3 Thrift Stores In One Day - Decorate With Me! You always bring me luck! OK! For 2022 I am decorating with navy and yellow in mind. I am on the hunt for all things yellow and blue and we scored! I saw so many amazing things and I even scored a vintage jacket that I have to model for you!

We went to 2 Salvation Army stores here in Grand Rapids and 1 Goodwill. What fun and I truly felt we all went together! I am anxious to see what you think of the items I picked up!
I am going to open a little eBAy store so I can showcase some of the items I find and offer them at very low prices. I love to change out my items often so this might be a win win for us!
I also chat about how we sometimes don't feel we have what it takes to succeed. Have you ever felt like this in your life?

The funniest time at a thrift store was when I went with my friend who was mad at her husband. He had told her to not spend much and just go to a thrift store. So she found lots of items….and when we got to the cashier….she had spent $350. I about died….laughing because she didn’t bat an eye. Her husband later shook his head and laughed and said he never dreamed anyone could spend that much money at Goodwill. Oh my do we laugh about that!!

I have found many things at thrift stores over the years .Last Spring I found a corner curio cabinet that I put in my bedroom and have displayed all my jewelry in it . It is lovely to see all my pieces and allows me to choose outfits that go with the jewelry, rather than choosing jewelry to go with the outfit !

Hi Susan I was so excited to see the plate that you picked up that looks like mosaic tiles. I have a ceramic tile exactly like it that is framed in wood that you use as a trivet. This was gifted to me from two dear friends that brought it back to me from Bethlehem!. They told me the tile represents the mosaic at the Sea of Galilee site where people from the Byzantine era made a memorial to Christ’s miracle of feeding the masses with two fish and the loaves of bread. I just love mine.

Could you please consider doing a video on what you do with all your home decor items when you redecorate or change out decor and get new things for your home, because living in an apartment doesn't leave us much space to store all these extra items we change out in the seasons when we change to summer, spring, fall, and winter decor. Do you store it in a rented storage unit or donate it or have a garage sale or yard sale in order to recycle and get new stuff all year long? I'm sure a lot of other people are just as curious as I am about that because you do change out and get new home decor quite often. I'm curious to learn how you store, organize it and remember what you have and where it's at when it comes time to change out and redecorate your home decor when the seasons change. Also maybe you could do a video on how often you clean and dust everything and what some of your favorite cleaning supplies are and what some of your cleaning techniques and cleaning secrets are to keep it all so new and shiney looking all the time. Oh my gosh, I've been a navy/burgundy/yellow decorator for years! Since I was in my 20s I have been collecting a type of blue and white china called flow blue which was mainly produced in the 19th and early 20th centuries, so when it came time to buy a new sofa, it had to be navy blue to look good with my china collection. When that sofa wore out, I bought another navy blue one and I love it! I use accents of burgundy and yellow and I think it looks lovely. I like that you buy things that make you happy or inspire you, not to fit trends that come and go. Good for you!

I went nuts when I saw that RC Gorman tile. So glad you didn't leave it behind! Famous, prolific, important artist. To me that tile is "worth" more than everything else you got. I love the leopard jacket. I had one that was similar, back in the day, but I think I only wore it a couple of times. I got so much attention, when I wore that jacket, that it actually made me self conscious. When I see the way you styled it with a black dress, it makes me wish I had worn it more. A few years ago when l moved into this house l started painting my kitchen cupboards COBALT BLUE (commercially referred to as Mediterranean Blue). The walls were to be painted TANGERINE, but then a whirlwind blew into my life and l never finished. Soon l hope to have the time to finish it. I simply need to thank you for the Thrift Store visit. Here in Toronto we are snowed in, so a trip like that (without leaving the house) was a treat.

Just stumbled on your 3rd year utube anniversary with Q and A. You really haven't changed too much. Music probably still brings tears and you as all of us still longing to be loved. When we find ourselves single because we haven't found our love or single because of divorce or single because of the death of our love we all still yearn to be loved by another human. Dogs, pets and family and friends just don't fill the warm loving embrace or holding hands as you watch the sunset or being covered with a warm blanket out of the dryer. 😪 oh my gosh i so very much miss my husband Jim of 52 married years. We were together since i was 15 years old, my one and only. Regret not telling him everyday what an amazing husband and daddy and grandfather!!!! Widowed since September 2019. Will i ever find love again? Feeling envious as i see an elderly couple holding hands 😪 I know this is the life right now and everything can change in a blink of an eye. Be blessed dear Susan. Great finds! My Grandma had a yellow kitchen. She made the best dinner rolls and breakfast rolls I've ever had. It was always so bright cheerful. My second apartment had yellow checked wallpaper. I've used yellow and and blue in my kitchen for about 3 decades. I can't imagine using other colors. Am I in a rut? I don't care. I love it and it makes me happy. RC Gorman was born in Arizona, but moved to Taos, New Mexico in the late sixties. There are RC Gorman galleries in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos (as well as Arizona). He died in 2005 at a hospital in New Mexico, having been transferred from his Taos home. I live in New Mexico and also love his work!

