That's not a kimono, that's a Hanfu. More than two thousand years ago, Japan was still in an uncivilized state. They learned culture, technology and etiquette from the Han Dynasty of China. Kimono evolved from Hanfu. Japan has many things that originated from China, including wooden shoes, cherry blossoms, tea ceremonies, chopsticks, gardening, etc. that you often see. Even at a few restaurants I didn't film, I didn't speak Chinese and the staff didn't speak English but they went out of their way to help us order and make sure the food was great.
