@@alex11361. While I don’t approve of the way this umpire reacted, it was the coach that started things by entering the plate umpire’s area. If I were the commissioner, or whoever was running this tournament, I’d want to see AND HEAR the video, the ENTIRE video, to give context to what we see. I’ve seen it three times, and again, as a retired umpire myself, I don’t approve of the umpire’s way of handling this, but he may have been acting in self-defense, as that coach was rushing toward him and did push the umpire. My guess is that there may have been issues earlier in the game, or even in a previous game. Perhaps the coach should have been ejected earlier, I cannot say. But leagues need to police themselves if they want to get umpires, especially GOOD umpires. I belonged to an association, and when there were problems with a league (I never saw anything close to this), we made it clear that if they wanted umpires, they needed to keep things under control. Most players, coaches and parents I interacted with (and I worked every level from Little League to men’s leagues) were not only respectful, but were appreciative to have umpires. I rarely had to eject anyone, and to be honest, if anything was coming from the stands, I really didn’t hear it, because my focus and concentration was on the game. It had to be, or I would have started making mistakes. But an umpire cannot control a game if he or she cannot control their emotions. Ironically, the more experienced coaches, like high school coaches, who really know the game, were the least likely to get into an argument.

As an umpire, coach and player, the ump was wrong for swinging his mask, but kudos to him for standing up for himself. This coach, whose team was getting whooped on, had to take it out on somebody, and the poor umpire was the target. Big baby, should never be allowed to coach EVER AGAIN. Nobody loses with class, nobody loses to a better team. It's always the umpires fault, or some other lame a$$ excuse. That why nobody wants to officiate youth sports anymore, it's a joke. Again, my hats off to the umpire, but he could've handled himself a little better, but NOBODY has the right to put their hands or any other part of their body on an official, period.

Generally speaking, I am on the side of the ump because.... well... people suck..... But, in this case, the ump was looking for a fight. Go to 0:31. Watch the ump intentionally close the distance and get in the coach's space. Then the coach pushes him away (as many people would do if an unfamiliar beer belly got too close). Then the ump instantly starts wielding his mask like an elderly lady swinging her purse. Don't get me wrong. The coach should not allow himself to get into this position. Both should be reprimanded. But the ump was 100% looking for confrontation here. It would be helpful to see the unedited five minutes of video that led up to this.

I played and coached a lot of baseball. To everyone saying that the ump chest bumped the coach first: I disagree. He was doing nothing more than holding his ground against an obviously aggressive coach. Very simply, that area around home plate is for the batter, catcher, and ump. The coach needs to get in the coach's box or the dugout. Problem solved. Obviously there are exceptions, but this wasn't one of them.

I have seen this too many times in kids little league games. The coaches, who are often parents of a kid(s) on the team live vicariously through their kid. They are at times like this clown.....hot headed and take the game too seriously. ITS A LITTLE LEAGUE GAME!!!!!!!! There are always a parent or two on each team that act similarly. It's out of control and these adults should be embarrassed.

The number of people on here ignoring the fact that the ump made first contact with his chest bump and started the physical altercation is just sad. Talk is talk. The moment you physically assault someone, all bets are off.

Ummm are we ignoring that the umpire clearly starts and exacerbates this? Umpire bumped the coach first and starts swinging when coach understandably pushes him off…

Blue got shoved, but then had distance from the coach. You could kill someone swinging your mask like that.

Umpire did nothing wrong, he was assaulted by a younger stronger man and defended himself. I umpired several years ago, when I walked off the field after a game, I always had my mask in with right hand ready to go. I stopped umpiring due to events like this.

@@Steve13lb12oz that's more of a gut bump than a chest bump.

I think the Umpire will have the last laugh. Amateur officials are leaving because of actions like those of the coach, and there's no one left to replace them.

Do people even realize how difficult it is to find officials for kids sports BECAUSE of stupid behaviour like this?

It’s hard to believe that people would actually want to umpire these games. The parents and the kids are out of control. This is quite literally the end of Little League baseball.🤣😁

I suggest that Umpires quit. Stop umpiring games. Walk off refuse to be part of this madness. The only logical move.

This wasn’t a dad that came out of the stands, this was the coach of one of the teams. Shame on him for putting hands on the umpire, and shame on the umpire for swinging his mask back.

The umpire purposely chest bumped the coach, and while it wasn't the best reaction, a "get the heck away from me" push can be understood in the heat of the moment.. Bottom line is ump turned it physical
