I find her quite ordinary, she just repeats what's been said to her by her father and advisors. She doesn't go out of her way to empathise. Thatcher's legacy = blood on her hands but Carol has zero curiosity about people might think that. It's the Conservative strategy to just simply block out what you don't want to hear.

@@deborahcurtis1385you're correct! Selective memory is their strategy! Ruthless , power hungry family, who'd go over the dead bodies to get ahead in life. This interview did not touch a single important subject! I suppose, she's not allow any questions that matter. No guilt whatsoever!!! Others supposed to feel sorry for their ancestors keeping slaves but it's ok for Carol Thatcher to ignore the carnage her mother had caused!! People with CJD still suffer the consequences of her mother's actions! But this subject is banned from TV! We are learning from the NK how to manage our country by censorship!

I dont know if this was the event you are referring to or a different one but I clearly remember reading about on one of her state visits abroad Mrs Thatcher was horrified to see small children dressed on a freezing day in skimpy costumes about to perform some kind of dance to greet her. Carol and Mark never really had their mothers intelligence and I was so sad to see them auction off all her belongings via Christies. Most shocking of all was the auctioning of their mothers Gold and Amethyst 18 carat ring, hard stone pebble bracelet and her Red Box. If that belonged to my mother I would have kept it in the family and viewed it as priceless. I have all her books singed with her signature. Great interview. Carole is a funny, down to earth and intelligent woman. As someone else said, she would be the perfect dinner guest! She was brilliant on I'm a Celeb too. When she was talking to Ant & Dec after winning they asked her why she coped so well with the trials. Her response was 'well I was brought up to just get on with it, you will not be surprised to hear!'

Hi there! I'm so sorry to leave this here, but I came across this channel on KZbin and would love to get to know you better. I think you must be a very honest person because I always found your comments so respectful and well-said. If that's okay with you, I would love to be friends-but if it seems weird or uncomfortable in any way, please don't feel obligated to respond. Have a great day and keep sharing!

Loved Mrs T. No nonsense. She had a real "get it done" attitude. I read that, She was tough on her ministers, tough on opponents etc, but she was brilliant with the ordinary workers at Number 10.

Oh, my I enjoy this. Carol in an incredibly intelligent and also well-spoken person. Quite apart from politics (which sometimes need not be spoken) it's a fascinating glimpse into how things worked once upon a time. It's amazing that she has a certain objectivity. These are fascinating reflections.
