Whenever I feel depressed, whenever I don't care about the world all I need is a Little Feat record to make me feel on top off the world again. Great great band!

I was watching this show on a Friday nite in 1977. So awesome...I still can't keep still when I hear their music. For those of you who find them dull, I hope you have some taste other than what's in your mouth. If you listen to them and hear the level of skill that every one of the band members displays, you'll at least appreciate them, whether you LIKE them or not. But OMG, DULL, they ain't!

How anyone could give this a thumbs down is a sad shame. Those folks don't understand. Lowell George was a superstar, he just died before we realized it.

Lotta talent on this stage. A young Emmylou lookin good in her prime. She was makin some of the best country albums ever at this time. Bill Payne, the keyboard player, was on a lot of her records.

I remember first hearing this in Blues Seas Studios. A floating studio built on a houseboat, built on an old ocean barge, floating in Baltimore Harbor by my friend Steve...Boone...Thx Steve for affording me the OPPORTUNITY to play with these BEAUTIFUL musicians and carvers of common faith! And thanks ALL who have listened to the music since then!! :-)

I remember thinking, (at the time this tune came out) wishing that the cadence was a little hap-hazard and that the whole thing wasn't tight enough. Now I can simply appreciate the energy of true Americana time.stamped and preserved as part of an age we'll never see again.

What a classic. I always thought these guys were from New Orleans (think 2 were) but mainly Topanga Canyon California. So much funk and soul!!!!

slide guitar, bongos, singing drummer, real emotion, so much beauty -- and to think -- Little Feat wouldn't be able to make it in this day and age. makes you ill.

It's hard to believe that there was a time that you could just turn on your TV and see this kind of talent. Man, are THOSE days gone. God bless Lowell and the Feat!

Anyone born later than 1970 really needs to get the Midnight Special DVD set. You don't know what you missed,, everybody that was anybody did the Midnight Special.

I'm not kidding when I say I watch Redbone's intro at least weekly. Fellow folks born after 1970: do you love music? Do you want to seem cool to any rad boomer you meet? Are you homeschooling a kid and you want to introduce them to decades worth of the most genre-creating, influential music they won't otherwise be exposed to on TikTok or the radio? Get the Midnight Special set.

After Lowell died, I went to a huge benefit concert for his family at the LA Forum. They packed the arena. Bonnie, Linda Ronstadt, Little Feat, Jackson Browne, and more. Bonnie took a couple of Lowell's slide parts, which was very cool.

I saw my first, of many, Feat shows in Virgina Beach, VA in a small local baseball stadium in 75 or 76. bonnie Raitt opened and then jammed with Feat at the end. Amazing!

I've listened to Little Feat for years now but never watched any of the live performances on here. Lowell is a fucking god. I couldn't take my eyes off of this video.

Sometimes in my dreams I see The Bright Lights of Memphis. God Bless Dixieland, and all the chicks & roosters that walk along the rivers there.
@lauryliepolito529 жыл бұрын
"Dixie Chicken" I've seen the bright lights of Memphis And the Commodore Hotel And underneath a street lamp, I met a southern belle Oh she took me to the river, where she cast her spell And in that southern moonlight, she sang this song so well If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland We made all the hotspots, my money flowed like wine Then the low-down southern whiskey, yea, began to fog my mind And I don't remember church bells, or the money i put down On the white picket fence and boardwalk On the house at the end of town Oh but boy do i remember the strain of her refrain And the nights we spent together And the way she called my name If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland Many years since she ran away Yes that guitar player sure could play She always liked to sing along She always handy with a song But then one night at the lobby of the Commodore Hotel I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well And as he handed me a drink he began to hum a song And all the boys there, at the bar, began to sing along If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland, Down in Dixieland

2 yrs and counting. The slide has started towards that great abyss. This IS a high point. And Bonnie would pick up the Strat and the sound would continue. Guess that guitar player sure could play.

I saw these two mega stars in Norfolk, Va. in 1973. I think that was the year, anyway, it was at MET BALL PARK. They set up on home plate and played to us in the stands. The ball fence was a major distraction. The cost was like three bucks. One of my first outdoor concerts. The ball field is now a buisness park. Years later they came up with a new ball park downtown on the harbor, home to the Tidewater Tides. Rockon ya'll...

I remember this show very well. Lowell brought these great artists on stage and then had their mics turned down, so that he was the only singer who could be heard.

I saw Little Feat with Melissa Etheridge, when little feat came out they gave her a standing ovation, she backed them up on a couple songs later on, overall it was a great show - at Tanglewood in Lenox Massachusetts. They rarely let anybody any good play there any more, but that was a good one. Then again - that was a long time ago- over 20 years actually.

In 1977 I saw Linda Ronstadt in Columbus, Ohio. She sang a couple Little Feat songs and was totally plugging them saying they were "the best band in America." Next day I went out and bought two of their albums...been hooked ever since. Thanks for uploading.

I remember my sister letting me stay up late and watch this when I was 6yrs old. I really wanted to see Kiss or Alice Cooper, but I do remember Little Feat and Dixie Chicken on Midnight Special. My sis and I were talking about old stuff recently and she said I used to bug her to play "that Chicken song" all the time when I was in her car, lol. Funny how she got me into great music, and now I get her son into Motorhead and Black Flag!!! Its all a great big circle, with great music to boot!!!!

An interesting situation. I saw Feat live about 10 times while living in the DC area-they got a lot of playtime early on in the area and were very good to that area. AND almost anyone you could mention would probably play back-up to them ain that venue. I saw group after group with number 1 selling songs being the warm-up band-and happy to do so for the exposure. Always gave a great show in my opinion.
