If I can offer a minor bit of feedback, from the perspective of someone just started, one thing I would've liked to learn about in this video is how you deal with corners. Maybe I missed it but I don't think you mentioned that. Also what to do when you've made a full loop along the entire edge of a project with the stitching.

Same here, I learned how to saddle stitch using Ryan's original video. It's great seeing a new update. One extra thing I like to do is start in the 3rd or 4th hole and put back stitches at the beginning of my line so that both ends of my stitch line are the same and have some extra strength. I also have a one-prong pricking iron and will use it to open all the holes (insert in each hole and twist it a little) in the sitch line so that I don't have to try to open each hole with the needles as I stitch.

Great video Ryan, one thing I learned after ruining every wallet I made in the first few months was you really need a good solid base to hammer your pricking irons on. I was doing mine on a desk with a punching mat and the irons almost always went in at an angle, when I moved to a solid worktop my irons went through straight every time.

This was the most informative stitching video I've seen. I honestly ended up learning through trial and error, I've never heard the up and away before, I always use round hole punches, but maybe if I had known that a year ago I would have gone with the diamond chisels.

One of the biggest problems I think beginner crafters face including myself is actually making the holes perfectly in the first place. I assume that many people have "cheaper" chisels where the machining is bad so that once you hammer it in its nearly impossible to get out without damaging the leather to some extent. To fix this just get a wet sandpaper kit (400-1500 I'd say) and sand the whole thing grit by grit, especially the teeth and inside the teeth. Then once your done use some kind of polisher, I used brasso and some chrome polish. Basically this smooths out the teeth so that you can easier hammer it in and especially take it out like how corter does lol. Besides that the line and keeping it vertical and straight just takes practice.

Just make sure when sanding that you're not damaging the shape of the teeth as you can easily turn a diamond chisel to a flat slanted one lol

This is the first video I was actually able to replicate. Other videos skip tiny details they think are obvious. You explicitly mentioned: 1) The slanted holes should be up and away from you. 2) Thread both needles on the same piece of thread. 3) Very slowly and carefully showed each step so I could replicate. Which hand, which direction and what order.

How refreshing to see a saddle stitching video where they don't insist that using an awl and making holes as you go along is THE ONLY CORRECT WAY TO SADDLE STITCH. Great tutorial. What i found out is that when pulling both thread dont pull too hard first, get the thread inline to slanted position, then pull hard. Also ensure both thread are at the bottom when pulling
