I play Gouging Fire. And the main thing holding the deck back. Is the inconsistency with switching. When you do get to your jet energies and carts when u need them? This deck just blitzes your opponent with 1st turn pressure and doesn't let up. With Latias EX just drop a nest or ultra ball to get it. And now jet energy can be removed for other helpful items, or pokes.

this deck is so fascinating to me just because its been a little bit since fires been relevant. i got so used to welder and reshizard that fire being back to this more... simple state with the basin n stuff is kinda refreshing. its cool to be rooting for fire as an underdog type in the format ^^

Same, I've been trying hard to make a viable fire deck I enjoy playing (I don't count Tera Charizard since it's Dark), and I was really proud when my variant of Gouging Fire managed to beat a Chien-Pao yesterday.

Been looving gouging fire. Being able to smash 280 the first turn going second or using delphox turn one for the double donk is crazy. Also roaring moon is fantastic for the big guys since they're harder matchups. Been doing really well online and irl with it and its my new favorite deck

I've been using a variation of this with Pecharunt-ex, Weavile (can force an opposing basic Pokémon to the active spot, such as a Charmander ... or an Iron Hands), and Rescue Boards (Weavile and Fezandipiti-ex now retreat for free). Gouging Fire-ex Blaze Blitz (can't use again until it leaves the active spot) Next turn: Pecharunt forces Fezandipiti-ex or Weavile to active spot You retreat for free, into the same Gouging Fire-ex (because it was removed from the active spot, even by your own hand, it can use Blaze Blitz again) or another one waiting on the bench I've been experimenting with similar ideas for Cinderace as well, with positives (Sparkling Crystal + double colorless makes energy easy, and there's no retreat cost by default) and negatives (getting the evolutions in play early is crucial, so your Arvens might end up being split between Rare Candies and Feather Balls).

Gouging Fire in the current format seems like a good anti-meta play because it is anti-big basic pokemon with better donk potential because it has access to magma basin whereas Raging Bolt cannot turn 1 KO as easily. With Raging Bolt,Terapagos, Moon and Miraidon in the format it one hit kos those pokemon. With Palkia and Drago it can use Munki to push its damage to taking out those. Charizard is a tough match-up, it probably has to hit into zard and then follow up with a Delphox play.

I've played this Gouging fire in the Ranked and its a one heck of a great card that deserves to be in the regionals of Day 2. Except that i forgot to put moltres in the deck and instead i put a pal pad for consistency
