We’re on day 2 of your program with my 7 mo. He’s getting better!! We’ve gone for the 6-8-10 minute interval checking. Rocking him to being settled. I like the gentle approach to this program. Will report back at the end of 2 weeks!

Hi Lorena, we believe in a holistic approach to baby sleep, starting with ensuring they are eating and sleeping at the optimal times during the day to promote overall better sleep. From there we have various methods to help you guide your LO toward self settling. An under or overtired baby will find it very difficult to settle and stay asleep let alone learn to self settle. How old is your LO?

Using side settling and dummy helps LO (15 weeks) to drift off to sleep. However lunch naps are never longer than 45mins-1 hrs, and I'm looking for advice to gently lose the dummy for settling. Do I just remove it before he drifts into sleep?
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ida, We have a couple of methods in our Program to help remove the dummy. That lunch nap is very common to need resettling often at this age, they've got a lot going on developmentally but ensuring your wee one is getting the right awake windows prior to naps, right sleep environment and working towards that self settling will really help things along www.littleones.co/products/ultimate-sleep-nutrition-program

Our last three days have been horrendous. Our baby will not sleep until about 3-4am. He also struggles with gas. The only thing that has been able to settle him to stop crying uncontrollably has been to let him nurse... which he then doesn’t really do. He sucks a few times and then falls asleep. He’ll then happily sleep on me or my husband for hours, but as soon as we try to put him in his crib or pram, he wakes up and the cycle starts again.... all sleep training programs that I’ve seen so far suggest letting the baby cry for a little while until it gets too much of an “emotional” cry and then go in and settle them with words and touch... this does not work for my son ever... he just gets more and more upset till he cries to the point of not being able to catch his breath... he’s almost 5 weeks and I’m at the end of my tether...

In my opinion 5 week old baby is too little to sleep train. My understanding is that you should start with sleep training when they are 4 months as then their sleep matured and is similar to adult sleep. But you can start setting up healthy sleep habits from birth. Establishing bedtime routines, putting your baby down drowsy but awake etc..... My baby struggled with reflex very badly so we had to have her upright for good half an hour after her feed so we never managed to put her down drowsy. We purchased Littleones program though and it helped us when she was ready to learn to fall asleep independently. We have learnt that awake windows are very important. If we followed Littleones recommendation settling was much easier....and also first 3 months baby wants to be close to you as they can feel your heartbeat, it is nice and warm like when they were in uterus and that's why your baby is very happy to sleep on you or your husband - sometimes reffered to it as 4th trimester, you will get more information online if you want to.

Hi Suseli, at this age we wouldnt recommend leaving your LO to cry for extended periods. Our Newborn Program can help you with age appropriate awake windows and settling techniques to help your LO settle and sleep better. If hes very very unsettled in himself possibly theres something underlying causing him to be this way such as reflux. www.littleones.co/products/newborn

Have you tried a baby carrier? Do you swaddle him? Maybe take him to osteopath to rule out any physical disconfort. Your baby, your call... This early stage can be overwelming, hang in there!

Is there a 8 month sleep regression? My nearly 8 month old is not a sleeper but at about 6 months he started doing really well (for him - only 1 or 2 wakes, with a feed and back to sleep). But now he's gone back to multiple wakings, and being awake for 2-3 hours in the night. The only thing he's still doing ok at is the sleep between 3 and 6am. Even his day naps have gone backwards (he was always a pretty good day napper - regardless of how crap his night was). He is my fourth child and I've had a mix of great sleepers and shitty sleepers and feel like I've tried every tip and trick over the past 9 years to get my kids to be good sleepers and the older 3 are now amazing (although nothing worked with my 2nd born, and I did try everything). Oh and because he's awake in the night and waking so much he is awful to be around, he's so cranky and constantly whinging - its tough (and I live in Ireland so school is off till September aghhh) xxx

Hi Minh, Little Ones team, I have the same issue. My 7 month old keeps trying to roll over and climb the cot rails when he is in the cot no matter how tired he is. I have to resort to patting him again if I've been trying to settle for too long. Comfort settling method isn't working for me and I've been trying it over the last 2 weeks. Please let me know if you have a solution or suggestions to try. Thank you!

