My friend Patrick and I were listening to Bleed The Future when it first came out and he had a seizure. We always joked that you guys just played so fast it made him seize lol. He passed away May this year. It feels like forever and yesterday. When I went to see you guys a couple months after he passed in MN when I walked in Wesley Willis was playing on the pa. That was one of Patricks favorites to make me laugh with. I know he was there at the show with us. Thank you for the memories. Both to you Dean and Schmitty❤

I enjoy your videos. I was part of Every Black Minute for a short very short while, I did vocals at a few shows back at the very beginning. RIP Joe Porter he was a good guy! He was a big In Flames fan he got that black Gibson Les Paul just like the guitarist from In Flames. I’m sad I missed the funeral. I’ve always looked back and enjoyed the time I had hanging out with Joe.

@@DeanLamb @DeanLamb your totally right about Joe being driven and dedicated couple good stories: I remember driving to Abbotsford from Chilliwack to practice at Dan Yakimkos during a blizzard he was insistent on going didn't want to miss practice. It was a sketchy drive but we made it. One time coming back from practice he ran out of gas right at Evan's rd on Hwy 1 he didn't have money to fill up but wasn't gonna miss practice I didn't know this until we ran out. Vehicle sat for a while we made a couple calls, but Joe tried the ignition again and it fired up we made it to a gas station and literally rolled into the station. Good on you for making this video.

Great video to honour your friend Dean. Now that I'm in my 30s, and after losing my Dad to cancer, I'm noticing a lot of people in my life getting sick, or passing away. Mostly my Dad's friends and band members, (he was the singer in a Judas Priest/Black Sabbath cover band called Winterkill). They were the biggest cover band in Edmonton, Alberta in the late 80s, early 90s. The Neuraxis mention took me back a bit. I remember seeing the album cover to The Thin Line Between, thought it looked cool and downloaded some of their songs of off Limewire. I thought Neuraxis was such a sick band. First tech-death band I ever heard, before I knew tech-death was even a thing. I bought the album shortly after and was enamored with it. Played it in my Dad's truck a lot, (he loved metal, showed me Opeth when I was 13). Much different from anything I've ever heard at the time, and kinda still is. I love Asylon too, bought the album as soon as it came out, and bought a Thin Line Between zip up hoodie I still have and cherish. I still have The Thin Line Between on display on my album shelf, along with a number of albums that shaped my childhood. I wish they didn't break up, Asylon is an amazing album, and I thought they were just getting better.

Man I loved this so much, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I have a similar story so this resonated hard with me. Hopefully you don't mind if I share: I was in a band in high school with my buddy Petey. He was a great guy, always so nice and funny. Unfortunately, life took us in much different paths over the years and we kinda fell out of touch. But even after all that time without fail he would still come out of the woodwork and show support for everything that I did musically every time I posted new stuff. He passed in 2017, I won't get into details but it was a true tragedy. Especially if you knew him for as long as I did, the guy had been through so much. We made a few demos together around 2007-08 which we posted on myspace. We really loved Born of Osiris at the time and were lucky enough to record with their keyboardist Joe in his basement for our second demo. The only place I still had our demos when he passed away was on my old ipod from high school, which I hadn't used in years. Fortunately I borrowed some cables and a dvd burner from my job at the time and I successfully was able rip our demos off the old ipod to burn some cds for our friends, just like the old days, to give to his family and our friends. Hearing those songs after he passed was really something. I still think about a lot, and see his parents once every few years. Man, what great times, push on and prosper in honor of our fallen brothers. Keep on keeping on Dean. 🤘

Went through my old band "Cauterized" album about a month ago, just to have a listen to some old stuff and a chuckles.. It's pretty much the same reaction you had with your band... Cauterized was late 90s early 2000s so VHS, cassettes and CDs is all I have... Our old producer put them on KZbin some odd years ago... through every song, it just got more and more technical.. yoy can see this progression in 1 album.. I'm a bassist, and been playing death metal/Tech Death since 92 or 93.. It wasn't called "Tech Death" back then.. back in those days it was Death Metal and Grindcore. We just wanted to be more technical than Suffocation and more brutal than GG Allin or Deicide hahaha.. Fun stuff.. I like watching musicians go through the old bands.. it's actually really inspiring.. and funny at times.. My condolences to your band mate.. sucks man.. had a few go off to Valhalla myself..

Damn, those were some pretty cool songs. That's about the level of technical I prefer tbh - just generally it's focusing more on being brutal and evil sounding than technical, and then it had some proggy parts thrown in which is also cool. And the vocalist sounds awesome. I tend to go back to my old compositions (which are all Guitar Pro tabs) and just wonder where all the weird stuff came from . Some of it is really interesting because I guess I didn't know how to do things, so it's just really outside the box.

I remember as a kid, playing a "battle of the bands" in my local town. The quality was abysmal (apart from one guy who was considered a local legend for being able to sweep pick). Bear in mind, I grew up in the boonies of Northern Ireland. Anyway, long story short, we got paid like 40 pounds for the whole band, and there was 3 of us. 15 years old, it felt like a monumental moment. Someone had actually compensated us for our effort, even if it was essentially a token gesture. You brought back that memory. I miss those times, and those guys.
