Thank you for your concern about the candles. We made sure to turn them on under close supervision and only during the filming of the video, so no damage was caused. Otherwise I turn on the usual garland. I just really wanted to try the traditional method of lighting the Christmas tree in this video! And I love how magical it turned out! Didn't it??

We used to have real candles on Christmas tree when I was a child. You just had to watch it and it was only for the time when we were unwrapping presents or when we were sitting by the tree. It was magical.

Beautiful video! I'm so happy to see someone else put candles on their tree. We have done this all my life as my mother was from Germany. The candlelight is so beautiful. We never leave the room when the candles are lit and have a very special Christmas candle snuffer that we use. It wouldn't be Christmas without the candles being lit on Christmas Eve. I agree with you. We also have the traditional Catholic Advent wreath that is lit for 4 weeks at mealtime. And the New England Bayberry candles are divine to fragrant the Christmas home along with Beeswax candles to purify the air. We were too poor to buy tree ornaments and gifts for relatives so my children helped me make tree ornaments thru the years and gifts for family and friends. Those were festive and fun days.... doing it all at home.

A wonderful video. The cookies on the tree really reminded me of Tasha Tudor. I am glad you got to enjoy sledding. I have many memories of sledding, tubing or using a toboggan as a child or taking my children sledding when they were young.
