Enjoy this tour of these two amazing people and their incredibly Unique sailboat. Simon and Eryn flew to florida to buy a boat, with only shorts and tee shirts they were dismayed when that boat was rotten, and their best option happened to be in vancouver, in the winter! View the whole video to find out more about their crazy and wacky adventure restoring this boat from something that would be condemned if it were on land, to this beautiful and quirky space which they plan to use to sail back to Australia.

Lucky guy to have such a gorgeous companion with such an easy-going personality who loves to sail, and she doesn't mind roughing it out going 10 days without a shower!! Hope you had a safe crossing of the ocean back to Australia. That's no joke of a trip.

What a joy this Eyrin is, Simon is a lucky guy to have her aboard. I envy both of them taking on this adventure. As a retired sailor (due to disability), I must confirm Eyrin’s pleasure of being rocked to sleep by the waves, there is nothing like it on land and it’s something I truly miss. Bless them both, I pray for their safety and fair winds and weather.

I just cannot watch one more ( of the 100's) of Blind Leading The Blind Videos made by clueless souls who think a boat is like a car.. you just buy one and go. Everybody starts from zero and works up.. but everybody doesn't drag along other people, virtually or in fact.

I just stumbled across your video and it rang true to me. My first live aboard was a 1939 William Hand ketch. The old woodies just smell good. People would ask how I could live in such a small space. I would just point at the Pacific and tell them "Yes it's small, but I have one helluva back yard" Good luck and fair winds.

You two have some fun hard work coming , bring it. I've been on the water my whole life can't get enough then when I do I'm a road Trekkie. I'm sure you'll plan around the weather with that style if sailboat. And purchase a salt to fresh water converter. Then double your solar and add a water geni and your set. I'm envious. Don't forget a drag line left in water when running for accident s over the side. Sorry for sounding bossy and you probably know all this. But I want to follow your channel with less worries. I lost a close very intelligent brother who made one small mistake. Be safe Rock on. .

I can understand it completely. Wooden boats feel better than plastic, and they can be repaired and maintained with no modern materials. Hence, you can be literally anywhere in the world and be able to fix her with hand tools, wood and a few fasteners. Throw in some modern epoxy, which keeps very well in storage, and you have a simple way to be self reliant. Also, wooden boats don't blister. All you need to do is keep her bottom painted with normal. oil based marine paint. No need to use LP paint.
@constancesheeran7561
@constancesheeran7561 7 жыл бұрын
dis-agree massively, if you have a wooden boat and something holes is you have to take all the wooden planks out that are affected and replace them, which means steam bending them (normally) to the shape of the hull, re-pack the gaps in-between them and then allowing them to swell into place. if you hole a GRP boat you make sure that area of hull is clean and lay some glassfibre matt over it, cover it in resin, wait a couple of hours and its probably now stronger than it was before and perfectly watertight, and if done properly with care you'll never be able to tell. I hate to say it but I fear when the boat starts to rot and they don't realise it the maintenance and cost will force them to abandon her.
@speckspeck
@speckspeck 7 жыл бұрын
yeah, like wooden boats are going to easily get holed, have yet to see someone have the problem you have described, and insurance will cover it if it does happen, so keep it up to date.
