Comfort! Seriously Lisa I am so glad I found your Channel! After many years of fear and self doubt started tutoring after a parent approached me as I’m a teacher (currently a TA). Your advice is so on point as I’ve literally just been through all of that!! That was me, wanting to have all the knowledge and syllabus mastered before starting! This parent said they wanted maths and science, I said I would do a month trial as I am not great at maths at all!! Anyway my student loved my first session and parent was very happy. This has continued and it was my 6th session yesterday. I offered the trial at £15 per session but realised I was putting A LOT of time and printing resources so I increased this to £20 and also said I will be sticking to maths only. In all honestly if I did someone else I would charge £25 as I still think £20 is undercharging. I still have an incredible amount of self doubt in terms of my knowledge but my student is responding so well and I genuinely love it and building that relationship. I cannot wait to binge on your other videos to help me boost that confidence and hopefully get a few more students.

20:37 While I agree that you can't be precious nor entertain perfectionist ideals, the reason why you still have to do all of that nonsense is because a lot of big fish clients won't work with you until you are more polished. Now, you can overcome that with a bunch of referrals and experience, and the timing may work out if they are desperate, but that's always a problem because some clients with deep pockets won't engage with you because they themselves maintain these antiquated filters.
