made the whole drawing look bad.What I don't understand and is how to add them,as I can't see your brush strokes ,and there's no explanation on how to add them.I can hear the sound of scribblings and that's about it.I hope it's ok that I make a bit of a suggestion.Maybe you could enable the brush cursor from procreate.Sometimes it's not clear at all where you're drawing or adding details,as it's not visible, and if it's not a lot of work,maybe explain in detail what kind of brush strokes to add,so beginners like me can understand a bit better.

@@ioanascozycorner Thank you for your reply! I completely understand how difficult it could be to not see my hand movements. This was one of my very earlier tutorials where I didn't have all the equipment to record my hand, but thankfully since then I have a better setup 😊 So all my latest tutorials will show my hand. Regarding mastering the sketch lines, this just takes practice. The more you draw the better you'll have control over your pencil and be able to create both subtle and defined line work. Keep going and practice often, it will get easier I promise!
