I talk with a couple native American woman about their knowledge and experiences with little people.
Gnomes, fairy, little people, are they all the same thing?

I am so happy to find this information. I live in California, have Osage heritage, and a month ago (Nov 2020), I was leaving work late in the dark and at the end of the parking lot structure, I saw a small group of small people at first talking and laughing back and forth, then they broke into a dance, lined up dancing in unison, that involved throwing their hands up in the air, like fighting something off. I couldn't decide if they were children or really short people at first. At the sound of my car door closing (about 100 feet away), they vanished, except one that looked like a girl with a beanie cap, coat and heavy shoes. She stepped out from behind a corner made by a four foot wall and walked over to the parking lot light, which allowed me to see her, and go back later to measure how high she was by where the top of her head came to the base of the lamp, it turns out she was about 4 feet tall. There was a small wall there, about 4 feet tall, and an arm reached out from behind it with an open hand reaching out to her (its owner apparently did not want to expose themself), so eventually she also walked towards it back behind the wall. I don't know if they were all there hiding behind the wall, or disappeared. I was too scared to go over and look. If they were spooked, there was a staircase they could have run away down, but they didn't. It didn't make sense that they were children, they would have had to be about 7-8 years old, without adults, and the hiding behavior, dancing, etc. did not look normal. Also, they looked to be filled out, with thick hair, more like adults than children. This video was the only one that made sense out of what I saw, and it makes sense that the dance was ceremonial or spiritual. It gave me some context and closure to this experience, thanks!

Gosh we never know what we are going to see. Met a guy couple yrs ago who swears to seeing sprites on a lake out here when he was a kid. Funny thing that he crossed paths with a guy he grew up with on that lake and he was the one that brought it up. He had seen them too.

I really liked hearing this from these ladies. My own Scottish and Viking heritage is replete with discussions of these small people and it is so interesting to see American Indian tribes across the U.S. discuss the very same things. I have some Ottawa, Chippewa and Sioux heritage as well and would bet that those people saw some of these things. I was surprised at the concern that the elders had for that one young man who is now 60 as per these two ladies and then realized they wanted to be sure that this young man was going to be Ok. I've done decades of work in chasing the unknown in the form of paranormal research as well as UFO cases and have recently gravitated towards learning about the other "human-like" species that we share the planet with and I think we live in a golden age where all of these topics are more mainstream and people are not ridiculed for sharing their encounters. I do not know much about the Osage people, but I hope they do take up their dances again with these small people. Great episode!

I am glad to read about someone else seeing little people. One day a reporter asked me for a story I had never told. He was really pushy. So I told him I saw a little person. My brother and I had rowed to a very isolated area, and I found a little narrow path going up the embankment and into the woods. How strange that anyone should make a path there, and so narrow. I walked a few hundred feet into the woods, and saw this little guy to my left, a foot and a half tall. He wore a toke on his head, and his face seemed to say, ' now what do you think you're doing here?" So I respectfully said, "Oh excuse me, I didn't know I was trespassing," and I turned around and walked out.. The reporter would not print my story. He thought I was kidding him. He said it was too outlandish to believe. I guess the reporter was afraid of what people would think of him! Strange, the little guy seemed perfectly acceptable to me - instead of freaking me out .

@@cherylwalter387The surprising thing was that there was nothing scary or even unusual about it ! He looked a bit cross ( because I could see him?) form his knitted brows. He was pretty stout. I suppose if I saw him I'm my house I would freak out and perhaps that is how he felt about me in his woods. I know the stories about lost time, so I wasted no time in turning around and leaving. It seemed like he belonged there because the place was so isolated and strange. He looked like a wee pudgy man, black hair and beard no mustache and he had a wide space between his nose and his upper lip. He wore a big frown but I think that was a just his face.

@@twofeathers5145 This path was more of a deer path. I was looking down until I came across the little man on my left. He was much less scary then than thinking about it now. No weapons I saw, brown trousers and a cap. He had a beard. His nose was closer to his eyes than to his lips. Strong puppet lines came down from either sides of his nose. He was not really frowning, but had this severe cast of face. His eyebrows were high on the outside and swept down to a furrowed brow. He looked like a Westerner. I did not notice shoes, but he was completely dressed. I looked straight at him and apologized for trespassing. I turned to leave casually then got to my brother down the shore, but he did not get back in time. Let me know if you see one, but I would not spend too much time with him. If someone told me about this I would think it is the most bizarre thing ever.

I have seen 2 of the 3 types of the Cherokee little people. I had never heard of them before seeing them. When telling someone about the encounters, they new the mythology of the Cherokee little people, I described them to a T. Growing up I was told that I had Cherokee ancestors. So, I figured it might be like a DNA imprint or something, but after doing a DNA test; it turns out that I have no native American ancestry. So, yes I do believe that somethings that go bump in the night are real. Not just your imagination.

The Canotila are forest spirits of Sioux folklore, usually appearing as sprites or dwarves. "Canoti" literally means "tree dweller," and "canotila" means "little tree dweller." They were considered messengers from the spirit world and often appeared to Sioux people in dreams.

