Doc obviously those pads make for a cleaner better experience. A product designed for people who want to work smarter. Also noted you used that other twisty flex tool thing, which clearly prevented you from getting oil on your hands. Excellent.

Doc, got 1, a year a go. LOVE IT! With a full-size 4×4 diesel truck, 3 gallons of hot oil, comes out with authority. The oil pan of the truck is so high as well, it's a petroleum "Niagra Falls". Bought the same Lisle filter-mesh you showcased, cut it to size, and now more "splash-zone" issues. Should've done it much sooner, but isn't that the true meaning of KZbin friends like yourself, to teach+learn each other? I appreciate you being honest, Doc, with your demo, as well. Not many creator's, are willing to show minor mishaps of their videos, for the sake of their fragile egos. I respect that, 🙋♂️. Have a good safe weekend Brother 👍. -Paul.

Great idea. I imagine the sponge for fish tank filters would work just as good for cheaper. They have some that are bigger and cut to size for canister filters

Now that's Real World DIY right there! I've had plenty of my share of oil messes due to an over-sight of something. As for this video, I was almost yelling at the computer telling you to hurry and put that drain plug back in before it overflowed. You got it just in the nick of time! Good job, Doc! BTW, I have one of those no-splatter pads, it works great just as you showed here.

So this is the reason I don't run this type of drain pan anymore. You really have to remember to close and open the plug. I went to a just a bigger pan or if it coming really high up I have funnel like thing for it that's even wider. I've used this when I was at shop. It's a great more for being able to put everything on top. Maybe getting the pad for it the wider thing would be the idea for me. Good share.

@Xellos142 жыл бұрын
Nifty idea, but would a buffing or stripping pad off of a floor waxer do something similar? They seem to go for about a fifth of the cost if you can cut a round bit to fit the hole in the center of some of them. Nice video, about how it goes with an oil change lol
@Fedwrench2 жыл бұрын
We've used HVAC filters at work that performed as well as the Lisle pad. Not your typical white filter in a carboard frame but, the other type without the frame, usually dark green, that looks like the lisle pad material but, slightly thinner.