Hi there, I’ve tried to gradually stop rocking/feeding my 7 month old to sleep. But he immediately scream cries as soon as I lay him in his cot 😢 he has perfect day naps and wake windows but will wake every 2-3hours at night. He gets more and more agitated when I try and pat him/sing/talk to him to sleep. I’m exhausted and don’t know what to do.

Hi Larissa, If your following our Program you can post in our village and our consultants will be able to help you with this. You might need to take it really really gradually if you are wanting to avoid too much upset but if you are ok with a bit of protesting it might be worth giving your LO some space for a couple of mins to see if he can do it. Sometimes our presence can frustrate them more than help.

I have been following the newborn program for a week and a bit now... my little one is 4 weeks and a week old and is following the nap times accordingly... the room has been modelled according to your instructions including white noise and baby sleeps ok most of the times. His dummy is the main problem as to why i need to walk into the room to give this back to him as he gets very much frustrated and doesnt know how to put this back on (plus his hands are swaddled). Its ok to keep going in when he keeps crying to put this back right? Sometimes he doesnt cry that loud so i dont go and he falls asleep. Also, he starts closing his eyes when i pat him between his eyes onto his nose..is that ok to keep doing seeing it makes him sleepy and then he tends to close his eyes or better not so its not yet another sleep association?

Hi Leanne, if hes only 4 weeks old then times totally fine to go in and replace it although he shouldn't really bother too much if its fallen out at this age which might suggest theres something else going on. If you post in our app our consultants will be able to help you further with what might be going on.

My LO is 5 mo. I tried the pick up and put down method when he was 4 mo. I tried a week and took me longer and longer the put him to sleep, I picked up to calm him, and when I was about to put him down, he started screaming. I gave up. I tried I still rock him to sleep. I’m day 3 of your program, it’s great. He doesn’t need me to rock him for half an hour to put him to sleep. I may try a self settle method. I didn’t decide which method. Any suggestions?

Hi! My baby is 4 and a half months. She'll start daycare in 2 weeks. I mostly rock her to sleep, sometimes also nursing. I'm feeling anxious with daycare and starting work as well. Should I start sleep training now or wait until she's adapted to daycare, as I know baby will likely be clingy?
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Oana, it's your call really. If baby is currently sleeping well while you are settling to sleep then there is no need to work on self settling just for daycare although it does make their life a lot easier if a baby can self settle as theyve got a lot of others to look after usually too. But if shes not sleeping that well for you at the moment then working on self settling may help her to get some better sleep and relieve some of the anxiety you're feeling at the moment around it. It will certainly take her a bit of time to adjust to sleeping in the daycare environment but being quite young she will adjust pretty quickly.

No, she's not sleeping well. I use pink noise, dark room and at night she's awake every 1h30 to 2h. I know she's been overtired bc we've all been home (hubs and 4yo) and she keeps waking from her naps after 30 to 45 minutes, so I have a hard time managing her wake windows... What sleep program should I purchase?

What about the use of a dummy ?
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
Dummy's can be great settling tools and depending on the age of your LO they may well be able to replace it themselves (usually can grasp this between 6-8 months) so therefore it's a baby controlled association and they are self settling.

Little Ones ok great ! Thank you ! My little one is 5.5 months old and only really wants it during the day for his day naps. I thought about getting rid of it cause sometimes he cries when it falls out. But when I put him down for a nap during the day as soon as I give him the dummy his eyes start rolling and he knows it’s time to sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just thought maybe it was a bad sleep association cause he cries when it falls out but then also sometimes he doesn’t ...
@littleonesbabysleep
@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
It's not a bad association if it's not causing trouble and hes at an age where you can start working on him replacing it now. Guide his hand to the dummy and hand to mouth rather than replacing it for him 😊

@littleonesbabysleep 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica, if he's waking every hour, that might indicate something is bothering him like under or overtiredness - his naps may ot be happening at the tight times or for the right lengths to encourage good night sleep or it may be something environmental maybe too hot or too cold. If it's more commonly every 2 hours then it will likely be to do with how hes falling g asleep or being resettled. Our Older Baby Program will be able to help you on track. www.littleones.co/products/older-baby
