One day, I was walking to the liquor store to buy cigarettes, my wife just told me that she was pregnant and I didn't know how to be a Dad, I lost mine due lung cancer when I was 8, yes he smoked, that day I didn't choose to quit, I choose to challenge myself to see how long I can make a pack of cigarettes last... That day I had only one cigarette, that was the last cigarette I ever had, my son just celebrated his 11 year... And he still has a dad... 😊

Self discipline is key,you don't stop bad habits because of someone else,you stop them for you,I used to drink myself off and get home very late drunk and wasted,one day I said to myself,'enough',I've never touched the bottle since then and I have accomplished so much,we are stronger than we know,just find yourself

I lack a lot of things i see in these self help videos. But i have persistence and have been so lucky that I have been waking up to try again. It's so amazing that within 24 hours we get to try again and try something different or do the same thing better. I haven't counted all the years and days where i have failed, those were time learning. Sure, maybe i need more classes than others. But I will keep repeating the process and find something that clicks. i know that is the formula to succees. Nothing else matters. When that day arrives i will go back to the video that resonated with me and leave a comment

Eating until we're full is what we usually do, but eating until we are satiated (no longer hungry) is better. Eating beyond fullness is gluttony.
@jambo_jackbelly
@jambo_jackbelly 10 ай бұрын
In my experience, the feeling of being full isn't necessarily the best indicator of when to stop eating. A measured approach based on the size of the meal and its nutrition content is usually the best approach. Eat a balanced meal that is healthy and the correct amount of calories and you may still feel very hungry and unfulfilled, but if you stop and resist the urge for more food. In 10-15 minutes you will stop feeling hungry and feel full.

The right thing is to eat till you feel about 80 % full. We can’t measure how full we are but the thing is to eat and stop at the point when you feel you are about to get full or satisfied.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🧠 Building Self-Discipline: Introduction to Stoic Lessons* - Self-discipline is crucial for success and emotional control. - The video presents seven stoic lessons for building strong self-discipline. 00:15 *💪 Lesson 1: The Battle Against Pleasure* - Self-discipline involves avoiding excess to prevent unnecessary suffering and negative consequences. - Abstinence and restraint are not the same; restraint focuses on moderation and balanced approaches. - Self-discipline prioritizes the mind over the body, aiming to avoid temporary distractions and pleasures. 02:27 *🥊 Lesson 2: Seek Discomfort* - Voluntarily subjecting oneself to discomfort builds resilience and perspective. - Challenging oneself through discomfort prepares individuals to handle tough times and adapt to change. - Seeking discomfort toughens individuals and makes them less fearful of challenges. 05:32 *💡 Lesson 3: Quit Being a Slave* - Breaking free from habits and addictions empowers individuals to take control of their lives. - Choosing to quit harmful habits is a personal decision that reflects self-value and prioritizes health. - It's never too late to beat bad habits and reclaim control over one's life. 08:40 *💰 Lesson 4: Avoid the Extra* - Embracing minimalism and simplicity reduces vulnerability and dependence on material possessions. - Living a simple life with fewer desires leads to greater freedom, self-control, and resilience. - Minimalism protects individuals from becoming slaves to their desires and external pressures. 11:39 *🐢 Lesson 5: Slow Down to Go Faster* - Progress doesn't always require rushing; disciplined pacing ensures steady and consistent advancement. - Moving slowly but efficiently allows for proper attention to detail and prevents burnout. - Hustling involves getting things done properly and effectively, even if it means taking a slower approach. 13:14 *⚖️ Lesson 6: The Difficult Life is the Best Life* - Embracing challenges and hardships leads to personal growth, resilience, and achievement. - Prioritizing physical activity and health empowers individuals to overcome obstacles and achieve greatness. - The tough life, though demanding, offers greater rewards and fulfillment compared to a life of indulgence and laziness. 16:52 *🤫 Lesson 7: Silence is Strength* - Mastering self-discipline includes knowing when to speak and when to remain silent. - Utilizing silence strategically empowers individuals to maintain control, avoid unnecessary conflicts, and make a significant impact with fewer words. - Resisting the urge to constantly engage in discussions or share opinions allows for greater focus, clarity, and influence. I walk down the hill to the bus 1 1/4 miles one way, And back up with groceries in my granny cart. I walk a lot even after that. Between the bus stop and where I am going. I am much stronger here than when I move in. Just like Paul who went to prison. The Roman Emperor imprisoned him for spreading the Gospel. He didn’t stop preaching Jesus even though he was in prison. He wasn’t materialistic. He did what he thought God wanted him to do. Then did what God did want him to do. He lost his life. He went to his reward

