Thanks for all the lovely comments on our layout. It’s really nice to see the concept of a train lost in the landscape being appreciated. Other people have observed that they find it.a little boring because it is, essentially, just a long stretch of single track.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy4 ай бұрын
I wouldn't worry about other people, it's a superb layout! Not every model railway has to have a four track mainline and personally I find single track operations a lot more interesting than lots of trains whizzing around in circles 😅 Best of luck with the build of Minffordd, I've been enjoying seeing the updates! Thanks for watching 😃

Bron Hebog might just be one of the most picturesque layouts I’ve ever seen, it almost seems like they’ve literally taken a chunk of the Welsh countryside, and just shrunk it down.

Yes having visited Beddgelertt myself it really does capture the scene incredibly well. Given the size of the overall layout I'd be surprised if there was any compression in the plan at all either! Thanks for watching 🤩

There at 9:38, the Beddgelert station sign - brings to mind in this American's mind at a little bit before sunrise, that somewhere there is an interesting little tank engine named Beddgelert. I model mainly in HO and On30 on very small shelf layouts; have dabbled in Gn15 and our version of OO9, HOn30. Also tinker with Trainz Railroad Simulator, only have the several years old A New Era, edition, and somewhere someone made a Beddgelert to offer. That light hued Garratt with the inside frames is absolutely eye catching on the move as the counterweights and siderods do things.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy8 ай бұрын
So this layout is based on the real life location of Beddgelert station on the Welsh Highland Railway. There was a locomotive by that name originally too but it was scrapped many years ago. I do believe there is a 15" gauge representation of it at the Fairbourne Railway not far away. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

It's based on how the real life station at Beddgelert looked around 2009/2010 when the railway reopened so I imagine they were able to copy exactly what they could see from site visits and photos rather than rely on historical interpretation. Thanks for watching 😃

@ga-la42338 ай бұрын
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Hmm. K1 doesn’t have the scope for liveries or variations though? Ngg’s are a large class with a large pool of liveries at home and in Wales. Oh yeah, continental model prices I’m sure but if the quality is there… …want a wallet shock look up rtr Japanese brass locomotives. With the death of the hobby narrative right now, model pricing talk is going to start a war but I think what people are really feeling is that their wages have stagnated and dropped in real terms so everything feels wildly more expensive than it should, models that used to be, 10% of disposable income are more like 35%, more features costing more etc making it more of a luxury item so even higher % of the disposable income…

Foot and Mouth carried away all the animals ???. Otherwise, lovely layout
@ThatModelRailwayGuy8 ай бұрын
When I visited the real life area a few years ago I can't say I noticed any animals in the surrounding fields. Contrary to popular belief not every field next to a railway is filled to the brim with sheep or cows, in reality the world has a lot more open space which in model form we modellers often tend to fill up by habit. Thanks for watching 😃
@cooperhiremrc4 ай бұрын
Indeed. On all our research visits over many years there were very few farm animals to be seen grazing in the area. In fact, as the frustrated railway staff will attest, the local sheep prefer to hang out on the platform and eat the flowers planted to brighten up the station!
