Lisbon, Bosco scene ~ "Does he mean that much to you?"

Scene about The Mentalist 2x06 (Black, Gold and Red Blood). Lisbon says Bosco that if he don't let Jane go, she is going to talk about what happens 8 years ago..

It's kind of a 'shipper thing' to say, but I actually believe that was exactly in this scene, after Bosco's question about how much he meant to her, that Lisbon realized that Jane was meaning too much. Also, in this scene, Bosco thought Lisbon was in love with Jane (that is clear by his face). So, when he dies, it would make sense if he had told Jane 'she loves you. Take care of her'. If you guys remember, after Bosco died, Jane started with that thing of 'saving her all the time'.

It's a little bit astounding how badly Lisbon loves Jane while managing to keep it below the surface. The whole time her dignity and integrity remain for the most part intact, and the only person who could really bring it to the surface is Jane, and he was too scared to acknowledge it at that point.

I think Lisbon didn't even know how much Jane meant to her until Bosco reminded her and asked "Does he mean that much to you?" Lisbon is as righteous person as Bosco and she denies or at least tries to deny any feelings toward a co-worker. But what she does and says so far shows Jane means much more to her than a mere co-worker who closes cases.

I think Lisbon really cares for Jane but it´s more than that. She sees that under it all Jane is so hurt and vulnerable, and she tries to protect him.

I personally think that if Lisbon felt she owned her life to Jane (theory 1) she could have just told Bosco so. Instead she was taken aback by his question and rushed to a not completely honest answer- "He closes cases"... This is not an answer related to this situation, we all agree it's not the right one. Why not tell Bosco simply "He saved my life, I own him big time"? In my opinion Bosco could have accepted that, and could have understood her wanting to pay him back. But Lisbon didn't choce this simple answer. I think it's possible she wanted to not analyse what really Jane was becoming for her. I'm not saying she is already in love, but it's possible she is going there, and she didn't want to admit it. The caring is surely there and even attraction since season 1, but the two of them prefer to ignore them and keep being friends/partners... till when this is no more enought for them.

Nope I suppose. Bosco wasnt some one who would bend laws over anything apart from anything real discrete and confidential. Thats what exactly Lisbon did.

You're right. They're definitely in love. Jane said Bosco would do anything for Lisbon because he loves her. Well, Jane said he'd do anything to save Lisbon, and Lisbon is proving she'll do anything to save him. Anyone who doesn't see two lovebirds here don't know what love is.

Yavit Vexe ya but again Lisbon wasn’t trying to fall all over Jane! She loved him but it’s shown as a how you love a friend! It was until Jane completes his revenge plan and runs away that Lisbon realizes how much he means to her!

The writers of this show always tried to made the audience guessing. 8 yrs ago, could meant a lot of things. In the end Jane's guessed what happened. And is the right logical conclusion. The people coming with the conclusion that they had an affair, were wrong. Logic dictate, that if they had an affair wouldn't end their careers. The only explanation was that they were involved in something illegal. But like Jane's said, Bosco is not a type of person to do drugs or steal. He is too moral for that. The only explanation could be that he killed a suspect, a very bad guy, who couldn't bring to justify otherwise. And he told Lisbon, and Lisbon kept quiet. That also would explained why he told Jane when he was dying, about RJ "capture the son of the bitch and killed him "

Because of her feelings for Jane, Lisbon was fiercely protective of him Bosco because of their previous close relationship recognised this and was clearly jealous. However Bosco realised that only Jane, understood just how dangerous RJ really was and that it was only a matter of time before he would go after Lisbon . Bosco knew there was only one way to stop RJ and to protect Lisbon and Jane assured him he would do the necessary act.

Season 1 they were good friends season two jisbon started to happen season 3 try were backing away from each other season four there was a huge progression in their relationship, even more then friends ;)

@@smurfyday Well, the Pilot: not to mention the frog&hidden smile - Lisbon called him a jackass and he chose to pretend it just didn't happen! For any other person he'd find a witty response or a way to punish them in a split second, but here - no. He would never hurt Lisbon willingly. Never. Even when she wasn't in the right. One example: when the two of them made a trap for the killer pretending there was a treasure hidden in an old haunted mansion, Jane (sticking to the plot) insisted on going on with the treasure hunt, Lisbon replied harshly 'Bite me!' He looked so genuinely hurt by those words but didn't even try to hurt her back - he just was so sad that she immediately looked concerned and even a bit guilty, so they made peace without further ado. Love the writing & acting!

@@smurfyday You are absolutely right - they never were just friends, and their love was never platonic. That hilarious dialog about '(not) seducing over a meal', 1*02. Platonic my foot! The fact that they didn't act on their feelings doesn't mean these feelings didn't exist. Both of them had plenty of reasons to hide their love for a very long time.

guys, they (or jane anyways) explained what happened 8 years ago at the end of the episode. bosco killed a suspect that wouldof gotten away otherwise, lisbon found out and kept it secret because the suspect deserved it anyways. You're welcome :)

I don't like bosco....and I wish Jane would actually learn a lesson. He needs to accidentaly kill somebody or something during one of his manipulation tricks...or compromise lisbon badly...then maybe he'll apologize and be more respectful of other human beings. I think she's risking her career because of the fact he's making her career look so good right now. he does close cases really fast. She lacks self-respect if she's faling head over heels for him already because unrespectful to her.
