Seeing the world (for me) is trying hard to remember who I was when I was a child...I want to see the world the way I did back then. I remember who I was at seven...then I see myself today - yes, I'm grateful for all my "adventures" - but I miss that child - she is my truth...and I miss her - Anyway...I find myself at age 61 looking for safe and normal...funny the timing...I placed an ad in a few papers (searching for a home/apt to rent for a couple years while I save to buy)...and one of the requirements is I want a SAFE neighborhood - thanks for this week's message - I'm taking it as confirmation that safety (and normal) could be just around the corner - Please enjoy your week.

Such joy as I unpack my boxes of belongings one by one these few weeks as I knew in my heart that I am one step closer to my goal! Universe has its own timing for sure!!! My Grandpa died when I was five and even now, 60 years later I can still recall sitting on my Mom's lap while she sat grieving at the kitchen table. I was to young to completely understand death but I did recognize her sadness. I'll forever remember the warmth of her soft sweater, her arms hugging me as she gently rocked and her comforting my tears. There is nothing like a loving Mom to make you feel safe.

I had an extra special Mexican night with my youngest son and his Dad (my ex) and after all I’ve been through in the past year my youngest son is a very special gift from God and he always makes sure I’m safe❤️ He has been a bicycle rider since he could get on one and he at 40 and me at almost 72 have made plans to bike on my birthday! Every time I see Desi, he melts my heart & makes me tear up. To see how he has blossomed from all the unconditional love you give him. And I remember the story of how you rescued him. He is so grateful for his new life & lives everyday so happy & grateful. He is the cutest little guy & I love him so much. I had a basset hound named Barney for 14 years & he was my best friend. He had the biggest personality & always talked back to me with his barks. He was playful his whole life & never had a bad day. I have not gotten another dog since he passed 2 years ago. It was so painful to deal with his passing & it took me about a year to get over the loss. I love deeply & I have noticed as I get older (66), I am even more sensitive with loss. I am not sure I will ever get another dog but I sure love seeing Desi. My son has 2 dogs & 2 puppies so I get to go over there & love on them & my grandson. So, about feeling safe & normal; well for me, what gives me great comfort is knowing Jesus in my life & having the Holy Spirit reside in us. And reading devotionals & my bible. But also, one of the other things that always makes me feel happy & stable is when I listen to oldies from my era. It takes me back to those fun days as if I am there again. And that really makes me feel so young, especially when I dance to the oldies. I love to dance a lot. ☺🤗😍🥰💃 I love your channel. You are such a delightful person. I moved to a remote mountain town 3 miles from my son at the beginning of the pandemic. I'd lost my son for 20 years but have had him 'back' for 22. My daughter, his younger sister by 2 years asked him, "are you ok with Mom being here?" He, without hesitation, said "YES! we can take care of each other." I'm 74, he's 58, do the math. My boy was born when I was 16 and it wasn't easy. But now, we take care of each other.

What Chris said to you hits home. I felt that way about my mother. When she was in this world I always felt protected, loved unconditionally, listened to, my everyday armor to face the day. As I got older even more. I remember my Mom passing by the building where I worked and she buzzed me. I ran down to her, so happy to see her and I gave her a huge hug. Later on my return to work my friend at work who could see us out the window, asked when was the last time you saw your Mom. I answered last night. She was surprised and said “you would think you hadn’t seen her in a long time. Today I reflect on that and thank God for the mother I had and the relationship we had. She was my biggest blessing.

I turned to filming and I tried to scream at the sky and I felt every emotion on earth. In the end, my safe place was just like Dorthy's Kansas...I didn't have the ruby slippers but I did make myself a home....and I began to breathe and feel safe. I think that 'safe' feeling was not only a home/space, but the person that could make any space, any where, safe. There were many emotions when I lost my Mom at 90, but one was that until our last meeting, an inner peace would always happen in the greeting hug, and I felt safe, accepted, with a laser focus that was on her baby, despite being my 6th decade. I miss that, and try to play that emotion forward so others truly feel that acceptance as well. It's a gift.

