For real ❤️. My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given anywhere from 3 months to 3 years. When you or someone you love is given a timeline, all of a sudden the perspective shifts to one of - it’s such privilege to still be here. Not everyone will get that privilege.

I am a 60 year old grandma and as a very young girl my dad raised Dobermans, he had me exercise the dogs by walking them everyday after school….it was about an hour each day…well that started my walking habit and 50 plus years later I still walk over 3 miles a day rain or shine…usually I am listening to Mel!! Feeling like I am now too old to do embark on a new career I am passionate about, too old to get my health back on track, too old for anything new. Watching and listening to Judith has changed my outlook completely.....I now feel revived and ambitious.....hopeful that I can still change my life. Thank you Judith for sharing your life and wonderful advice. Happy Early Birthday :) Can't wait to hear how you celebrated.

This is a great Video. This brings back painful memories which i have been enduring. My relationship of 5 years ended 3 months ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.

This was a brilliant episode Mel. At the age of 60, my life and body are changing faster than I realised and that gives a lot of food for thought. My mother is 81, she’s in London and each time I visit, I see her aging because of the lack of exercise. I went back to the UK in November 2021 to be with her because she had a skin cancer where she was going to lose her eye, they saved it. Then when I was ready to come back to the US, she broke her ankle, so I stayed another month. I got to see how important it is to keep up your strength and what happens to your body when you don’t. Your mother in law is lovely. Love watching your episodes, thank you for all the motivation😊🌸

I just listened to this podcast with your mother-in-law. I loved it. I'm not 86, but I'm over 60 now and I just made a move recently across country for no good reason. Except that now my new montray is, I'm not dead yet. I even got a personalized plate that says I'm not dead yethough. Other people don't understand you know, making the move. They questioned it but I never did and she validated me this morning. So glad you put the podcast out. There's still some things I can do to improve my life and make it happier but. I'm pretty darn, happy and happier than I've been my whole life. Just making decisions to stay in life and active and social. I must say, though I still carry a little resentment when people don't return my calls. And stuff like that. So I'm gonna try to work on that and let that go so anyway. Thanks so much to you and Judy for sharing this intimate story. I love it and i'm gonna keep listening

Listening to this podcast reminded me of my Dad. He was the most social person I ever knew. He was the family communicator. Thank you for the beautiful memories you brought back for me. And thank you for the inspirational talk to help me with action. I have always told my family I will be dancing at my 100th birthday. I look forward to being healthy for the party.

I loved this episode! JJ has so many parallels with my grandma, who also moved to a city alone at 19 and became a widow when she was still quite young. She also knew how to make friends and walked every day way into her 90s. She lived to 97.

Thank you Mel. Your mom in law is a gift to all of us. I need this at the moment feeling demoralized as the workforce in SA are not keen on employing people over 50. I believe I fell into a slump of anxiety and depression as I had vested so much of my sense of self in my work. I became reclusive and embarrassed. Keep making these videos, they inspire us.

It was on one of my walks as I was listening to this podcast that I learned for the first time that ADHD can show up differently in women than men. That’s when for the first time ever things made sense and I seeked a doctor about this and got diagnosed right before I turned 40. And I owe you Mel so much for spreading an information that can be life changing foe people! Hearing about the “listen to something as you walk” part reminded me of this ☺️ ❤ love from Istanbul~

Thank you Judie and Mel! I watched the original interview some time ago and sent it to my mom. Judie, you are such a joy to listen to and learn from. I resonated with what you said about being focused on having a good time and not on studies in school. I’m more focus on growing and learning new things now. I think that’s the silver lining, maybe you didn’t focus during school days, but you are now a lifelong learner! I hope you come back for another interview soon!

My petite 4'10" grandmother also was a "grazer" - she could pick on the same piece of chicken all day, and drink that one small pot of the most tasty coffee for hours - and she always had some cake with her coffee. She lived to be 100! She also would be outside shoveling snow or raking leaves, or walking to the next town over to catch the bus to Atlantic City.

What a fabulous Lady. Now this is what I call motivation to move, to be thankful every single day, to enjoy smoothies, to connect with family/friends, to make new friends, to listen more and to have fun. We read and hear this all of the time and are aware of what we should be doing but Your Mother in Law is so full of great advice because she actually talks the talk and looks truly amazing and content with her life. Why wouldn’t we be motivated by this super lady. It’s certainly done the trick for me. 😊😊 Thank you so much to both of you.

This is great! I’m 65 and share so many of her daily habits and her attitude and gratitude for life. One thing I would add is that if you have an elderly parent get them to journal about their life. I got my Dad to write his life story before he died. I then made it into a photo book and gifted one to my sister and all the grandchildren. It’s a precious keepsake. I wish I’d asked my Mum to do the same.

Judy you are such an inspiration for living a full, happy life. I definitely needed to hear this today, not only to improve my life but to pass on your ideas to my 96 year old mom. My mom just moved from her home of 55 years to an adult family home. Needless to say, she is having a very difficult time and does not want to leave her bedroom. I shared with her today your wonderful podcast with Mel. I told her you said the most important thing to live a happy life is to be social, reach out and connect with other people. After a little encouragement and hearing this is message, she has decided to step out of her comfort zone and join the other 5 residents to eat her dinner. Hopefully after tonight, she will feel more at ease with new friends. Thank you!

I so admire all of this for sure. I stopped working suddenly when Dr. closed practice not prepared for sure, married no children however but my dogs are very comforting to me., surprised a pet was never a option mentioned. Foster a pet can also help feel connected if not as social as Mel's Mother in law. I like being around like minded people that is the challenge to find after stop working. Would love more segments to help others with no children and family not close by. Also staying healthy is a crucial aspect for sure . Pets help me be present and feel purpose for sure. So much displaced animals out there.

I LOVE this episode! As I'm in my mid-fifties, one of my own crusades is letting people (especially women) know that age is a number and the "aging experience" is OUR choice. I have a number of friends who are older in age than me, and yet have the same exact philosophy and joie de vivre! Judy reminds me of one of my FAVORITE people in the whole world; she just turned 84 and travels everywhere, has purpose, and nothing gets her down. She's one of my favorite people to travel with; 5 years ago, we went to Sedona, AZ together and hiked in the canyons together. Her latest birthday party had a dragon theme, we did temporary dragon tattoos, and she had a fire dancer perform, too... I laugh to say I'd probably rather go to her birthday party than the birthday party of people much, much younger... so much fun! She's another incredible person in her 80's, and I can't even list all the things she does or has done... just since she was ini her 50's! If you want someone else as a guest like this, I can definitely provide her info! "I've always been pushing myself into something that's a little scary.... just a little push." I agree, 100%, regardless of age!
