That's all well and good but where are the Ukrainian troop numbers to take their land back? A good number have fled abroad while the recruitment age at home is still way too high. 27 changed to 25 but 25 will need to become 23 or 21.

They should have thought about that in 2022 when Putin agreed that Ukraine could keep the Donbas. Russia hasn’t spent billions in money and thousands of lives just to give it back. The best Ukraine can hope for now is not to lose Odessa also. Then they will be land locked.

Part of the agreement to get Ukraine to agree to give up their Nuclear Missiles under the 1994 Budapest Agreement was that Nato would help to protect them in the future, now they are being let down once again like the first time putin invaded Ukraine and took over Crimea. It's a good point but the Budapest Accord was not for NATO but just the UK, USA and later France (and Russia - ha) to support Ukraine. Tobias Elwood's idea to put a Division into Ukraine before the conflict started would have stopped Putin in his tracks. You are so right about the failure of the west to do anything substantial after the invasion led to this. We seem not to have learnt the lessons of the 30s.

It won't be a failure. The oil is in Donbas and the natural gas is off the coast of Crimea. He's got those. Mission accomplished. Would he have preferred all of Ukraine? Probably. But this was about the resources. If Ukraine took that energy to market it would have killed the Russian economy.

@@johnjeffrey377 I don't think, if the election is conducted fairly, Trump will get elected, but if he were elected I would hope Europe and Ukraine would work around potential lack of US support and see Ukraine through 2025. For example, the frozen Russian funds, although it would be better if they were used for reconstructing Ukraine, could be used instead to replace US funding. I very much doubt Russia can continue the war beyond 2025, without a frozen conflict enabling it to rebuild its military and economy.

russia is focusing more and more on the kursk oblast region....they have pulled some troops from the donbas to take on the urkaine military in that region...so thats the main reason their offensive has slowed in the donbas...they know ukraine doesn't have the man power to sustain or execute a meaninful counter offensive in the donbas...so some troops left behind are resting and regrouping themselves....this seems to be a very tough war..
