Lake looks light it might have too many small bass. Some culling of small fish may be needed

I saw lots of nice fish but they were suspended and would not bite. A fish fry would help fo sho.

Gabe, you are having too much fun video fishing with your awesome gadgets. It is definitely advantageous and contributes to solving the puzzle and having fun. Just a few more days of 90+ here and then we settle down into the 80s with night temps in the 60s. Hooray! Best wishes, Don

It's fun to watch all those fish swimming around, just doing fish things. Long live the 80's!!!

Caught one of my biggest bass ever on Little Grassy beating the bank in the spring on a spinner bait. Guessing in the 8 pound range. A big fish for Illinois. Was with guide Jay Zapp and he put my photo with fish on the cover of Southern Illinois Outdoors publication. What a time. Your video brought back memories. Little Grassy is a beautiful little lake.

@@TheTinHorseMonty maybe get some of the old guys from that area on your pod cast. Jay is an interesting guy to talk to. He lives and breathes bass fishing. Fred Washburn, Cottonmouth Lures, is another one. I’m sure they have some interesting stories to share.

Unfortunately Jay passed a few years back too. Lot of fishing knowledge between the two. Some of us lucky enough to have been around them, are hoping to carry on half the wealth of knowledge they leant.

Great to see you on grassy. Awesome video! Lot of amazing memories there, LITERALLY grew up on that water. Grassy produced my largest of 8lb 13oz that I've yet to best. Used to be magical, lucky I got to see the very tail end of it. On the "Tornado" topic, have unintentionally fish during one plus drove past a substantial water spout there. Again lots of memories and stories 😅😂

Thanks bud. The lake has plenty of bait and smaller bass. I think it's on an upswing. You are qualified as a trained spotter!!

The biggest fish I and my fishing buddy caught at LG was crankbaiting off grassy points in the fall and Carolina fishing in the summer. We would fish the entire lake. But, those storms can roll right through that lake. Great camping and canoe lake.

It's one of the few lakes that doesn't get much pressure.

Big fish definitely think differently from smaller ones, especially during the Dog Days of Summer, but thank goodness we can still have fun with the smaller ones, as Debo says, "embrace the dink". The best thing about those Summer storms is they usually pass fairly quickly, but you don't want to be caught out on the water when they're coming through, they can be quite nasty, and they don't care, Haha.
@TheTinHorseMonty2 жыл бұрын
Ya I had a fun day fishing a lake that I don't get on very often. I was happy to just catch some fish. Like you said, the storm only lasted about 30 minutes.

Not sure what happened to Little Grassy but it used to have a lot of big fish. There was a yearly early spring tournament that drew a lot of boats even some area pros and it wasn’t uncommon for winner to have a 5 or even 6 pound average. I’d like to blame it on being managed by the federal government lol. I do kayak there when I’m not fishing and I see quite a few 3 or so pound fish cruising shallow but I can’t catch them when I bring my boat out.
@TheTinHorseMonty2 жыл бұрын
It's still a good lake. I know some good fish are caught out of it. I bet the night bite is good.