My greatest Thrift find was 4 designer scarfs that were $1.99 ea. I scored an Hermes (Carousel Horses), 2 Gucci, and a Chanel. They were 100% authentic. The Hermes I sold on eBay for $140. The other three I kept for myself.

I found a painting of a lady by Fisher. A great artist who did ladies from early 1900s at an antique store. With this lady was a little dog she is holding. It looks so much like my Chloe that passed away. I had to get it! I love his artwork and the little dog just made it more special.

You can paint glass. Any jars…buy glass paint, pour in swirl around for total coverage or dripping effect. Follow directions (dry in oven). Can also be done glass plates paint bottom/underneath This way you can customize anything with whatever colors you want.

I've had a lot of great thrift finds over the years but the one I really like is a bow front long dresser that I use as a entertainment center, also my 3 piece solid wood bedroom suite that is awesome.You always find interesting things.I really love the leopard print jacket and the crackel vase, but the one thing that surprised me is how good the wall sconce looks with the lights in it!It really looks great! Susan you definitely have the IT factor. I was in the GOODWILL and I found two antique porcelain dressing table items. One was a handpainted basket trimmed in 24k gold 3.99 The other was handpainted dish with lid 3.99, both Victorian. Then these beautiful porcelain figurines with porcelain lace on their dress also Victorian. I love antique and thrift stores. So HAPPY to see you and Mr Desi. You both have a blessed and safe week. P.S. My thrift find was a metal chandelier with sculpted roses on it. I painted it and had it in my kitchen. I saved it when we moved 18 years ago. It is now hanging up in my daughter’s dining room at her house. I love seeing it every time I visit them. It reminds me of all of the fun times when she was a little girl and was sitting in the kitchen! Lots of love!❤️

Daisy, I know what you mean about finding new friends-I am 77. I think we have to put ourselves into situations that make us met new people, such as volunteering or learning something new. I began taking bridge lessons and that has opened up my life. I am thinking of learning chess-a chess club is offering free lessons! Local theaters and museums are another place for volunteers.

I grew up thrifting out of necessity now as a hobby business. I LOVE treasure hunting & am out at least 3 times a week. I don’t always sell my finds but the Native American tile is FABULOUS! I have sold $2 tiles for $100 ( I’d have kept the tile for myself). Dressing & decorating with one of a kind items to me takes talent. You have the eye, flair & artistic ability to put it all together. I bought a hand carved Walnut wood Eagle that is about 4 feet tall, wingspan at least 3 feet wide for $50 in Hastings ( over $1000 resale value) and surprised my Mr as a gift.

May I just say that the leopard jacket looks great on you! That was a steal of a deal, Susan. The best thing that I purchased at a Thrift Store was an antique Staffordshire ceramic dog, priced at $20.00. I snapped that puppy up, pun intended, before anyone else saw it. Obviously the person pricing it didn't know what they had. Later, I found a mate for it, but not at $20.00. You and sweet Dezi have a great week.

Hi, love when you visit thrift shops and good will, I started going myself and found many treasures, my greatest found was crystal small cake stands, so pretty with etching, couldn't believe no one bought them! I adore Desi! He is so adorable, and your home is beautiful, the plaque you found with the native woman was just beautiful, I need to find me one! Susan & Desi, I’ve enjoyed buying many beautiful clothes & home decor items at thrift stores in the past, & it was always so much fun! BUT, since I downsized & moved into a small apartment, I can’t buy another thing until I finish going through, sorting & purging the many boxes of photos, mementos, papers, files & excess clothes I have! Although some are crammed into my garage & every closet, many are still in plain sight with no where else to go. I’m in my late 60’s, widowed, live alone with my kitty, & the decision fatigue & lack of motivation are sickening. I’m trying hard to stay focused & keep my chin up, but some days, it feels futile & all I want to do (& have done) is just sit down & cry. I’ve tried several methods & even had a pro come in to help, until I couldn’t afford to keep paying. I have a good life & am thankful for my many blessings. I just need my space to be serene & uncluttered, where I can finally feel at home. Thank you for letting me share my feelings with this community of supportive women. If any of you have been through this & finished, I’d love to hear how you did it. Thanks & love to all of you wonderful, strong women!

