Parents really do ruin youth sports. When I was younger I used to work as a referee for a youth soccer league. I'd often see parents acting extremely toxic and even violently. I remember doing a game where the parents got so bad they were cussing and threatening the referees in front of their 10 year old kids. I remember the kids themselves went up to me and apologized for their parents behavior. That's when I thought to myself that the kids were so much more adult than the adults. It ruins their fun too.

I started taking them at 17 to compete in College Football. Here's a dirty truth people don't like to hear. MOST advanced level athletes are on some form of PED. I was just as shocked as most when I found out that the majority of my team was using different PEDs. The irony is that our RB, who everyone thought was just a natural beast. Yeah, his DAD was the one supplying everyone. I won't say real names but his name rhymes why Frozzie Mirgil(a once famous MLB player). Sure, there are literal genetic freaks and physical specimens BUT they are very rare. Just differing degrees... I was pretty naturally strong and fast but I needed it to help me recover faster so I could train more and longer. Most of the time, that's why they're used. Kinda reminds me of Cycling a la Tour De France. On any given year most of the top 8-10 are either doped or enhanced. I honestly don't care one way or another. It's the athletes body. Make a separate league where juicing is allowed and watch that one take over the popularity of the "clean" game. It would just end up like "clean" bodybuilding. Or people taking steroids and lifting weights but don't possess the genetics to be monsters in IBF...

Now we have a Heisman trophy winner as well that led LSU to a victory in the last CFP and set numerous LSU/NCAA records. It’s not much, but it’s honest work. Thoughts on two of the stories in your video: Taiwan being so dominant in the 60's & 70's. I read two different stories about this. One stated that they were actually sending national all-star teams to the Little League World Series instead of all the players being from one town or league. The other story was that they were forging birth certificates and sending 15 & 16 year-olds. The Danny Almonte story, yes he was 14 but you left something out. If I'm not mistaken the Rolando Paulino Little League, which his team represented, only existed on paper. The coach recruited a bunch of ringers and claimed that they were the all-star team from this non-existent league.

@choosetolivefree4 жыл бұрын
@@kevinbushracing58 It's funny because once you realize how much faster paced soccer is compared to most other popular American sports, you can't unsee it. Baseball? A bunch of fat old men mostly standing around waiting for something to happen. Football? In games that last 3 to 4 hours, there's on average only FIFTEEN MINUTES of actual play time, where the players are playing the game instead of standing around. How the fuck to stay awake during a 3 hour period for 15 minutes of actual play? I can't, that's for sure. Soccer on the other hand is near constant play from start to finish. The ball is in play for over 90% of the game. No breaks, no breathers. Not to speak of the level of difficulty soccer has to it. MUCH more difficult controlling a ball with your feet. MUCH more difficult to score points, which is why soccer quite often has low scoring games. Whereas all of the popular American sports (except hockey) have high scores, lots of scoring. To me, watching a team score so often takes the joy out of it. Whereas the relative rareness of a goal in soccer has much more excitement attached. The team had to work a lot harder to get that point than other sports. Anyways. That's a take from an American soccer fan. I actually call soccer "football", mostly because I only watch European soccer (because the American league MLS is shit), but also because it makes much more fucking sense to call soccer football than "grid-iron" (which is actually the name of the sport we call "football", don't believe me go look it up)

I've seen illegal bats, illegal balls (pitching a soft ball so that it can't be hit hard), lineup shenanigans, and a parent on the other team storm our dugout to threaten our coach with violence (after our coach correctly told an opposing player, who was warming up on deck in front of us, that he had an illegal bat). And that's just fall ball of this year, and I don't even look out for this stuff--this is just what was blatantly obvious. The squishy ball trick (which we first noticed when one got fouled into our dugout) was really pretty astounding, since coach and pitcher and catcher all must have known about. Adults can be nuts.

He took what he had of his team, and convinced the organizers to let his 12 yo daughter and 10 yo son play as fill ins. Big mistake for the organizers. This team made it to the championship game where they were way ahead when the opposing coach started having a melt down about 'illegal' players. Long story short, they were forced to withdraw and forfeit the last game. A week later, my friend gets a box in the mail with the medals and trophy for taking first place at the tourney. No explanation. I don't know if this is cheating or not, but I think the tournament sponsor actually did the right thing.

I know of examples in youth hockey of parents getting sham divorces so the dad can then rent an apartment in a different city district and claiming their son lives there so he can be eligible for a specific team. A recent NHL 1st Overall Draft Pick has been accused of doing this when he was playing youth hockey.
@EagleFang482 жыл бұрын
We just had a juniors game where the other team called in a high school player to pitch the final inning who wasn’t on the roster. They claimed he was a fill in because they didn’t have enough pitchers. Adults really do ruin youth sports.

I am from Chicago and the whole city went crazy after Jackie Robinson west went to the championship. We were so mad when they took their wins away especially because those kids were poor.

But they cheated? We need to forgive and forget because they were poor? Not a good example!

I remember when Danny Almonte beat the kids from State College in PA by cheating. State College eventually got the regional title, but didn't get to play in the show. Raw deal!

When I played baseball I didn’t know I was using an illegal bat and I didn’t get caught for it

What bat
@jak._764 жыл бұрын
Same. When I was playing Cal Ripken my bat had a certain sticker meaning I couldn’t use it for my league. I found out the next season by my new Coach. It was given to me like 2 years prior by my Coach. It was a good bat though. Lol.

Interesting caveat that I learned from this video (and I follow Little League fairly closely) was the countersuit of the 2014 Jackie Robinson parents alleging that LLB officials knew about the kids being from out of boundary but did nothing until after the World Series in order to benefit from the "feel good story" of an inner city team bearing the name of Jackie Robinson enjoying so much success.

I batted 27 out of 30 in my final year of little league and I didn't make all stars. No home runs. The kids who did way worse than me made all stars just because of who their parents were. I'm over it now

In my travel league, teams always cheat. They claim that there is a time limit in our games, but in the league rules, it claimed there was unlimited time. One time, after a game, I saw one of the teams coaches paying the umpire to help.them win and agree with them. I showed my coach with a recording, and even with hard evidence, they were never punished.