This is so strange hearing this... in Hawaii we call them MENEHUNE. Very mischievous and something we never joke about. In our culture we treat them with the highest respect. If you hear or see one you're supposed to bow down and let them pass and not look at them. You should try get in touch with an elder Hawaiian (kapuna) who have had encounters with them. It wouldn't be hard to do at all.

I find it iteresting how you come to the conclusion that meetings result in stress or mental problems. This is dependant on the individuals involved and is exactly the same as people react to accidents or crises, some deal with it and some don't, think of soldiers returning from war the different approaches that they have. I, personally had a very favourable meeting with, what you are calling Little People, in Glastonbury England.She was short for a human but not as short as these womena are saying but the most noticeable thing was the eyes, it was like looking into dark pools of still water - calm and relaxing almost hypnotic. she told me how to make a certain ritual at a certain place that I had on my agenda to visit that weekend but I hadn't told her of it she just knew. I have had several encounters with them in many places in England and have never had any problem with them or from them. Respect them and they will respect you and despite the stories that you may of heard they actually do like interacting with humans but see us as frail against themselves.

Chief Plenty Coups in his autobio described them as not taller than his knees. He was 9. He had gone into the mountains hoping to connect with the Ancient ones as he described them as the result of his beloved older brother's death by Sioux. They were small and wiry, long haired, raisoned and wrinkled. Highly recommend reading.

The ones I've experienced make calls sometimes like that of a barred owl, they may even share a symbiotic connection with owls as I've heard them respond to owls who are calling and even to me when I used to be able to emulate the call of a barred owl now the owls can tell I'm a fraud though lol I can't remember quite how to correctly vocalize the call. Here in St. Johns NL Canada, on Signal Hill with a friend, I witnessed a 3-4 ' tall grey skinned crawler type creature straight out of a science fiction movie. very unbelievably fast we almost ran it over as I slammed on the brakes it literally crossed the street weirdly enough at the cross-walk, we got within about 5' of it and we saw it in amazing detail. It was NOOO HUMAN hah it was freaky man. Completely changed how I see the world I have always been believer but when you see something like that it just can't be explained. It came with a weird fog, I even said gee this fog is strange. Then 5 seconds later we almost ran the thing over, not sure if it was more animalistic or human but it was humanoid, grey skinned with a bit of a bulbous oblong head with black hair like string/tube things protruding out of the back of its head. It somehow had time to stop and look at us when it got across the road, I cannot for the like of me remember it's face but I do remember everything else about it. my friends says he remembers it face but I think it made me forget its face somehoiw..it was weird I did look at it but I was so busy taking in the details about its body and legs and back and lack of ass crack haha so weird. Nothing has been seen like this in the area by absolutely anyone that I have heard of. No-one has ever seen this thing but us from what I can gather. I think someone out there has also seen it but if they have...They would certainly be afraid to speak about it. It is just unbelievable. To add to this I always drive this route and never ever saw anything strange other than a dark fox crossing the road in front of me as I was alone at the cross walk and I had the thought that this was the same creature, just being a little more cautions this time being in the form of this fox. It looked at me and I was spooked and immediately thought of what we saw that night.

Im an alaskan native and my grandfather used to tell me about them "yuusqughaq" little men i thought it was a lie to get me to go home early till this one day my friends and i were shooting our air guns and out of nowhere under the neighbors house there was eyes that glowed blue my friend said hey whats that?! We all look and it blinks we kept trying to make out what it was is it a fox? No is it a rat? We dont have rats is it a mouse? Too big my friend shoots at it and all it does is blink he shoots again same thing after the 3rd shot his grandfather comes out and says in our language HEY APPOLOGIZE RIGHT NOW! We asked why? He said thats a little man i bet it knows you dont know what it is or you would be hurt or gone we appologized right away to it it blinks turns around and runs super fast i was scared ill admit it cause of all the storys my elders used to tell me theyre stonger than they look they said even the strongest man cant and wont mess with them some are mischivous some are nice but never take anything from them unless you trade something of yours even if your life depends on it dont take food or water from them i have a few more storys about them but this is long lol sorry

Any way some of my classmates seen her just holding still outside white as a ghost not talking sorta shaking after about 10 minutes she snapped out of it she said she saw something at the corner of her eye move she turned to it and saw a little person looking at her swaying left and right she went into shock and froze up looking at it. As soon as the door opened it ran away under the school she said it was wearing some sealskin clothing and had long hair was about 2 ft tall eyes looked red

Recently a man i know said he was walking home it was night time and he noticed foot steps behind him he turned and looked didnt see anything he keeps walking a little creeped out and thinks maybe hes just hearing stuff he stops to light a cigarette and hears this cough turns around and this 2-3ft little person was right there he screamed and jumped lol the funny thing is he said it screamed and jumped too he started running as fast as he could and can hear it keeping pace behind him he didnt want to run all the way home so he went into a relatives house they said he was out of breath and pale as a ghost they calmed him down and he told them what happened.

Extremely interesting, as usual! I must admit I've never heard of the little people before I came across your channel within the last year or so... I have heard people referring to them as extraterrestrials, but I'm not sure if we're talking about a different race of beings - certainly these by nature of living (& I assume breeding) on Earth, couldn't be be classed as 'Extra-Terrestrial'. I'd be interested to know when they were dancing; I assume they were playing music and would have had their own instruments?