You turn toward the annihilator and command them to get behind you. There is only Love… You are such a Darling…thankGod for You and your lil Desi❤️❤️

Before you even started to speak I thought, "oh that beautiful green outfit!" And that cork leather bag is fantastic! It's nice, no matter how old we get the new pair of sandals, or tube of lipstick can provide such a lift, we look pretty, and feel pretty! Your patio area is so lovely and romantic looking, especially at night. May I suggest turning over a ceramic flowerpot lid and filling it with water for the birds and squirrels. I am amazed at the number of cardinals, blue jays, etc. come for a drink each day when they realized I was consistently providing water. Maybe that's what feeling safe means...being convinced your needs will be met.

I love what your son said. I have a piece of a paper towel in a plastic sleeve on which my daughter wrote: I love my mom the best. The balcony looks beautiful at night.

Your comment on the secret to a happy life about feeling normal and safe really resonated with me. We’d moved away from the city where our children and grandchildren live about six years ago and although I enjoyed my time in my new city, I never really felt settled. After the last two years with covid and feeling isolated, we decided that we needed to move back to be closer to our children and grandchildren. After being “home” for the past eight months, I can say that I now feel settled, I feel normal, and I feel safe. I’m in a much better place emotionally than I’ve been for the past six years; I’m happy and I couldn’t say that before. So for me, being close to my family makes me feel normal, safe and happy. I’ve decorated my new home in happy, cheerful colours and have two rocking chairs on the front porch so we can sit outside and have our morning coffee before starting our day. Life is good.

My new home in California with my new mate, at 69, working on our house, and climbing into bed at night and feeling cozy together makes us both feel safe. And yes, also like two young people learning how to make this life with each other; the world is about to change, and we will change with it; perhaps reclaiming some lost years of youth, restored health and vitality, and getting down to basics and close to nature.

When I was a young adult with little kids, on Saturday mornings, with the kids still in their pjs, watching cartoons in a warm house; that's when I personally felt safe, my kids were safe, and I just loved those Saturday mornings. I miss those safe Saturday mornings after all these years. I'm alone now, but sometimes I turn on Saturday morning cartoons, just to feel that safe warm feeling again. ..... love your deck with the plants and flowers. You are such a beautiful decorator. ...sweet Desi❤.

Susan just like the rest of the girls we all enjoy your talk to us. I’m 75 years old I have four children 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren so I am very busy. Of course to me a happy place is with my children. My husband has passed away 10 years ago I still haven’t dated and don’t care too but I do take care of myself and I love listening to you. You’re such an inspiration. I go thrift in with my daughter just about every week I got to go today with my granddaughter and my daughter we had such a great time. You are a beautiful lady and I love your points of make up.

You always have such pretty clothes, and Desi is such a handsome little fellow. Sons have a tendency to feel safe with their mother, you were his caregiver, his love, his safe place. Here is something that was once told to me; a son is your son, until he takes a wife but a daughter is your daughter, all her life❤️ have a nice weekend.

Dear Susan, I love your videos, your fashion style, honesty and Desi. I always tell my grown children that there's no place like home. It's true. Especially during the lockdown. We all somehow managed to make our house a home. It has become our safe place.

Susan, I just love your videos but more than the video you make us all feel so welcome. Like a big bunch of friends. What your son said to you as a child is what I call an unforgettable mom moment. As a mom of 4 adults those memories are what have keep me going for 63 years. I remember them all, not that they happened a lot but when they did they could make my world beautiful place. Thank you Susan you are a gift to us all. Christine

Dear Susan, your videos are a work of art. They are poignant, creative, romantic, peaceful, joyful. Thankyou. May you be continually blessed, as you bless others. Your son found safety in your arms, in your heart, in your love that only a mum (I'm English) can bring. ♥
