Here's the official quote from Yoh Yohsinari: "Akko’s like someone who joined the industry out of passion but without actual technique, so she can’t draw clean lines for in-betweens. Yet she has that egocentric confidence about being able to draw good key frames despite that." When I watched this show, I was so inspired because she's like me. At school I wanted to be a artist but most of the people at my school never really accept that. Except for this person, my teacher. He was nice, sweet, funny, and caring. He supports everything I do and need, but when I heard I'll be moving into another school I wished I get to meet the same kind of personality like my teacher.

Luna Nova actually could be a college. LWA is set in England, where 'college' refers to an optional period of schooling from the ages 16-18. Akko is 16, and since her birthday is in June, at the end of the academic year, she's old enough to have finished high school and moved on to college.

I have to put in my two cents. I don't watch anime, not frequently. I saw the game release, or something, on Facebook's Playstation ad. Questioning what it was, I decided to investigate. It's now one of my favorite shows of all time. It's nothing but wholesome, feel good fun. You aren't getting your typical anime bullshit here. It's got a great message, it's not focusing on weaboo romance, and the ending was just poetic. Watch this.

I think something that wasn't mentioned (to avoid spoilers) but it had some deep meaning in this art context. The very think that inspired Akko so much, was actually the thing holding her back. Chariot draining Akko's magical power is part of the big metaphor.

Fun fact, on the mobile game Super Robot Wars X-Ω (Cross Omega) there was a Little Witch Academia event to promote the oncoming game, when the Grand Charion was an available unit. Meaning that Akko & co. can fight alongside Gunbuster, Diebuster, Gurren Lagann, the EVAs, just to mention a few.

This really struck a cord with me. I started watching Little Witch Academia right when I was preparing for entry exams for animation college. It not only inspired me from the similarities you mention, but also from the technical part as well. The animation in LWA is pure fun and I wanted to contribute to the library of fun works like this one. also as it turns out, the last episode of the anime aired just as I was rejected from the college. So at least I had the finale to cheer me up :)

Always related so much to Akko. I've made two years of cinema studies and I've always been the Akko of the group (not in terms of talent, but in terms of interest). It is so hard to be that little dreamer who likes fantasy, sci-fi, animated series and things like that while being surrounded by people who are interested in "deep author movies" and look down to lighter, fantasy stuff. Being around other artists, who have heavy social messages, when your art is about re-sparking that little flame in the eyes of people who stopped dreaming by using fictonial worlds is not a easy thing. And that's what I see in Little Witch Academia. A young art student who wants to create stuff not to change the world, but because she simply want people to have fun and be happy. One of the most fantastic thing about the show is how it has multiple layers. Akko is that little girl who tries so hard to make people laugh and dream in the show. But she's done it with us since the very beginning. When Akko is talking about showing to people how fantastic magic is, she's not only talking about the other characters. She's talking about us, the people watching her through our screen. The authors are Akko, searching to enlight us with the beauty of their magic and that makes that series so much deeper. Wish there was more.

I find it kinda ironic how LWA is a Metaphor for art achool struggles becauses it's being animated by one of the studios thats renounced for being the best animation studios out there. It feel like a show case for all the animators. "You didn't believe we could get here and look at us now." They made a show that vents out their frustrations while also working for the power house and I find that absolutely amazing

Great great show! Watched everything LWA and I just want more! At least the game’s coming (Chamber of Time) which should give me my LWA fix. I don’t agree with everything you said in the video but great vid nonetheless. I wish they would find a way to continue Akko story (as you said, yes, Akko is a super interesting and relatable character) but after she *SPOILERS* returned Shiny Rod to the heavens I guess that was the sign that her story has come to an end. But the creator does want to continue LWA which is good enough for me. Chariot is also just as interesting as Akko and I would love to see how her story went. He also mentioned that he wanted to tell more of Diana’s and Amanda’s story which is great too because they’re really cool characters too. Lastly, I’d like to finish off with this: LWA is a really great show with superb female characters that does not shove into the viewers’ faces that they are female like what so many shows are doing nowadays. It has a really good script and each character had... you know... character. They had development, bond, traits that were interesting, etc. It didn’t matter what they had between their legs and it should be that way. Why can’t Hollywood get this? Beats me. Can’t wait for whatever LWA comes up with next! Hopefully it’ll live up to the high expectations they’ve set for themselves. And from what I’ve seen so far, I have a good feeling about it.

