Our first EV was a 2022 Model 3 RWD with LFP and we drove 50,000 km in the first year. It completely surpassed my expectations and we saved $8,000 in fuel costs (spent $1,300 in electricity). BTW we live in Montreal QC where winter weather was often below -20c and we kept à Thule ski box with Tesla bars on the roof for 3 months. I just ordered a Model Y RWD to replace out other ICE car. We're done with petrol for transportation.

How lucky that you went from the ID.3 to the Tesla M3 and not the other way around. I'm not sure that the conversation in the car would have become as harmonious then? I was a little impressed by how quiet the ride was. You spoke softly and quietly, didn't have to raise your voice to be heard. Congratulations on a good purchase.
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
If I had have gone from a Model 3 to ID.3, my wife would have killed me 🤣🤣🤣The first part of the video, my lapel microphone worked. The second half it stopped working, a GoPro issue. The sound in the first part is good. However, this was the same lapel mic setup I also used in my ID.3. The Model 3 RWD is notably quieter than my ID.3, it is also notably quieter than an older Model 3 SR+. They have added double glazing at the front of the car, and improved sound insulation.

what's the blue disk you got attached to the windshield?
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
I have two disks on the car. One is my insurance, the other is a parking sticker for Lisbon. I can park anywhere in Lisbon for free because I own an EV. The parking sticker costs 12€ per year.

Congratulations on your choice Why 120km/h and chili mode?
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
120km/h is the legal limit in Portugal, so I cannot drive quicker. I also do not want to drive slower. My wife prefers chill mode :-). It is still quick, but smoother in the acceleration. Hopefully, my tires will last longer in chill mode :-)
@eagerv Жыл бұрын
Enjoyed that Marcus. Great car, I am mighty impressed with mine. You have picked the correct car for your driving, difficult to explain to non ev owners, but what you need is to be comfortably able to do most of your journeys most of the time without charging. I am like you, most longer trips for me are a little less than 300 kms return (We live on a small Island, Ireland.) So almost all charging is at 8c night rate or solar. And Tesla Super Charging is so effortless on the odd longer runs and now priced quite well. I find with a mix of motorways and normal roads about 14kWh/100 km is about what I get. So over 400kms which I think is excellent. You can even stretch it a bit further by not using the adaptive cruise (it is a bit more aggressive when it comes up behind a slower car) Enjoy the Algarve..👍
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
Eagerv, you are spot on. Ireland is built for EVs, especially the Tesla Model 3 RWD. Do you find adaptive cruise control less aggressive if you put the car in chill mode?
@eagerv Жыл бұрын
@@marcusevjourney566 Slightly less aggressive, but not as good as a smooth driver who anticipates traffic around. I personally don't use chill, preferring normal mode.

Have loved your vids and was so looking forward to coming to Portugal and experiencing hassle-free ev motoring. The journey through Spain from Bilbao was only possible because of my Electroverse card, most apps were useless as you showed. Now in Portugal, with €70 on my Miio app and still can't charge. It seems to suggest that until you have completed 1 charge, you cant use Miio pay, but doesn't advise how to get the first charge. Currently stuck in Évora looking for a solution. Any ideas? btw Évora is beautiful but didn't intend to settle here😊
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
Peter, have you tried phoning Miio? Perhaps try a different charger if possible. I hope your problem is solved soon.

@@marcusevjourney566 Thanks for messaging me. I've not been able to find a number for them. We are currently in a Nissan Dealership using their charger (very kind of them). We've had online advice but nothing has worked so far. Do you have a number for Miio please?
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
@@peterhutchinson3978 I cannot find their number. There is a number on each charger you can ring, I do not know if that will help. In Spain my bankcard got blocked, because my bank thought the apps were suspicious. You might want to check with your bank or try a different card. Where are you heading next?
@peterhutchinson3978 Жыл бұрын
Hi Marcus It looks like the problem was with Mobi payment systems. We're now fully charged via Wenea and our Electroverse card at a point in Jerez de los Caballeros and heading for Olhão, possibly stopping for a further top up near Ayamonte on the border. Thanks for your help

Bravo, Marcus! The family is most pleased with the change to the Tesla. Always a good thing. I’m curious as to what tires you have installed from the factory? Hopefully they’re not Run Flats as are standard on BMWs. 👋🏻

Hi Marcus, I want to say I told you so... The M3 RWD is such an efficient car and so much better than the ID3

As a German I can charge with my German charging card in many European countries but not in Portugal. I can also use the Tesla app to charge my non-Tesla car in many European countries but not in Portugal. It seems Portugal is a bit isolated. So I'm forced to use the miio app or something comparable which is not perfect.

Glad the first big trip went well and the family liked it (apart from, by the sound of it, the cat 😂). Apologies if you said this and i missed it, but can you charge from domestic electricity at your apartment or will you head off to a Supercharger?

How do you rate the ride comfort in TM3 and ID3? And what about the plastic seats in the Tesla?
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
The ride comfort is better in the Model 3. In the new Model 3s the noise insulation is very good, better than ID.3. I do not like the plastic seats, I prefer fabric. I will wait for the height of the summer to see how hot they get.

great - but also boring, too predictable results at the end. Good for you and your family, but I guess bad for the channel in the longer run. Might have been different if you had choosen a MG4 or so, not such a predictable car everyone knows already quite well.
@marcusevjourney566 Жыл бұрын
I am not sure it was that predictable. I was expecting to arrive with 12 %, that is what ABRP suggested. Over 20% is just astonishing. It is my understanding that an MG4 has worse efficiency compared to my ID.3, but I could be wrong. The Model 3 is more boring than my ID.3, it just means I will have to do longer trips :-). I think the videos will be interesting to people considering a Model 3 RWD or Model 3 LR.
