Actually, this episode is a good demonstration of the idiom "The shoemaker's children have no shoes". The general concept is that it's easy to recognize faults in someone else, but not so easy to recognize the faults in one's self, even if it's the same fault. I mean, this episode sure does exaggerate it. But the point is that even if you recognize a fault in someone else, you may not recognize that you yourself have this fault because, in your mind, it's a system that works. It's basically the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality at its most extreme. Just because a system works, it doesn't mean it's at its most efficient. Especially if that's how you were raised and taught.

That acually reminds me of a story. Basically my Great-grandmother always cut the end off of her chicken before she cooked it, so that's how my maternal Grandma learned it. So when my mom was a kid, that's still how Grandma cooked her chicken. One day, Mom asked Grandma why she cut the ends off the chicken before cooking it. Grandma said that's just how *her* mom did it and she didn't know why. So Grandma called *her* mom and asked why she cut the ends off her chicken. It was because the pot was too small. My Grandma had just assumed that was a special trick or something and started doing it herself, even though her pot was plenty big. Thanks for reading this random storytime 😊

In my opinion, this should not work for this episode, for various reasons.Considering that AJ's family is away in this episode, she is left with all the work, but you can't say that they wouldn't notice the amount of extra work she does.So this begs the question:does her family knows what she is doing, but they either don't care or secretly laugh at her, or are they just as dumb?

"One look at the list should've convinced Twilight that Applejack is not right in the head." Yeah, but can we say in good conscience that ANY of them have EVER been right in the head? Lol!

You forgot to sin the fact that Rarity and Twilight think that Applejack is actually a unicorn and continue to show her how to turn all the wheels of the pipes at the same time using magic, also how to effortlessly change the wire fence, oh wait- in order to do to that you need magic as well :)

For some reason the writers think that to make an episode with a moral about honesty, farming, or family-ing, they have to make Applejack bad at it first, which just makes her seem like she's really not good at anything she's known for.

This is the perfect representation of *the element of honesty*

3:21 i like to imagine that this was 1. slightly out of spite/passive-aggressiveness and/or 2. she is reliable and responsible, not trying to keep applejack away for longer than she thinks and letting her stick to the original agreement. rarity acts more like applejack in this episode than applejack herself!

I’m just gonna say it: the show definitely saw a slight dip in quality once Amy Keating Rogers left at the end of season 5.

I can't remember what it was anymore (because it was so long ago), but this episode made me realize I was doing something unnecessary that was a fix for a problem that no longer existed.

It’s officially time you get your own sin so, In earlier episodes you had Spike’s dialogue colored green but now it’s purple…kinda like his egg. Cinamare Sins: 2,748 - Commenters: 1

I don't know why the Applejack chicken dance came after the callback to Spoon drawer line is so funny but it is and I love it.

@LittleshyFiM when Spike asked Rarity what she was going to get and she said she was going to get Applejack I thought “ huh Apple Jack was for sale I didn’t know that”. And that made me laugh too
