That's not a step brother. They adopted him. He was an adopted brother. He would only be a step brother if he was Charles' son prior to marrying Lori. That's how step family works. Charles AND Lori adopted him from Charles' sister.

Yes, and how unfortunate that it was removed. After how these children were found, Lori deserves no better but death herself. I don't know if the judge was aware previously of the state of the kids, but if he didn't, I hope he'll regret removing the death penalty. Also, Lori does not deserve to appeal her case. This case has already cost millions and continues to rack up the dollars. It needs to end the day this trial is complete. The taxpayers will continue to have to pay for Lori until the day her soul goes to hell.

He and his wife were estranged and she accused him of rape last year. We'll never know what happened because the charges were dropped but it does raise some red flags about what's going on in that household. I can empathise that he is a product of his upbringing so I hope he doesn't pass on his lifelong trauma to his family and gets some help.

He was abusive to Colby and anyone in his vicinity when he lost his temper . Also Lori allowed and encourage for him to be the disciplinarian to Colby . She knew about the abusive life Joe Ryan had as a child and as a young man. She should have never allowed it , let alone encourage it. But he was investigated by numerous court appointed doctors and child advocates and was found not guilty of any kind of sexual abuse against his or her children . Both my parents were completely f*cked up while I was growing up, with cult-like tendencies and behaviors. I was at different times, neglected, abandoned, physically mentally sexually and financially abused by one or the other, or by the people they brought into our lives. In my thirties I experienced deep depression and anxiety and got professional help. My therapist encouraged me to try to talk to them and the result was very similar to Lori’s gaslighting. It’s deeply hurtful and astonishingly frustrating to try to just get your mother or father to speak the truth and have them pretend *you’re* the crazy person. I hope Colby can move on.

@@lorimiller3341 thank you. I cut off all contact with everyone except some step-relatives and one aunt. It’s helped but you never really get over betrayal by a parent. It really screws with your self-worth, confidence, and happiness, but I’m doing a thousand percent better than I was when I was trapped with them. I can’t even imagine how Colby manages but he did say in the Netflix documentary that being a dad is a huge reason to go on. I’m glad he has that.

Tentin Quarantino. I totally get it. I was raised also by narcissistic, abusive and toxic to the max parents. They didn’t murder anyone but what they did was murder of my soul. Long long story but I ended up going No Contact permanently from my entire family of origin. It takes a lifetime to recover from all of this. I just made sure I never repeated this cycle. If u read Alice Miller books she says ppl have children bc of their own narcissistic personality and hold their children in contempt. I see this everywhere. God bless you. My heart breaks for Colby. As far as so many asking why he was given money from Tylee, it’s not that weird or unusual. They were family and family’s help each other when in need. I don’t see Colby using his sister. He loved his sister and she him. The user in this family was Lori alone. To have to wrap your head around suddenly losing your entire family and the mom you loved is responsible and an evil, lying monster has got to be the most horrific thing for someone to go through. Remember Lori forced Colby to go with Tylee to visit Joe Ryan even though Joe had refused to adopt him and by everyone's account Joe had a short temper and no patience with Colby. Joe had no custody or visitation rights with Colby but Lori insisted. THEN, Lori had Colby claim that Joe sexually abused him which Child Protective Services found to be coerced or false memory testimony and Joe was not charged. Tylee never made this claim against Joe and continued her visitation with Joe. So, Lori used Colby, too. EDIT:. Also, Alex did time for assault because he tried to kill Joe Ryan using a taser.
