Primal is a masterpiece. He really took the concept of no dialogue and heavy emphasis on visual storytelling. It's for the children who grew up with his cartoons and are now adults.

I loved the first Hotel Transylvania and never knew Tartakovsky worked on it. He really made it something special and the way he added 2D characteristics to the 3D animation really made it look good! When I think of that film, my mind instantly thinks of all the exaggerated still poses and facial expressions. And that man deserves an award for removing motion blur in a 3D animated movie, more 3D films and shows should follow suit. The action and movements all look so much clearer without an annoying motional blur smudging everything. I remember watching the final season of the 3D Clone Wars and was annoyed by how the show had added motion blur. It really made some of the season's actions scenes less clear than in older seasons. What should have been newer, better animation was marred by the addition of motion blur.

Genndy was probably the first modern animation director that I discovered, it helps that during commercial breaks Cartoon Network used to interview their shows creators, others featured were Danny Antonucci from Ed, Edd & Eddy. I grew up watching Dexter's Lab on Cartoon Network Latin America in the late 90s and when before Samurai Jack's premiere they showed those interviews. Despite being totally different in tone I could immediately recognize the similarities between his shows. Clone Wars was actually my first contact with Star Wars

14:27 Yeah, I didn't have a problem with Jack & Ashi's relationship. And I honestly think people who are trying to make an issue out of their relationship because Jack is apparently immortal while Ashi is younger are frankly just looking for something to complain about. In fact, I think people overlook the symbolic nature of their relationship, Jack & Ashi represent yin & yang. If Jack vs Aku was about light vs the darkness then Jack & Ashi's relationship is about the harmony between light and darkness which is ultimately leads Jack defeating Aku once and for all. The only fundamental problem that I had with the series finale is that it felt too rushed and you can tell that Genndy wanted to do much more to bring Samurai Jack to an epic conclusion.

I was always disappointed that symbiotic titan got cancelled. I loved it as a kid and thought it had a lot of potential with cool plot ideas. All of these cartoons were my favorites growing up and I'd like to start watching Primal soon 👏

Samurai Jack and Clone Wars. Bro, the cinematic references and pure utter utilization of the characters to their max potential in Clone Wars is mind blowing. I love Samurai Jack, it blew my mind when it first came out. But the Clone Wars was so refined and perfected, there is almost no flaws besides it’s short length.

"The Cinematography of Genndy Tartakovsky" you talked nothing about cinematography, all that you talked about was some artistic opinions about the shows from a none artist's point of view

I love how Clone Wars, with 2-5 minute episodes, routinely had more dialogue than Samurai Jack, with 25 minute long episodes. There is something magical about Jack's use of silence. It so often puts me in mind of the traditional Hollywood epic and its capacity for breathing on a moment.

Idk If I agree with the hole Jack relationship being "yikes". But it was an easy out for the show. Endings are hard to nail almost every show misses. Im not sure what a perfect ending would look like with this show. since its more of an episodic adventure and we dont have a ton of his family backstory or even his early life. That being said its a master piece and so is primal. Primal has nailed everything so far for me 10/10 every episode but one.

Man, a dream team up for me would be Genndy Tartakovsky and Zack Snyder. Both their styles of direction and storytelling are so similar, yet I feel like they’d work off each other rather than just do the same thing.

Rewatching Dexters Lab rekindled my love of animation. It’s not just the jokes but the infinite possibilities. I remember how dope the old Justice League cartoons were and really wish Warner had gone animated for their cinematic universe

I'm a casual fan of the guy. I have seen most of his works, I had no idea he had anything to do with Hotel Transylvania. That is so cool. My kid loves those movies. I enjoyed his works as a kid and now my kids are as well (my son has also watched, and loves dexter's lab) Can't wait to show him samurai jack.