While she was alive someone had broken it and she tried to glue it back together. But it completely broke one day and I know she was sad to let it finally go. So know that she passed I found it in the store and it made me cry because I felt like she was saying remember me. And Yes I bought that little vase and I cherish it as I cherish my Grandma ❤️

You always find the best items at the thrift store! I had to chuckle with the "crabby" comment! 🤣. One of my favorite finds at our local thrift store was a Nolan Miller necklace and earring set! It was in perfect condition and I know these pieces were sold years ago on QVC. Back then, it had to have retailed for at least $50.00 or more. So I was pretty tickled to find it! Hello Susan! I just love the painted plaque by the American Indian artist! When you first found it and said there was no price tag---I got very emotional because I just knew you would have to have it for the both of us! I have a thing for pictures and busts of females, for some reason. Your plaque reminds me somewhat of something I found in an antique shop once: a bust of a woman that I think could be American Indian of the newer generation---with long black hair. The look on her face is one of peace and freedom---like she knows who she is and is at peace with herself! It is made of terra cotta, and is overlaid with something black as coal, which makes the long hair ever so beautiful! It is very textural. She is only about 6" high and will someday---when I finally unpack her---be put on a pedestal in order to show off her different sides. She is beautiful! Thanks for sharing! You have good taste!

@@jkalb1744 yes at the moment we have all restaurants and bars and all entertainment is closed at 8pm we also have a lot Iof retail shops closed because of staff shortage life is so different now we are not as jolly as we use to be must of us just barely go out just to get our shopping sad really but please god it will ease down and life will get back to some sort of normality thank you for asking best regards from my little village in Co Wexford Ireland 🇮🇪

The best vintage thing(s) that I bought lately are Japanese wall pockets on eBay. Thank you for showing us your wall pockets because it inspired me to get my own. Right now they are decorated with Christmas sprigs but I look forward to coming up with new things to add to them in the coming seasons! Beautiful video, as always Susan.

I am so happy I found your channel. I have been watching your videos for about 6 months. I love that you share so much of her life experiences, wisdom and insight. I love to go thrifting with you and all your finds. I appreciate that you have a wholesome content and really care and want to connect to your subscribers....I feel like I am visiting with and old friend of many years when I watch your videos. You inspire so many women, to get up put on make up, do your hair and wear trendy clothes for YOU not anyone else . People/women need to hear that over 50 we still have value, much to give and that life can be good and that there is more good days to come. *I thought your Thrift Store choices were wonderful.* I have a blue glass collection of bottles mostly, with some ceramics (in the kitchen). This is the second time l have watched this channel and l am really enjoying it. I got a sweater at a thrift store to wear at Christmas with tiny embroidered flowers and precious little bows. My family hate it but l love it and l have had compliments from complete strangers on it.

Almost everything I own came from a thrift shop. All my prize possessions came from thrift shops. To pick one would be impossible. A very large owel and lion pencil drawing framed in rustic wood are more than special and a pen and ink drawing of 5 people in bohemian clothes are also a favorite and a black and white painting of a boy clambing in the sea hits home because it's how I spent my youth on peconic bay messing around with boats and crabbing. So many priceless treasures give me a hug as I wander around my house with my best friend happy my dog.

I often buy good quality clothes from the thrift store. I know the good labels now lol, but my most favorite achievement was when I outfitted a whole apartment using Kijiji last year. I was so proud of the decor and furniture… all good quality solid wood comfort pieces!

I've found so many good things at thrift stores it's hard to say what was my best find. When I was a young single I decorated with thrift store items out of neccessity, and now I do it for fun like you. I also donate. Thrifting is not only fun and economical, it's good for the environment.

@@LittlePoet Yes there is a club! They meet at the Grand Hotel once a year for the last 30 years. You get to appear in costume and different cast members from the movie come, everyone has a "Grand" (pun intended) time reminiscing and eating, dancing, etc. Jane Seymour still comes when her schedule permits. It's on my bucket list for sure. One day I will have the money! I am sure I was born in the wrong era because I look wonderful in Edwardian clothes !!!! Big LOL I think we should go together! What fun!!!