just a quick spoiler alert and all of this is also metaphorically,its true that this anime is really about art school,Im gonna write a whole esssay of this: So basically this anime is trying to tell you that you should never give up and in every each(or some episodes)teaches you about an advice like your in a theraphy session(not technically) theres an episode about why you should never try to be somebody else and theres also an episode where you should never look up to your idols but rather respect or support them.theres an episode about chariot or prof.ursula that she would tell everything to akko(also tell her shes chariot)but prof.ursula failed to tell her in time because prof. croix already told akko the truth and how all of this is about art school is about working hard like how akko learned how to cast spells and turn herself into any animal,Theres also this scene where she tries so hard to combined and perfect the statue(but ofc failed)but she didnt actually did bad on completing the statue.quote: two heads is better than 1,If you guys dont know what I mean then basically working together is better than working alone.THERES this episode also where akko tries to help Constanze but she refuses to help.akko tries so hard to convince her to help her and she finally did! And they manage to do what theyve work on.theres this really really good episode about magic will be forgotten and it reminded me so much about art I know art will still be a thing but what Im getting here is about the most expensive arts around the world that literally is a dot.If you dont know what I mean then Its basically those art were colors are just splatt into the illustration that probably tooked 10 min to make.Unlike people who actually has talent,Like making paint out of your hand and making a masterpeice or like bob ross who didnt get much paid or credit,THOSE are the people that actually works hard on their art. Like little witch academia magic will be forgotten and we all know it wont.And meaning to this "Art is t forgotten" thats the end of my essay and I havent actually watch the end of season 1 (or 2) Im only at ep 24 and 25 which im watching tonight lol, I do hope that one day art would find its true art again.
@flameshana9
@flameshana9 7 жыл бұрын
Eh, I'm not sure I can agree with the the idea that magic = art in this show. Hard work and dedication winning the day isn't an uncommon theme in anime. Akko doesn't really want to tell a story and that's the whole purpose of art. Art is _visual_ communication. What would Akko's message be? Believe in yourself? Seek your dreams? Those are all common messages unrelated to producing works of art. Artists in my opinion have something they want to say, be it with words, sounds or pictures. Akko wants to be good at magic and share it with the world but not much else. Like how she wants to prove it's still useful. I would say liking art doesn't make you an artist, but producing it does. And magic can't be produced, only used. So it's more like a tool.
@Lavapasta
@Lavapasta 7 жыл бұрын
Alright, fair point, but what Akko does want is to replicate Chariot's performative style of magic, and in both The Enchanted Parade sequel film and the Samheim episode(s) of the TV series, Akko is using magic to create a visual performance for an audience. In The Enchanted Parade, she was also trying to visually communicate that witches are amazing and don't deserve to be shunned by society, while for the Samheim festival, she was putting on a comedy routine for an ancient spirit with the goal of making it laugh. Are parades considered art? Is a comedy routine art? What about simple drawings or abstract paintings on a canvas, are those worthy of being called art, even though there isn't a clear story being told? I think they are, because my definition of "art" isn't so much about having a story or a message, but about what it means to the audience and the artist themselves. Sometimes a random drawing doesn't always have a story behind it (yet), but it's still art; it still has meaning to the person who made it. What Little Witch Academia means to me is that it reminds me of myself as an artist; like Akko, I want to break into the industry and be like all the Shiny Chariots in my life by making spectacular animation, but I still need to work hard to polish my artistic skills to get to where I want to be. Maybe those themes and messages are as common as you say, but from my perspective as an artist, I can't help but notice how Little Witch Academia relates to the artistic world of animation.

Diana is like the traditional fine arts student who is talented in things like painting, clay sculpting, and figure drawing in addition to animation, or is at least the traditional veteran animator who has the skill (and resources) to animate on old light tables with sheets of x-9 paper and plastic animation cels. She's like someone who's gone to private art schools all her life and thus hasn't met a person who doesn't come from that background until private high school/college, which is how I view her interactions with Akko at Luna Nova Academy.
