Casey's an amazing guy, but at the end there when he said "come on" you know he sounded like that because the kid was safe and he didn't have to comfort her in the moment of risk and his internal thoughts were "yes, we got your kid out, but I'm carrying him in a way that makes him more heavy so please move so I can hand him over to medics"😂

Panic is a hell of a drug. Its the same reason why trained swimmers can drown: when you're panicking you dont think straight. Also, a kid in kindergarten wouldn't fully understand that pulling his head back wouldnt be helpful Kids can get into a lot of stuff when you aren't looking, even if you're a very attentive parent. Accidents happen!

you wouldnt have done it any better as a kid. also, she did realise what happened.... the kid would be flat like a pancake if she didnt. kids put their heads in dumb stuff all the time and you cannot pay attention to your kid 24/7. she realised early enough to prefent him from falling down, even risking here own live.

Sometimes I'm shocked by how things work in the so developed countries, waiting for emergency department in such situations that the neighbourhood can solve in the so called third world. Or maybe it's just a movie scene?

Yeah I’m brazilian, would not be out of consideration to have fire fighters help in something like that, but at least to hold on the metals bars would have 5 neighbors there really quickly But for what I heard in some places emergency services are super quick, like 3-5 minutes wait, if it is that fast they probaly got to places faster than neighbors

This is fortunately an excerpt from a series, otherwise it would mean that the firefighters of Chicago are incompetent, I don't know how it is in the United States, but in Switzerland any pump ton (fire truck basic here) has many straps that can be accessed quickly, so 2 firefighters would just need to take 2 or 3 straps, a sledgehammer and a crowbar/hooligan, go upstairs, break in and finally attach the barrier to the rest from the balconies (the 2 cables that support the balconies are clearly fixed points) then from there, it would have been enough to PUT A PROTECTIVE BLANKET OVER THE BOY, to send the mother back into the apartment then to cut out the barrier.
