What an amazing layout it's so good it could be the real thing. I am in awe of the skill and time and effort that has gone into creating such a masterpiece 10/10 from me.

Just love watching this from Australia. A real inspiration for my own much smaller BR(E) layout.

A stunning layout, could watch this all day, the MGN line is excellent too, shows what can be done with lines not considered mainline in model form if you give it a lot thought and time. Really good to see the skillful buildings and landscape too.

This a work of art and should be treated and valued as such - as good as many of the things in Tate Britain.

I remember asking an experienced modeller at an exhibition some years ago why a guards van had to be attached to a fully fitted train. He said just one word: Unions.

Even though I have seen several videos of this excellent layout I hadn't "put it together" that the fiddle yard was opposite the viewing side we usually see. I now realise it has to be there - otherwise it would be in the garden!! Still not really worked out how the fiddle yard for the M & GN line fits in. Couple of trains near the end looked as if they have annihilated Mallard's record.

Fantastic layout. Any more vids which focus on the goods yard operations?
@Whiteknightab5 жыл бұрын
I don't have any more videos of the layout I'm afraid, although several exist on KZbin by others. Tony's passion is running the non-stop expresses so they form a considerable majority of most videos you'll find.

Tony very interested in your hinged hatch. As I reach my 79th birthday ducking under is becoming out of the question. I have never been able to make a successful hinged flap. I was interested how you made yours as I noted the connections with a form of slide, at the lift end, and how can you avoid the damage at the hinged end. Excellent modelling a pleasure to watch always. John P

Hi John, my name is Archie and the channel on which this video was added to KZbin is mine, not Tony Wright's and so he has not seen your comment. Tony is however a good friend of mine and I have e-mailed him today to let him see exactly what you have said. As soon as I have his reply I will post it on here for your information. I am sure Tony will be very helpful.

John, Tony has been very busy but has now replied to my request for information regarding the construction and operation of the lifting board at one end of the fiddle yard. The short answer is that he didn't build it. Someone else made it for him. However, he has sent me some photos which clearly show how it is constructed and how it is made to line up the track across the joins. If you are happy to tell me your e-mail address I will e-mail the photos to you.

Bit of a twist there at the end, with the unpainted flagshipper from "The Old Enemy"; whose Princess Coronation was that?
@Whiteknightab3 жыл бұрын
David, the Princess Coronation had just been built by Tony Wright. Obviously it had yet to be painted. He offered to put it on the layout for me and I was pleased to include it in the video.

Fantastic Work. I worked the next Signal-boxes towards London - Essendine North, Essendine South and Greatford, and was learning Corby Glen when I was promoted away. I am now going to pray that one day - before I die - he, or one of his cohorts, model Essendine. That was a truly remarkable arrangement, with a Branch Line on one side to Bourne (closed 1951) and another to Stamford on the other side (closed 1959) I have always wanted to see that modelled too. But NOTHING I have written detracts from the magnificence of BYTHAM

what system does the locomotive use to uncouple the wagons the minute 10:22?
@Whiteknightab3 жыл бұрын
Juan, the couplings are made under the commercial name Spratt & Winkle. They are sold by Wizard Models. They are worked by permanent magnets buried between the sleepers. If the loco is stopped with the coupling over a magnet the end of the coupling is pulled down by the magnet and so the hook at the other end lifts up, the wagon is uncoupled and the loco can move away.
