Listen to this magpie Talk

Hey guys, we were setting up the pop up gazebo on the other channel and little Pie was mumbling and decided to to go over to the aviary and listen to this magpie talk! When he is feeling good, he starts talking and isn't scared of the camera when he gets in that mood. Pie and the rest of the birds you see here are either imprinted or cannot fly from a past injury.

Sweet Pie sounds just like his mom Kullike when he says, "Get ready for bed." Pie is very smart and chatty. I love him so much! ❤️

It's so hard to get magpies to talk. I've had wild ones I feed that recognise me, fly straight over & sit right next to me all day, no fear, but they won't talk. Your guys really love you, that's a fact.

@@chv72Thank you. We see them constantly at the suet station we have for birds (in PNW). I know they're hyper intelligent birds, I know they can use tools, but I didn't know they can mimic speech. Have you seen anything that goes beyond mimicry, where they're actually talking with you?