Every time I put the alarm early and when I don't feel like it I change it, now that's a problem that Im struggling to solve. Any advice?
@hoosierbaddy3052
@hoosierbaddy3052 6 ай бұрын
Stop living IN the problem. Become part of the solution. Einstein said that no problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it. Henry Ford said that people spend more time and energy going around a problem than in actually solving it. There ya go. Two astute individuals are telling us to get outta the problem area of the brain. Soak yourself in the solution. Personal example of solutions in action. I needed a ride to the hospital for a procedure. My mom and her friend slept thru my 5:30 a.m. check in. I could have stayed home and bemoaned the fact that no one cared enough to get up for me. Or… Instead of perpetuating the problem, I drove myself there and let them hammer out the details of picking me up. We have two cars. So, now it became THEIR problem. I felt SO good giving myself a lift to the hospital. That’s an example of switching problems to remedies. It is sometimes a bit of a leap to change gears. But it’s the only solution for problems. Get rid of your alarm clock if it bugs you. Quit changing up the times to try and fix it. It ain’t working huh? It’s Einstein’s definition of insanity to keep trying things that don’t work the first time.

I’m in a world of pain…I feel like I’m the only one in my family of four that is capable of self discipline. The wife and 11 year old boy and 7 yr old girl could care less about being healthy, exercising, absorbing knowledge, changing bad habits… The only time anything good happens is when I push for change. But even then they take one step forward and three steps back. Constantly leaves me frustrated and losing battles because my wife could care less about changing anything….. I give up 😢

But this video is suggesting that you don’t give up…I have gotten much inspiration from listening to Abraham Hicks videos on KZbin. When a feeling of “giving up” begins to creep up, I watch another Abraham Hicks (tru Ester/Jerry Hicks) presentation.

@@cynthiadebeau4230 I like your spirit! I do the same when feeling uninspired… i can’t do absolutely nothing for more than a day without getting frustrated at myself for wasting time when I know there is much I could be doing. I reach out for inspiration often only to realize it’s just me that recognizes the onset of apathy. I get that the kids would rather play games than do any kind of chore or physical labor but I know it’s not good for them. Nice sunny days should be spent outside not indoors playing countless games of go fish or skipbo with windows closed. I suggest some more productive activities but they look at me like I’m a big jerk because mom doesn’t ever seem to care why should they care? Why doesn’t dad like it if they are having fun? Mom never says we should wash dishes or put our clothes away so why should we? I really wish she knew that teaching our children how to survive and make better choices is necessary for them to develop strong minds and bodies.

7 Stoic Lessons to build discipline for hard days; 90% of success is discipline. 1. Battle against pleasure. We must monitor our wants. We know if we want to be strong we must workout. If we what to be healthy we must eat healthy and in moderation. If we want to be wise we must study. If we fight negative impulses we become stronger, wiser, healthier, in short and better person. 2. Seek discomfort. We should look for challenges in our life. These challenges are make us strong and resilient. It also helps us the appreciate what we have. 3. Quit being a slave. This applies to will power. Whatever it is in our life that is negative to our wellbeing, we must quit. Smoking, overeating, or simply living a sedentary lifestyle are examples of what we must conquer to keep improving as a human being. Remember we are not working to perfection, just a better version of ourselves than yesterday. 4. Avoid the extra. This apply to the fourth stoic principle of temperance. We must live a moderate lifestyle. We must fight the temptation to desire more than what we need. It is okay to have nice things, just do not covet other people’s belongings or relationships. Appreciate what you have and those in your life. 5. Slow down to go faster. The lesson is to not rush into anything, career, relationships, creating art. The key is to steadily progress and do this correctly and for virtuous reasons. 6. The difficult life is the best life. Work hard, play hard, face life difficulties with becoming a better version of yourself during each challenge, or difficult situation. When we critically think through tough times, why they occurred, how to get through them, how to avoid them, we become a more complete person. 7. Silence is strength. The message is we have two ears and one mouth for a reason. We should listen at least twice as much as we speak. When we speak be honest and succinctly deliver the message.

i lost the love of my life because i couldn’t stop watching porn. I couldn’t be emotionally mature and understanding of how i was making her feel. I didn’t have the self discipline at the moment to stop. Until it was too late and she was done. Every day now i work twice as hard to keep me from going back to those habits, but with the false hope that maybe she will come around again. However i’m making the decision that i want this change for myself. I wish for strength and patience from god, and i hope one day i’ll be reconnected with my love.
